Los estudios de Antropolog??a ante el proceso de convergencia europea

Se realiza una investigaci??n y se adaptan los estudios de Antropolog??a de las universidades espa??olas, al proceso de convergencia europea. Se constituye un grupo permanente de trabajo formado por 18 profesores y catedr??ticos cuya funci??n es la de suministrar informaci??n y participar en discusiones y reuniones en distintos ??mbitos acad??micos. Se pone en marcha el proyecto y se crea una plataforma de observaci??n, seguimiento y participaci??n en el proceso de convergencia europea de los estudios superiores en el ??mbito de la Antropolog??a Social. En las reuniones, se pone de manifiesto la problem??tica espec??fica de los estudios de Antropolog??a en el marco del nuevo Espacio Europeo de Educaci??n Superior, prestando mayor atenci??n a la modificaci??n de la estructura curricular, a los planes de estudios y la reorganizaci??n de las competencias profesionales. Se genera material y documentaci??n ??til tanto para los profesores como para el personal acad??mico y los alumnos interesados en el Grado de Antropolog??a.

La intervención de ayuda psicomotriz en el marco escolar.

Este artículo se refiere, en una primera parte, a la relación de ayuda psicomotriz terapéutica: en el marco escolar, las indicaciones para este tipo de intervención, a partir del sentido que le damos a la expresividad del niño, lo cual nos lleva a la elaboración de unas hipótesis diagnósticas. Se describen los contenidos conceptuales que se utilizan y que son los que permiten significar las alteraciones de la expresividad. Las estrategias de intervención quedan descritas en los contenidos actitudinales y procedimentales. En una segunda parte, se profundiza en las teorías del holding y del espacio transicional, de Winnicott, como conceptos teóricos relevantes de este contexto.

La maleta viajera : una experiencia para leer en familia

Se plantea este proyecto ante la necesidad de fomentar la lectura, considerando que es ineficaz planearla como una actividad de estudio o por imposici??n. Se trata de crear un ambiente favorable para que surja de los ni??os y ni??as el seguir leyendo ya que entre los tres y los doce a??os se generan todos los h??bitos y aficiones. Consiste en una maleta llena de libros que rota por las aulas y los hogares para poder leerlos en familia, de distintas tem??ticas y dirigidos a diversas edades. Se incluye, adem??s una gu??a de uso y una agenda con actividades donde se recogen experiencias y propuestas.

Millôr Fernandes e a nova Museologia

"O progresso é natural", afirma Millôr Fernandes (Isto É, 29 de Abril de 1987) puxando nota de roda-pé que remete a Noel Rosa. Depois de afirmação tão séria o humorista, improvisado em museólogo, informa que "em Tóquio toquianos prevenidos contra a poluição andam com venda num olho. Descansam um usam o outro, descansam o outro, usam o um." Mais adiante informa que "a Sony mandou instalar em sua sede, também em Tóquio, uma máquina de vender oxigênio." E por uma ótica prospectiva adianta: "Já, já São Paulo entra no páreo - teremos no viaduto do Café" - inventado por Millôr - "uma loja de clorificação dos olhos". "Portanto - arremata o humorista - aproveitando a onda, por que não levar a coisa às suas últimas consequências e criar museus ao ar livre onde, por preço acessível, crianças e adultos possam ver, cheirar e mesmo subir em árvores!? Bolei até um nome pro museu - Praça Pública. Será que pega?" Ao que tudo indica a idéia não vingou - ainda que Millôr acenasse com a possibilidade de se cobrar preços acessíveis para a coisa pública - pois, a cada dia é menor o número de crianças e adultos que podem ver, cheirar e subir em árvores, seja pelo clima de violência nos grandes centros urbanos, o que inibe o acesso da população às áreas verdes, seja pela gradual e sistemática redução dessas mesmas áreas ou ainda pelo corre-corre urbano. O fato, no entanto, é que a idéia é brilhante e que Millôr, não se sabe com que referência acadêmicas, porém com fina ironia, estabelece uma relação de aproximação entre a instituição museu e a ecologia; entre a instituição museu e a praça pública - que "é do povo como o céu é do condor", e na rota do progresso natural, do Concord. Nos periódicos especializados esta relação está incluída no bojo da denominada Nova Museologia.

