Sobre o gênero Vesicapalpus (Araneae, Linyphiidae) no sul do Brasil

Vesicapalpus serranus sp. nov., do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, é descrita, ilustrada e são apresentados dados ecológicos desta espécie. A fêmea de Vesicapalpus simplex Millidge, 1991 é descrita, ilustrada e novos dados de distribuição geográfica são fornecidos.

Contribuição à taxonomia de três tribos de Lamiinae (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae)

Novas espécies são descritas em Onciderini: Hypsioma solangeae sp. nov., do Brasil (Mato Grosso ?) e Hypsioma cariua sp. nov., da Bolívia (Santa Cruz); Hemilophini: Piratininga mocoia sp. nov. e Eranina piterpe, sp. nov., ambas da Bolívia (Santa Cruz); Aerenicini: Phaula atyroa sp. nov., do Brasil (Mato Grosso do Sul) e Aerenicopisis rejaneae sp. nov., do Brasil (Tocantins). Figuramos a cores Oncideres fulvoguttata Dillon & Dillon, 1946. Duas espécies de Phaula, P. lichenigera (Perty, 1832) e P. splendida (Galileo & Martins, 1987) são figuradas para comparação com Phaula atyroa sp. nov.

Uma nova espécie de Cecidomyiidae (Diptera) associada com Sebastiania glandulosa (Euphorbiaceae)

Schizomyia spherica sp. nov., que induz galhas esféricas em Sebastiania glandulosa, é descrita e ilustrada com base em larvas, pupas, machos e fêmeas de material coletado na restinga da Barra de Maricá (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil).

Revisão taxonômica das espécies do gênero Roeboides grupo-affinis (Ostariophysi, Characiformes, Characidae)

A revisão taxonômica do gênero Roeboides grupo-affinis é apresentada. Sete espécies são reconhecidas: R. affinis (Günther, 1868) das drenagens dos rios Amazonas, Orinoco e Paraná-Paraguai, rios da Guiana, Suriname e sistema Tocantins-Araguaia; R. biserialis Garman, 1890 da drenagem do rio Amazonas; R. descalvadensis Fowler, 1932 das drenagens dos rios Amazonas e Paraná-Paraguai; R. oligistos Lucena, 2000 da bacia do rio Amazonas; R. numerosus Lucena, 2000 da bacia do rio Orinoco; R. xenodon (Reinhardt, 1851) da bacia do rio São Francisco e R. sazimai sp. nov., conhecida dos rios Parnaíba and Pindaré-Mearim, nordeste do Brasil. Roeboides paranensis Pignalberi, 1975 é considerado sinônimo de R. descalvadensis; Roeboides prognathus e R. thurni Eigenmann, 1912 sinônimos de R. affinis. Lectótipos são designados para R. affinis, R. biserialis e R. francisci Steindachner, 1908. Uma chave de identificação das espécies de Roeboides grupo-affinis é fornecida.

Three new species of Mesabolivar (Aranea, Pholcidae) from leaf litter in urban environments in the city of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil

In this study we describe three new litter inhabiting species of Mesabolivar González-Sponga, 1998 from nine urban forest remnants in the metropolitan region of the city of São Paulo, Brazil: M. forceps, M. mairyara and M. cavicelatus. In three of these remnants, we conduced a three year sampling using pitfall traps. Mesabolivar forceps sp. nov. was the most abundant pholcid (n=273 adults), always present in the samples, but with highest numbers in spring and summer. Mesabolivar mairyara sp. nov. was the second most abundant species (n=32), but the majority of individuals were collected in March 2001. Only three individuals of M. cavicelatus sp. nov. were collected.

Pseudotyphistes biriva sp. nov. do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul é descrita e ilustrada. Dados ecológicos da nova espécie são apresentados.

Nova espécie de Trichorhina (Isopoda, Oniscidea, Plathyarthridae) do Brasil

Trichorhina tatianae sp. nov., encontrada em Araranguá, Morro dos Conventos, Estado de Santa Catarina, é descrita. A nova espécie pode ser facilmente identificada pela expansão lateral do ísquio do pereiópodo 7 do macho. Trichorhina tatianae sp.nov. é conhecida somente da localidade-tipo.

