The railroad, from 1870 and on, becomes an usual complaining in the press s and politician elite s speeches, especially because of Natal s geographic isolation. The implantation of two railroads in the capital territory Estrada de Ferro de Natal a Nova Cruz, afterwards part of Great Western Railway Company network, and Estrada de Ferro Central do Rio Grande do Norte had serious implications in the urban environment. While railroad s structures were already consolidated, other transportation mechanisms were being implanted in the first decades of the 20th century, such as trams lines, which, by the way, was a transport modal that also used rails as a dislocation meaning. Considering these questions, we may ask: how come railroads and tramways demands, roads and buildings had influenced the internal organization of Natal? We work with the general hypothesis that the influence of technical networks, composed by tramways and railroads, over Natal s urban space happened in a diversified way, sometimes consolidating social aspects in certain areas, sometimes improving the occupation of others. The impact over the city s territory also happens in a diversified way between the buildings/railroad s complexes and the pathways. The different scale of the train in comparison to the trams velocity, size, noise level, flow, among others is also a cause to the different consequences in urban environment. The main objective of this work is to understand the role of circulation technical networks in the construction process of urban space in Natal, as a way to contribute to the urban historiography about the subject. The time frame adopted, between 1881 and 1937, marks the time path of railroads and tramways in Rio Grande do Norte: 1881 is the year of railroad s first section inauguration from Natal to So Jos do Mipibu as well of the railroad complex in the Republic Square in Natal; the year of 1937 marks the beginning of tramways declination process in the city. At this time railroads and tramways had to face more intensively the competition of motor vehicles. The theory reference adopted is based on concepts and analysis of authors, such as Flvio Villaa and Roberto Lobato Corra references to the concepts of urban structure , localization and accessibility and Gabriel Dupuy to explain the concept of urban technical networks . These references reveal the conflict of different realities in the urban universe interests and values which is an important factor about the construction of urban space. The information sources used were from two distinctive natures: primary, journals of the time studied and official government reports, and secondary, based on other works about the subject. It was also used by this study iconographic source, especially images from the data base of the research group Histria da Cidade, do Territrio e do Urbanismo .

Sustainability in buildings, while reducing the impact on the environment, contributes to the promotion of social welfare, to increase the health and productivity of occupants. The search for a way of build that meets the aspirations and development of humanity without, however, represent degradation of the environment, has become the great challenge of contemporary architecture. It is considered that the incorporation of principles that provide a sustainable building with careful choices of design solutions contribute to a better economic and thermal performance of the building, as well as functional and psychological comfort to its users. Based on this general understanding, this paper presents an architecture project aimed to health care whose the solutions adopted follow carefully the relevant legislation and sets his sights on the theme of sustainability. The methodology began with studies on the themes of verification service of deaths, sustainability and those application in construction developed through research in academic studies and analysis of architectural projects, using them like reference for the solutions adopted. Within the project analysis was performed a visit to the verification service of deaths in the city of Palmas in Tocantins, subsidizing information that, plus the relevant legislation, led to functional programming and pre-dimensional of the building to be designed. The result of this programming environments were individual records with information from environmental restrictions, space required for the development of activities, desirable flow and sustainability strategies, that can be considered as the first product of relevance of the professional master's degree. Finally we have outlined the basic design architecture of a Verification Service of Death SVO/RN (in portuguese), whose process of projecting defined as a guiding line of work four points: the use of bioclimatic architecture as the main feature projectual, the use of resources would provide minimal harm to the environment, the use of modulation and structure to the building as a form of rationalization and finally the search for solutions that ensure environmental and psychological comfort to users. Importantly to highlight that, besides owning a rare theme in literature that refers to architectural projects, the whole project was drawn up with foundations in projective criteria that contribute to environmental sustainability, with emphasis on thermal performance, energy efficiency and reuse of rainwater

This study reviews the spatial configuration from the road network of an urban compound formed by the cities of Crato, Juazeiro do Norte and Barbalha (the Crajubar - core of the Cariri metropolitan region, in the State of Cear, Brazil), in order to establish nexus (or relations) between different levels of accessibility and the formation/ transformation and specialization of centralities in local and metropolitan scales. Stemming from the Social Logic of Space theoretical and operational apparatus, the study explores modeling possibilities (with axial lines, segments and lines of continuity) which is then confronted to empirical observations concerning movement flows and land use, within a Geographic Information System database. At different scales of analysis, the results suggest evidences of continuity were found in the permanence of intra-urban centres and sub-centres within each town, whereas evidences of change pointed out to the formation of a new centrality of metropolitan magnitude in the neighbourhood referred to as the Tringulo, in the municipality of Juazeiro, where high levels of topological accessibility coincides with the appearance of new business buildings as well as with the emergence of urban equipment of a scale more adequate to meet a regional demand

