University of Southampton thesis template for use with MS Word 2003 (PC) and 2004 (Apple)

This template is for use with both Word 2003 (PC) and Word 2004 (Apple Mac). It provides a structure and format that meets with the University's Quality requirements for a thesis. The template has mirror margins set up to allow for double-sided printing. It is not compulsory to use the template when writing a thesis. but it's use will make your thesis well presented and should save you a lot of time and effort. Since Office 2003/2004 are no longer the supported versions of Office used at the University there are no supporting videos.

Speaker: Patrick McSweeney Organiser: Time: 15/10/2014 11:00-11:45 Location: B32/3077 Abstract Having started at Southampton in 2005 I have seen quite a few changes to the way courses are taught and studied. I will reflect on some of the interesting changes I have observed and suggest their causes. As a practical example I will talk about codestrom, a peer feedback tool for learning programming. We have found that this teaching method has improved the student experience and reduced the work load for the module team. Together we will discuss how this and other recent developments can enable other teaching innovations which benefit staff as well as students. Hopefully the new class of PhD students will be able to contribute from the point of view of having recently been undergraduate students here and else where.

Innovative practices in Psychiatry. Argentina, 1960-1970

The paper analyzes innovative psychiatric practices that took place in Argentina during the sixties and seventies at the Hospital Jose Esteves in the province of Buenos Aires. Objective: To present the coexistence of different paradigms related to mental health in the same institution and to analyze the complexities generated by this scenario. Methodology: This study uses primary sources in the form of medical records of patients admitted to the hospital between 1960 and 1979. The medical records were cross-referenced with publications of newspapers and magazines of the time. Results: The analysis shows that the political environment during the era of militarydictatorship —characterized by ideological persecution and the inhibition of political expression— influenced the development of innovative psychiatric practices. At the same time, instances ofanti-Semitism and ideological persecution among health workers affected therapeutic approaches. Conclusions: While the introduction of innovative practices in mental health led to someresistance among the more orthodox psychiatrists, the presence of different paradigms shows a plan, both political and professional, to transform psychiatry and admission policy in Argentina.

Asimismo, indagar las implicaciones que tienen los cambios y el avance en los sistemas de implementación tecnológico de empresas dedicadas a TI en las finanzas de esta compañía. El presente trabajo busca determinar de qué manera NEORIS COLOMBIA S.A.S. implementa sus recursos para ser una de las empresas de consultoría más importantes de Colombia a pesar del incremento de la competencia en el sector dedicado a consultoría de TI brindando soluciones de tecnología emergente y servicios de outsourcing, que va de la mano con los avances tecnológicos que exige cada vez más el mundo actual. Aunque dentro del mercado la competencia es infaltable, NEORIS busca crear relaciones a largo plazo con proveedores de servicios generales, personas con la experiencia y el conocimiento y excelencia técnica necesaria para desarrollar aplicaciones y servicios especializados en una diversidad de plataformas tecnológicas que le permita seguir siendo una empresa líder. Para este análisis financiero, se utilizarán diferentes herramientas e indicadores financieros que ayudarán a identificar, analizar y evaluar si la compañía es viable o no.