Two new species of Drosophila belonging to the canalinea group (Diptera, rosophilidae)

Drosophila piratininga sp. nov. and Drosophila sampa sp. nov., belonging to the canalinea group of the subgenus Drosophila, are described based mostly on wild-caught specimens collected at a forest reserve of the Cidade Universitária "Armando de Salles Oliveira", an urban remnant of the montane Atlantic Forest located at west São Paulo city, state of São Paulo, Brazil. The two species are readily distinguished from each other mostly by having different wing patterns: the main crossveins being remarkably clouded in the first one and unclouded in the latter. Illustrations of terminalia are also provided.

A new species of Schizomyia (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae, Asphondyliini) associated with Tetrapterys phlomoides (Malpighiaceae)

Schizomyia maricaensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on the pupa, male, female, and gall. This species induces rosette galls on Tetrapterys phlomoides (Malpighiaceae).

Espécie nova de Xestoblatta (Blattaria, Blattellidae) do Estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil

Xestoblatta insularis sp. nov. é descrita com base nas placas genitais, estruturas genitais do macho e na modificação do sétimo tergito abdominal. Xestoblatta Hebard, 1916 é registrado pela primeira vez no sul do Brasil.

A new species of Melanophryniscus (Anura, Bufonidae) from Uruguay

A new species of bufonid toad of the genus Melanophryniscus from northern Uruguay is described. It is included in the M. moreirae group and its external morphology is similar to Melanophryniscus sanmartini. Melanophryniscus sp. nov. is distinguished by having a light brown dorsal coloration with six darker longitudinal glandular ridges on the dorsal surface of the body and the gular region uniformly black.

Atrocolus mariahelenae, novo gênero e espécie de Anacolini (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae)

Atrocolus mariahelenae gen. nov., sp. nov. do Brasil (Bahia) é descrito. Inclui-se chave para identificação dos gêneros Neotropicais de Anacolini.

Two new species of Caulleriella (Polychaeta, Cirratulidae) from Argentina

Caulleriella bremecae and C. galeanoi (Polychaeta: Cirratulidae) are newly described from Mar del Plata, Argentina (38ºS, 57ºW). Both species have small, red-pigmented nuchal organs (lateral "eyes") on the prostomium. Caulleriella bremecae sp. nov. is further characterized by a peristomium without annulations except for a narrow anterior dorsal fold, posterior part of peristomium extending posterodorsally over chaetiger 1, latter extending posterodorsally over chaetiger 2 and with slightly separated grooved palps arising middorsally; notochaetae of chaetigers 1-23 all smooth capillaries, thereafter with six bidentate sigmoid hooks and 3-4 capillaries, both types fewer on last 4-5 chaetigers; neurochaetae of chaetigers 1-2 comprised of 8 bidentate hooks and 1-2 capillaries, thereafter only bidentate hooks, decreasing in number posteriorly. The species is frequent and abundant throughout the year in the intertidal mussel beds situated 200-700m from the sewage outfall of Mar del Plata city. Caulleriella galeanoi sp. nov. is characterized by a peristomium with three annulations dorsally, with grooved palps arising from annulus 3, and by smooth capillary chaetae in noto- and neuropodia of chaetigers 1-2. Bidentate hooks are present in neuropodia from chaetiger 3, numbering 5-6 in anterior and middle chaetigers, 1-3 in posterior ones. Notopodia have 3-6 pairs of smooth capillary chaetae, decreasing in number posteriorly. From chaetiger 13-20, notopodia with 1-2 capillary chaetae and 1-2 bidentate hooks. Specimens held in aquaria supplied with water and the green alga Vaucheria sp. (Vaucheriaceae) from the intertidal zone reproduced asexually by fission. Gametes were not observed in any specimens.

É descrita uma nova espécie de Tabanidae (Diptera), Chlorotabanus flagellatus sp. nov. , distribuída na região amazônica, Estados do Amazonas e Pará. Diagnose, discussão e ilustrações dos caracteres externos e internos são fornecidas.

New records of chewing lice (Insecta, Phthiraptera) from birds of southern Brazil, with description of a new species

A collection of chewing lice was studied from the Natural History Museum of the Universidade Católica de Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Twenty three samples from 16 bird species were examined. Included therein was a new species of the genus Plegadiphilus Bedford, 1939 which is described, illustrated and compared to P. cayennensis Emerson & Price, 1969. An updated list of chewing lice species recorded from birds of that state is presented.