This paper examines, through case studies, the organization of the production process of architectural projects in architecture offices in the city of Natal, specifically in relation to building projects. The specifics of the design process in architecture, the production of the project in a professional field in Natal, are studied in light of theories of design and its production process. The survey, in its different phases, was conducted between March 2010 and September 2012 and aimed to identify, understand, and analyze comparatively, by mapping the design process, the organization of production of building projects in two offices in Natal, checking as well the relationships of their agents during the process. The project was based on desk research and exploration, adopting, for both, data collection tools such as forms, questionnaires, and interviews. With the specific aim of mapping the design process, we adopted a technique that allows obtaining the information directly from employee agents involved in the production process. The technique consisted of registering information by completing daily, during or at the end of the workday, an individual virtual agenda, in which all agent collaborators described the tasks performed. The data collected allowed for the identification of the organizational structure of the office, its hierarchy, the responsibilities of agents, as well as the tasks performed by them during the two months of monitoring at each office. The research findings were based on analyses of data collected in the two offices and on comparative studies between the results of these analyses. The end result was a diagnostic evaluation that considered the level of organization and elaborated this perspective, as well as proposed solutions aimed at improving both the organization of the process and the relationships between the agents under the lens analyzed

This work aims to understand the spatial organization in the Town of Macau, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This approach focus on bringing back the history of the town, the main personages responsible for the construction of this place, denominated "social agents", as well as its social processes and the spatial forms derived from them. As the personages and their practices were identified, it was found out the existence of a driving force for structuring, interlocking, and maintaining the actions carried out by the social agents during the time. Such actions were materialized in the urban space: "the social segregation". The social segregation takes place as a specific geography of domination. The outcome of those owning the best areas" and ways of accessibility in the urban space, varies from the enrichment by property valorization, because of the concentration of public investments of infrastructure, to the comfort of easily reaching all the daily needs related to the displacements in the urban space. In the latter case, such facility has contributed to improve life quality. While one takes advantage of the location in the urban space, others are negatively affected by the same process. This research identified the salina worker as the weakest element of this social structure, occupying the urban periphery of the town of Macau. Such area is characterized by the lack of services and urban equipment in opposition to the center of the town, the locus of elite. This way, it is established the most known segregation pattern: center x periphery, in which the space acts as a mechanism of segregation

This essay studies about contemporary architecture in Joo Pessoa, capital city of Paraiba State, which analyzes the utilization of steel and aluminum materials from 1990 to 2002, period when significant increase of this utilization is seen. As references, the architectural analysis and Engel structures definitions were used to analyze 40 built buildings, universe researched, to bring together subsidies to comprehend the contemporary production, especially which use the metal as structural and esthetic-formal element

A conceptual discussion on architectural type and its role in theory and practice supports the construction of an analytical tool used for recognizing the typological evolution of hospital architecture in Western societies. The same tool is applied to analyze the typological evolution of hospital architecture in Natal, Brazil, through a sample of eighteen hospitals built in the city since the beginnings of 20th century. The conclusion is that typological evolution in Natal is almost the same as occidental one, except for a few singularities that can be explained by local social and economic development

This study deals with the discussions of contemporary interventions in public spaces in areas of heritage value. The product of this dissertation is an Intervention Project to Marechal Deodoro Square located in Teresina/PI center. The starting point for understanding the theme of this study is to investigate the accessibility and vitality of a public space - through relationship between form and uses. The spatial properties of accessibility and visibility as well as the distribution of land use - factors were associated with distinct patterns of vitality - and compared to usage patterns observed in situ and statements from users obtained through the results of the questionnaires. In attention to questions about the building constructed, particularly in historical centers, considers the guidelines to define intervention strategies in the square, consisted in the development of simulations that after evaluation of results of redesign, was chosen the best option to meet the necessary requirements to the performance, considering the spatial properties of integration and visibility that meet these requirements. Therefore, the "Intervention Project" carried out for the Marechal Deodoro Square characterization proposed items are discussed: spatial structure, vegetation, road network, pavements, street furniture and lighting

This work presents a low cost architecture for development of synchronized phasor measurement units (PMU). The device is intended to be connected in the low voltage grid, which allows the monitoring of transmission and distribution networks. Developments of this project include a complete PMU, with instrumentation module for use in low voltage network, GPS module to provide the sync signal and time stamp for the measures, processing unit with the acquisition system, phasor estimation and formatting data according to the standard and finally, communication module for data transmission. For the development and evaluation of the performance of this PMU, it was developed a set of applications in LabVIEW environment with specific features that let analyze the behavior of the measures and identify the sources of error of the PMU, as well as to apply all the tests proposed by the standard. The first application, useful for the development of instrumentation, consists of a function generator integrated with an oscilloscope, which allows the generation and acquisition of signals synchronously, in addition to the handling of samples. The second and main, is the test platform, with capabality of generating all tests provided by the synchronized phasor measurement standard IEEE C37.118.1, allowing store data or make the analysis of the measurements in real time. Finally, a third application was developed to evaluate the results of the tests and generate calibration curves to adjust the PMU. The results include all the tests proposed by synchrophasors standard and an additional test that evaluates the impact of noise. Moreover, through two prototypes connected to the electrical installation of consumers in same distribution circuit, it was obtained monitoring records that allowed the identification of loads in consumer and power quality analysis, beyond the event detection at the distribution and transmission levels.

