The testimonial is a way of statement that demonstrates or admit the existence of a reality with which the enunciator has contacted. This is, thus, pushed to say what he saw, heard or touched. In this paper, we verified the effects of senses produced in the blog of Bishop Macedo, founder of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG), from a corpus which consists of nine testimonies of presumed believersselected among 64 statements distributed during the year, 2012. Instead of instantaneous testimonials, on a live presentation, these media narratives are underpinned by attributes such as hyperlinks, visuals, language translators, besides mechanisms of interaction and sharing in other spheres from mediatic slant. The problem of this analysis was born from the observation of regular points in the discursive architecture of these testimonials, when was identified the existing relation force between the sacred and the profane, everyday practices. During six months, analysis of the empirical material, we found some effects of the senses on the testimonials, as the dialectic structure and the need for denuding a precarious past, an engagement to shield the figure of Macedo and the UCKG towards society; a update of a crusade against other religions; and the presence of certain sensuality in self-deprecation of the deponents, and an unequal relation of forces (sacred and profane) in the construction of truth. In order of succeeding in this investigation, we used the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Analysis of French Discourse (AD), denouncing the qualitative nature of the research. As a methodological principle, we still use transdisciplinarity, which validated some of our dialogues, especially with philosophy. The conception of discourse modeled by a media support and transpassed by the subject(s) and story (ies) characterized the perspective of the research

In this work, we discuss the construction of Juazeiro in the state of Ceará -, as a sacred space from the analysis of the testimonies of nine religious women called beatas in an Episcopal process in the late nineteenth century. This process was initiated in 1891 to investigate the occurrence of an Eucharistic miracle with beata Maria Magdalena do Espírito Santo de Araújo. We show that the punitive strategies of the Diocese eventually caused a reordering of pilgrimages to Juazeiro which until 1894 worshipped the Precious Blood and that after the condemnation of the phenomena by the Holy See are rearranged around the figure of Father Cicero Romão Batista, under the pretext of worshipping the priest himself and also Nossa Senhora das Dores, currently the patron saint of the city of Juazeiro do Norte.

Este artigo apresenta um exame preliminar de dois cultos religiosos populares que ocorrem atualmente no Nordeste do Brasil. Em dois cemitérios, no Rio Grande do Norte, o cangaceiro Jararaca e o ladrão homicida Baracho (espécie de ‘serial killer’, conhecido como ‘matador de motoristas’), são objetos de devoção religiosa por parte de crentes que afirmam ter alcançado milagres por seu intermédio ou que acreditam que virão a alcançá-los por meio de promessas que então, à beira de seus túmulos, não hesitam em fazer. A fé em seus milagres convive com a memória dos feitos dos bandidos que foram em vida, narrados com um misto de admiração e reprovação moral. O tradicional modelo do bandido social, que rouba para dar aos pobres, vem então em seu socorro, de modo a permitir uma continuidade entre o passado criminoso e o presente ‘santificado’. Dentre os fatores centrais nesse processo de ‘santificação’ do bandido, segundo o discurso dos entrevistados, estão a morte violenta e o sofrimento físico e moral a ela associados. O quadro esboçado aqui mostra-nos que se trata de santos muito especiais, isto é, santos precários, posto que sua santidade é objeto de constante controvérsia e contestação mesmo por aqueles que acreditam em seu poder de operar milagres. E parece ser mesmo isso o que os torna tão interessantes, mesmo do ponto de vista dos seus adeptos.

This article reflects on the votive objects exhibited in the room of promises situated in the National Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida, located in the city named Aparecida (São Paulo, Brazil). At the sanctuary, there is an area to receive and exhibit votive offerings, which are donated as payment or to initiate a relationship of faith. This article’s aim is to understand how, from entering the room of promises, the votive object is selected and receives new directions, within the Sanctuary or outside it. Nonetheless, a small number are kept in this specific room dedicated to votive offerings. These objects become documents, social agents, because they reveal stabilization within associative relationships. With the help of readings from Information Science and other areas, and after carrying out ethnographic research over three years, this article shows how the materiality of information is indispensable for apprehending the relationship between society and information. Through contact with the votive offerings, the visitor establishes inferences, interpretations, which assist in comprehending the space, faith, and Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida.

In this article we aim to discuss the treatment given to religiosity and sacral in the poem A Máquina do Mundo Repensada (AMMR), published in 2000. In spite of the existence of Bible transcriations made by Haroldo de Campos, especially in the last years of his life, we have made an option to discuss this in the poem because in its pages the religiosity and the sacral amalgamate with the poetic, revealing an interesting creative work.