Heranças Globais - Memórias Locais

Heranças Globais Memórias Locais é uma revista semestral que apresenta os resultados do projeto de investigação ação em curso no Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra financiando pela FCT com o nome “Heranças Globais: a inclusão dos saberes das comunidades no desenvolvimento integrado do território” (SHRH/BPD/76601/2011). Procura dar voz aos processos de mudança que incidem sobre os patrimónios e nas heranças em diferentes comunidades locais envolvidas em processos de globalização. Procura reunir reflexões, disseminar visões e apresentar propostas de trabalho. Neste primeiro número são apresentados os resultados da investigação efetuada em 2012. Num primeiro bloco apresentam-se as propostas metodológicas desenvolvidas no âmbito da poética da intersubjetividade. No segundo bloco apresentamos um conjunto de textos que refletem a metodologia da poética da intersubjetividade na resolução de conflitos. Num terceiro bloco apresentamos as metodologias desenvolvidas através da utilização das narrativas biográficas como procedimento de tradução na construção da ecologia dos saberes no âmbito da sociologia das ausências e da sociologia das emergências. Num quarto bloco apresentamos um conjunto de experiências em trono da viagem e da análise da poética do espaço. Finalmente apresentamos alguns trabalhos que estão em desenvolvimento no ano de 2013.

Lugares de Memória da Escravatura e do Tráfico Negreiro (Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique, São Tomé e Príncipe)

Throughout the lengthy duration of this extremely violent slavery phenomenon where man's cruelty is made evident, it gave rise to places of memory: monuments, toponyms, ethnonymns, stories, legends and myths. Collective memory has constantly recycled this basic fabric. The aim of this Catalogue, dedicated to acknowledging the memory of places in the Portuguese-speaking African countries, is to identify, list, map and give information about the different sites of memory: those that can be seen and touched, without however forgetting those which have re-enacted the creative process thanks to oral tradition.

Dietary vitamin E modulates differential gene expression in the rat hippocampus: potential implications for its neuroprotective properties

A wide range of cell culture, animal and human epidemiological studies are suggestive of a role of vitamin E (VE) in brain function and in the prevention of neurodegeneration. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. In the current investigation Affymetrix gene chip technology was utilised to establish the impact of chronic VE deficiency on hippocampal genes expression. Male albino rats were fed either a VE deficient or standard diet (60 mg/kg feed) for a period of 9 months. Rats were sacrificed, the hippocampus removed and genes expression established in individual animals. VE deficiency showed to have a strong impact on genes expression in the hippocampus. An important number of genes found to be regulated by VE was associated with hormones and hormone metabolism, nerve growth factor, apoptosis, dopaminergic neurotransmission, and clearance of amyloid-beta and advanced glycated endproducts. In particular, VE strongly affected the expression of an array of genes encoding for proteins directly or indirectly involved in the clearance of amyloid beta, changes which are consistent with a protective effect of VE on Alzheimer's disease progression.

Dietary alpha-tocopherol affects differential gene expression in rat testes

Gene-chip technology was employed to study the effect of dietary vitamin E (VE) on gene expression in rat testes. Male albino rats were fed with either a diet deficient in VE or a standard diet containing VE. Differential gene expression was monitored at five individual time-points over a period of 14 months with all animals individually pro. led. Low VE intake resulted in the consistent upregulation of 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase and GATA binding protein 4, both involved in testosterone synthesis. Cyclin D3, important in cell cycle progression and Wilms tumor 1, related to cancer development, were also up-regulated in the vitamin E deficient animals. This study demonstrates that low dietary VE intake has long-term effects on gene expression in the testes. Our data provides insights into the possible molecular mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of vitamin E on the male reproductive organ.