Esta uma pesquisa exploratria, na qual foram analisados os artigos publicados entre 2008 e 2013, em revistas das reas de Biblioteconomia e Cincia da Informao que abordaram o tema usurios da informao com deficincia e acessibilidade. O levantamento dos artigos foi realizado pelo esquadrinhamento do sumrio de cada uma das revistas selecionadas. De acordo com a metodologia proposta, analisaram-se 25 artigos. As variveis analisadas foram: quantidade de publicaes sobre o tema; autoria; palavras-chave; metodologias descritas nos artigos analisados; e os tipos de deficincia, de acessibilidade e de tecnologias assistivas tratadas no corpus da pesquisa. Os resultados demostraram que a revista que mais publicou sobre o tema foi a Revista ACB; a instituio mais citada foi PUC-Campinas; prevaleceu a autoria mltipla; e, quanto metodologia, destacou-se a pesquisa bibliogrfica. A deficincia visual, assim como suas tecnologias assistivas e acessibilidade informao foram os tpicos que obtiveram maior ndice de interesse nos artigos estudados. Por meio desta pesquisa, pode-se perceber o nvel de importncia dos estudos sobre acessibilidade para deficientes realizados nas reas estudadas. Este estudo pode ser uma importante fonte sobre o tema, uma vez que compila informaes sobre as caractersticas das deficincias e sobre as leis que garantem o direito incluso e ao acesso a informao, alm de trazer questes acerca da acessibilidade, citando normas com aspectos voltados a bibliotecas e uso da web.

Diante das preocupaes da Cincia da Informao (CI) com os processos de tratamento da informao, constatou-se a importncia da conduo de estudos que auxiliem o desenvolvimento de processos e metodologias em ambientes informacionais hbridos. A partir deste pensamento, considera-se que a Arquitetura Informacional pervasiva proposta por Resmini e Rosati um desses recursos. Assim, esta pesquisa objetivou avaliar, atravs da aplicao das heursticas propostas por esses autores, os ambientes informacionais fsicos e digitais do Programa de Incubao de Empresas (PROINE) da Universidade Federal de Gois (UFG), analisando de que forma esse instrumento contribui para a construo de espaos informacionais hbridos que maximizem a experincia do usurio (UX). Aplicou-se metodologias de desenvolvimento e avaliao de ambientes digitais e realizou-se a aplicao das heursticas propostas por Resmini e Rosati possibilitando avaliar ambos ambientes atravs de diferentes canais informacionais. Destaca-se que a avaliao dos ambientes informacionais fsico e digital, com a utilizao de metodologias de apoio, permitiu que se realizasse as conexes com as heursticas, justamente pelo grau de complexidade apresentado por estes princpios. Este o ponto chave e principal objetivo alcanado, possibilitando apontar as falhas e realizar inferncias para maximizar a UX na utilizao dos canais informacionais avaliados.

The presence of non-linear loads at a point in the distribution system may deform voltage waveform due to the consumption of non-sinusoidal currents. The use of active power filters allows significant reduction of the harmonic content in the supply current. However, the processing of digital control structures for these filters may require high performance hardware, particularly for reference currents calculation. This work describes the development of hardware structures with high processing capability for application in active power filters. In this sense, it considers an architecture that allows parallel processing using programmable logic devices. The developed structure uses a hybrid model using a DSP and an FPGA. The DSP is used for the acquisition of current and voltage signals, calculation of fundamental current related controllers and PWM generation. The FPGA is used for intensive signal processing, such as the harmonic compensators. In this way, from the experimental analysis, significant reductions of the processing time are achieved when compared to traditional approaches using only DSP. The experimental results validate the designed structure and these results are compared with other ones from architectures reported in the literature.

O presente relatrio de estgio reflete o trabalho realizado e a experincia adquirida ao longo de seis meses na Cmara Municipal de Loures. Os trabalhos desenvolvidos correspondem, sobretudo, ao que era pretendido por parte da Cmara Municipal tendo sido aplicados, em parte, os conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo da licenciatura e do mestrado em Arquitetura Paisagista na Universidade de vora. Este relatrio incide sobre a regulamentao do mobilirio urbano em todo o Municpio de Loures, na caracterizao e proposta de interveno para alguns espaos abertos pertencentes ao concelho e na importncia da Arquitetura Paisagista no sector pblico; ABSTRACT: City Council of Loures: An Experience in Landscape Architecture in the Public Sector This internship report reflects the work done and experience gained over six months at the City Council of Loures. The work developed are primarily to what was intended by the City Council having been applied in part the knowledge acquired throughout the undergraduate and master's degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of vora. This report focuses on the regulation of street furniture throughout the Loures Municipality, characterization and proposal of intervention for some open spaces belonging to the municipality and the importance of Landscape Architecture in the public sector.
