Characterization of the freesound online community

There are many online communities with membergenerated and openly available multimedia content. Their successdepends on having active contributing users and on producing useful content. With this criterion, the community of sound practitioners that has emerged in Freesound is a successful case of interest to be studied. But to understand it and support it further we need an appropriate analysis methodology. In this paper we propose some qualitative and quantitative approaches for its characterization, focusing on the analysis of organizational structure, shared goals, user interactions and vocabulary sharing. We think that the proposed approach can be applied to otheronline communities with similar characteristics.

Missouri River Studies: Alluvial Morphology and Engineering Soil Classification, HR-1, Progress Report, 1960

The primary purposes of this investigation are: 1) To delineate flood plain deposits with different geologic and engineering properties. 2) To provide basic data necessary for any attempt at stabilizing flood plain deposits. The alluvial valley of the Missouri River adjacent to Iowa was chosen as the logical place to begin this study. The river forms the western boundary of the state for an airline distance of approximately 139 miles; and the flood plain varies from a maximum width of approximately 18 miles (Plates 2 and 3, Sheets 75 and 75L) to approximately 4 miles near Crescent, Iowa (Plate 8, Sheet 66). The area studied includes parts of Woodbury, Monona, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Mills, and Fremont counties in Iowa and parts of Dakota, Thurston, Burt, Washington, Douglas, Sarpy, Cass and Otoe counties in Nebraska. Plate l is an index map of the area under consideration.

Soil-Cement Stabilization, Part 1, Materials and Construction, HR-75, 1962

This report covers the construction in 1961 of the soil-cement base and related pavement structure on Iowa 37 from Soldier to Dunlap, (F-861(6), Crawford, Harrison, Monona). The report also contains an account of the experimental work performed on the same road under research project HR-75.

La construcción de la imagen de la política en los noticiarios televisivos en España. Exo- y endo- equilibrios de la calidad de la información política

En nuestra sociedad la imagen que los ciudadanos tenemos de la política está fuertemente condicionada por cómo esta aparece en los medios de comunicación y, en particular, en los noticiarios televisivos. Este artículo, fruto de un proyecto de investigación I+D+I financiado por el Ministerio de Educación, Política Social y Deporte, analiza las noticias de temática política de ocho canales de televisión en España con el objetivo de comprobar cuál es la presencia de la política en los noticiarios, qué imagen se construye de la política en ellos. Además, propone una nueva metodología para establecer la calidad de las informaciones políticas en los noticiarios televisivos en España a través de la definición de los endo- y exo- equilibrios de los contenidos políticos de los noticiarios. Las principales conclusiones del artículo son que los noticiarios que construyen una imagen más equilibrada de la política son los de Televisión Española y Cuatro, mientras que los que construyen una imagen más desequilibrada son los de la Sexta y Canal 9. El porcentaje de noticias dedicadas a la política no depende ni de la titularidad (pública-privada), ni del ámbito de cobertura (estatal-autonómica) del canal. En cambio, sí podemos encontrar una relación en la suma de las noticias de política (political issues) y las de gobernanza (policy issues).

L"herbari de la Institució Catalana d"Història Natural.

El herbario de la Institució Catalana d"Història Natural En este trabajo presentamos un estudio sobre el herbario de la Institució Catalana d"Història Natural. Mostramos estadísticas sobre los recolectores, los años y las localidades de recolección, las familias y los grupos taxonómicos representados, así como un listado de pliegos tipo y otros ejemplares de interés taxonómico. El herbario consta, actualmente, de 1.202 pliegos. Está constituido, casi en su totalidad, por plantas cedidas por la familia de Frederic Trèmols y por parte de la exsiccata «Plantes d"Espagne» del hermano Sennen. Los materiales proceden principalmente de Cataluña (532 pliegos, un 44 %), del resto del Estado Español (218, un 18 %) y del continente europeo (125, un 10 %), e incluyen una proporción de crucíferas poco habitual en nuestros herbarios (253, un 21 %). Por otra parte, de los 112 pliegos tipos presentes en el herbario, muy pocos taxones son reconocidos en floras actuales, como la Achillea millefolium L. subsp. ceretanica (Sennen) O. Bolòs & Vigo o el Eryngium × chevalieri Sennen. Sin embargo, el interés científico de esta colección resulta limitado, dado que una gran parte de los pliegos son duplicados de otras colecciones depositadas también en el Instituto Botánico de Barcelona.

