Los fondos y las colecciones de archivo en las bibliotecas: modelos para su control y acceso

First, we examine the context of creation of special collection units in libraries, and the reasons why libraries compile archive materials and collections. Second, we focus on the techniques used in library environments to describe archive materials and collections and to guarantee their accessibility. We examine the models used in the United States and the United Kingdom to describe and access these materials, and the cooperative projects launched in these two countries in the past few years. Finally, we offer a preliminary analysis of how these types of materials are currently dealt with in Catalan libraries, and issue some recommendations to improve their archiving and access.

Iowa Library Services Reorganization Report, 2010.

Legislation passed during the 2010 legislative session required a study of ways to streamline state-funded library operations and services. The Iowa Library Association was asked to lead this endeavor and named a committee to carry out the study. The study resulted in the development of a plan for reorganization, which is outlined in the Iowa Library Services Reorganization Report. The Iowa Library Reorganization Committee was representative of the Library Services Areas, the State Library of Iowa, and public libraries of all sizes from all around the state. The president of the Iowa Library Association and the State Librarian also served as members of the Committee. The report was submitted to members of the Iowa legislature on November 1, 2010.

Tax Exempt Property Report, 2008

Iowa law requires each assessor in the state to value tax exempt property within his or her jurisdiction, and report such values to the Director of Revenue each year. The following report lists the 2009 actual valuations of tax exempt property for the following types of property: religious institutions, literary societies and educational institutions, low rent housing, associations of war veterans, charitable and benevolent societies, libraries and art galleries, dwelling unit property, homes for soldiers, and racetracks. Also presented in this report are comparative 2008 exempt property values.
