Spatial structures of manufacturing clusters in Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, and Thailand

Examining the spatial structure of clusters is essential for deriving regional development policy implications. In this study, we identify the manufacturing clusters in Cambodia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and Thailand, using two indices—global extent (GE) and local density (LD)—as proposed by Mori and Smith (2013). We also analyze four different combinations of these indices to highlight the spatial structures of industrial agglomerations. Since industrial clusters often spread over administrative boundaries, the GE and LD indices—along with cluster mapping—display how the detected clusters fit into specific spatial structures.

Caracteristicas dos corredores de rua : um mapeamento dos participantes da 41a Prova Rústica Tiradentes

The aim of this study was to map the age profile according to the sex of the runners who participated in the 41a Prova Rústica Tiradentes held in the city of Maringa-PR. This research was descriptive with a mixed approach. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (frequency and relative percentage) using the computerized statistical package SPSS version 20.0 was used. A total of 2609 runners completed the proof, 67.9 por ciento male and 32.0 por ciento female, what could show greater adherence of male runners, if compared with the female group. It is noteworthy that the age group from 30-34 years old was the most representative in both sexes. It was concluded that there was presence of runners in all categories offered in Prova Rústica Tiradentes, in both sexes; thus, the proof fulfills its social role of promotion the sport of participation, and especially enabling that a greater number of people participate.

A medicina baseada na prova na reconfiguração científica da medicina contemporânea: primeiras aproximações exploratórias

No decurso das últimos décadas tem-se assistido à emergência e à rápida consolidação de uma nova abordagem no interior da medicina, inteiramente consagrada à tentativa de conferir bases científicas mais sólidas a uma prática profissional muito marcada pela incerteza e por grandes variações na aplicação de um conhecimento cujos pressupostos são muitas vezes vistos como relativamente ambíguos e refractários a um escrutínio científico rigoroso e sistemático. Entre outros problemas de fundo que aqui irão ser mais demoradamente aflorados, naturalmente a questão da vocação acaba também por surgir largamente desafiada por novas lógicas inscritas na matriz técnico-científica da medicina, pois, ao fim e ao cabo, são os fundamentos de uma longa tradição histórica de humanismo médico que se encontram hoje em profunda reconfiguração, enredados numa difícil encruzilhada em que se afiguram ténues e complexas as formas de compatibilização dos princípios filosóficos fundadores da profissão, com as actuais exigências e imperativos científicos da biomedicina contemporânea.