Missouri riverfront parkway & scenic highway design study, 1973.

This report concerns a proposed Parkway and Scenic Highway along both sides of the Missouri River in Harrison, Pottawattamie and Mills County in Iowa and Washington, Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska. This Parkway will make the Missouri River valley accessible to the public, link existing and planned attractions and facilitate planned development while at the same time preserving for posterity the best of the natural attributes of the area.

Spanish E-Consumer Segmentation and Positioning in Virtual Supermarkets Sector

This article analyses different factors that influence the purchasing behaviour of online supermarket customers. These factors are related to both the appearance of the website as well as the processes that take place when making the purchase. Based on these analyses, the various groups of consumers with homogenous behaviour are studied and positioned according to their attitudes. The analysis also allows the quality of the service offered by this kind of establishment to be defined, as well as the main dimensions in which it develops. In the conclusions, factors which should influence the manager of an online supermarket to improve the quality of its service are given

Incubadores d'empreses: un instrument de suport a l'emprenedoria amb bona salut a Catalunya

The business incubators were newness in Catalonia during the last decade. They proliferated throughout all catalan geography, although during the last three years there have appeared some stabilization signals in the sector. Actually, it has only been created two new business incubators and the existing ones have not increased their supply, neither in physical available space nor in new services. It is observed that the profile of the existing incubators explains the strong presence of service companies. Thus, a clear attempt of specialization of the incubators is detected. At the same time, the virtual incubators and incubators linked to universities are arising new models that could be the paradigm of business incubators from now on

Corruption in building the image of politics in television news broadcasts

This work analyses the political news of eight Spanish television channels in order to see what image is built of politics, and particularly how the news of corruption affects the image of politics in Spanish news broadcasts. Different cases of corruption such as Gürtel, Palma Arena and those associated with judge Baltasar Garzón in his final stage in office, occupy part of the study. A new methodology is therefore proposed that enables the quality of the political information emitted from inside and outside the political content of the news programmes to be observed. Particular attention is paid to the news broadcasts of Televisión Española and Cuatro as those which offer a more balanced view of politics, and channels such as La Sexta, which give priority to a narrative construction of politics in the news programmes around causes of corruption.

La necròpolis protohistòrica de Sebes (Flix, Ribera d'Ebre)

The archaeological research carried out between 2005 and 2008 at the site of Sebes (Flix, Tarragona) has identified an habitat of the early Iron Age and a contemporary burial site. In general the interrements are secondary cremations buried under circular tumuli. We focus on the first results of these interventions, as well as on the paleoanthropological analyses, the radiocarbon datings and the geophysical surveys.

TRPM5-mediated calcium uptake regulates mucin secretion from human colon goblet cells

Mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) is secreted by goblet cells of the respiratory tract and, surprisingly, also expressed de novo in mucus secreting cancer lines. siRNA-mediated knockdown of 7343 human gene products in a human colonic cancer goblet cell line (HT29-18N2) revealed new proteins, including a Ca(2+)-activated channel TRPM5, for MUC5AC secretion. TRPM5 was required for PMA and ATP-induced secretion of MUC5AC from the post-Golgi secretory granules. Stable knockdown of TRPM5 reduced a TRPM5-like current and ATP-mediated Ca(2+) signal. ATP-induced MUC5AC secretion depended strongly on Ca(2+) influx, which was markedly reduced in TRPM5 knockdown cells. The difference in ATP-induced Ca(2+) entry between control and TRPM5 knockdown cells was abrogated in the absence of extracellular Ca(2+) and by inhibition of the Na(+)/Ca(2+) exchanger (NCX). Accordingly, MUC5AC secretion was reduced by inhibition of NCX. Thus TRPM5 activation by ATP couples TRPM5-mediated Na(+) entry to promote Ca(2+) uptake via an NCX to trigger MUC5AC secretion