Cigarette smokers differ in their handling of natural (RRR) and synthetic (all rac) alpha-tocopherol: a biokinetic study in apoE4 male subjects

We have compared the biokinetics of deuterated natural (RPR) and synthetic (all rac) alpha-tocopherol in male apoE4-carrying smokers and nonsmokers. In a randomized, crossover study subjects underwent two 4-week treatments (400 mg/day) with undeuterated RRR- and all rac-alpha-tocopheryl acetate around a 12-week washout. Before and after each supplementation period subjects underwent a biokinetic protocol (48 h) with 150 mg deuterated RRR- or all rac-alpha-tocopheryl acetate. During the biokinetic protocols, the elimination of endogenous plasma alpha-tocopherol was significantly faster in smokers (P < 0.05). However, smokers had a lower uptake of deuterated RRR than nonsmokers, but there was no difference in uptake of deuterated all rac. The supplementation regimes significantly raised plasma alpha-tocopherol (P < 0.001) with no differences in response between smokers and nonsmokers or between alpha-tocopherol forms. Smokers had significantly lower excretion of alpha-carboxyethyl-hydroxychroman than nonsmokers following supplementation (P < 0.05). Nonsmokers excreted more alpha-carboxyethyl-hydroxychroman following RRR than all rac; however, smokers did not differ in excretion between forms. At baseline, smokers had significantly lower ascorbate (P < 0.01) and higher F(2-)isoprostarres (P < 0.05). F-2-isoprostanes in smokers remained unchanged during the study, but increased in nonsmokers following alpha-tocopherol supplementation. These data suggest that apoE4-carrying smokers and nonsmokers differ in their handling of natural and synthetic alpha-tocopherol. (c) 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Activation of glutathione peroxidase via Nrf1 mediates genistein's protection against oxidative endothelial cell injury

Cellular actions of isoflavones may mediate the beneficial health effects associated with high soy consumption. We have investigated protection by genistein and daidzein against oxidative stress-induced endothelial injury. Genistein but not daidzein protected endothelial cells from damage induced by oxidative stress. This protection was accompanied by decreases in intracellular glutathione levels that could be explained by the generation of glutathionyl conjugates of the oxidised genistein metabolite, 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxyisoflavone. Both isoflavones evoked increased protein expression of gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase-heavy subunit (gamma-GCS-HS) and increased cytosolic accumulation and nuclear translocation of Nrf2. However, only genistein led to increases in the cytosolic accumulation and nuclear translocation of Nrf1 and the increased expression of and activity of glutathione peroxidase. These results suggest that genistein-induced protective effects depend primarily on the activation of glutathione peroxidase mediated by Nrf1 activation, and not on Nrf2 activation or increases in glutathione synthesis. alpha-tocopherol affects androgen metabolism in male rat

The Alpha-Tocopherol Beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Study has provided the first evidence implicating vitamin E in hormone synthesis. The effect of vitamin E on stereoidogenesis in testes and adrenal glands was assessed in growing rats using Affymetrix gene-chip technology. Dietary supplementation of rats with vitamin E (60 mg/kg feed) for a period of 429 days caused a significant repression of genes encoding for proteins centrally involved in the uptake (low-density lipoprotein receptor) and de novo synthesis (for example, 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A synthase, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, isopentenyl-diphosphate delta-isomerase, and farnesyl pyrophosphate synthetase) of cholesterol, the precursor of all steroid hormones. The present investigation indicates that dietary vitamin E may induce changes in stereoidogenesis by affecting cholesterol homeostasis.

The full infinite dimensional moment problem on semi-algebraic sets of generalized functions

We consider a generic basic semi-algebraic subset S of the space of generalized functions, that is a set given by (not necessarily countably many) polynomial constraints. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for an infinite sequence of generalized functions to be realizable on S, namely to be the moment sequence of a finite measure concentrated on S. Our approach combines the classical results about the moment problem on nuclear spaces with the techniques recently developed to treat the moment problem on basic semi-algebraic sets of Rd. In this way, we determine realizability conditions that can be more easily verified than the well-known Haviland type conditions. Our result completely characterizes the support of the realizing measure in terms of its moments. As concrete examples of semi-algebraic sets of generalized functions, we consider the set of all Radon measures and the set of all the measures having bounded Radon–Nikodym density w.r.t. the Lebesgue measure.
