Argamassas do grupo escolar Augusto Severo/RN: caracterização e incidência de manifestações patológicas

The search for cultural heritage preservation should be a constant, in order to minimize the lost of historical and cultural identity of a country. As part of this cultural heritage, highlights the importance of historical buildings. For the principles of restoration are met its important to know the state of conservation and the existing materials. Given the above, this work aims to study the pathological manifestations of the mortar coating from the Grupo Escolar Augusto Severo. For this, was conducted historical survey of the building, on-site visits with visual observation, collecting samples of mortar coating and characterization through visual and laboratory analysis, XRF, XRD, TG/DTG, OM and SEM-EDS. From the observations, pathological manifestations were found as: cracks, detachment of the coating, dirt, use of inappropriate material basis of cement, efflorescence, mold and mildew and also incompatible material base of cement. It was found that the pathological manifestations were intensified due to lack of coverage in some spots and especially the abandonment of the building, that many years does not have restoration or any other type of preventive and corrective maintenance. The results of laboratory tests indicated that the mortars studied are based on lime, with calcitic nature, and siliceous aggregate, with the presence of clay in two samples. From the samples collected, two are composed of lime, sand and clay and two by lime and sand. Ética e educação clássica: virtude e felicidade no justo meio

O presente estudo debruça-se sobre a interface do problema educativo com a problemática da ética, compreendendo a pedagogia com a arte/ciência voltada para a busca do bem educar/instruir/formar. Para tanto, o texto mobilizará conceitos da concepção ética da Aristóteles; e, na atmosfera mental da Grécia clássica, recorre-se ao termo específico grego e transdisciplinar na origem: paideia. A seguir, este ensaio procura pontuar alguns aspectos da concepção iluminista a propósito do tema, valendo-se da noção kantiana de imperativo categórico, a qual teria sido precedida pelo parecer de Rousseau, segundo o qual a vontade - e não a razão - seria a marca distintiva do gênero humano no ambiente natural. A idéia de Piaget de uma ética da reciprocidade também é aqui mobilizada. Abordando diacronicamente a temática, serão analisados conceitos de autores clássicos no debate da relação entre educação e ética, com destaque para o sentido conferido por Hanna Arendt para a autoridade como critério distintivo da relação assimétrica entre o educador (as gerações adultas de maneira geral) e os estudantes (ou as novas gerações). Arendt defende, como conceito e pressuposto operatório, a dimensão necessariamente conservadora do ato educativo: compete ao educador preservar do mundo as novas gerações e preservar o mundo das novas gerações - para que estas não destruam o suporte e o acervo cultural acumulados.

Helena de Machado de Assis; Imagens literárias e a retórica da morte da nação inconclusa

The paper's theoretical conception of the history of Walter Benjamin, that is, that is constructed as an allegorical appeal, the conclusions about the disciplinary society of nineteenth century of Michel Foucault, the construction of the nation as a subtle game to remember and forget of Wander Miranda and the rhetoric of death and loss reflected in the speeches of the cultural heritage of José Reginaldo Santos Gonçalves, which allow you to analyze the work permeated by subjectivity and existential conflicts by Machado, who has it arranged in dialectic with the avant-garde literary romanticism and realism. In this relationship with the Greek myth of Helen, explained that characters with the nickname of Helena in Machado's work are not uncommon. As in classical Helena, Machado s Helena uses three rhetorical are the cause of the seizure of the nation. In this game of remembering and forgetting, in the daily plebiscite, Machado draw ideal images that forged our mythical past and commitment to the future. The suffering love of Helena is suffering from failure of the nation which would have led the author to the use of allegorical language, seeking a balance in the chaos generated by the opposition between cruelty and pity widespread view in an area where only left the character's confession guilt for the death. It is a simulacrum of unfinished nation, the space for the game of remembering and forgetting, while the rhetoric of negotiation of our Brazilianness

A nação pela pluma Natureza e sociedade no Museu do Índio (Rio de Janeiro, 1953-1957)

A história política do Museu do Índio, criado em 1953, no Rio de Janeiro, sob a orientação institucional do antropólogo Darcy Ribeiro, permite conhecer algumas relações sociais estabelecidas em torno de elementos da natureza no Brasil. O estudo do momento inicial na constituição deste patrimônio cultural, de sua história e das disputas que gerou, inclusive na memória, é realizado a partir da noção de coerência ilusória de uma geração de etnólogos, militares e intelectuais e da ação do Estado nacional brasileiro na década de 1950. As fontes e documentação consultadas são de natureza arquivística, jornalística e bibliográfica.

On the Origin of Cattle: How Aurochs Became Cattle and Colonized the World

Since their domestication in the Neolithic, cattle have belonged to our cultural heritage. The reconstruction of their history is an active field of research 1 that contributes to our understanding of human history. Archeological data are now supplemented by analyses of modern and ancient samples of cattle with DNA markers of maternal, paternal, or autosomal inheritance. The most recent genetic data suggest that maternal lineages of taurine cattle originated in the Fertile Crescent with a possible contribution of South-European wild cattle populations, while zebu cattle originate from the Indus Valley. Subsequently, cattle accompanied human migrations, which led to the dispersal of domestic cattle of taurine, indicine, or mixed origin over Asia, Africa, Europe, and the New World. This has resulted in their adaptation to different environments and considerable variation in appearance and performance. More recently, rational management of breeding led to international movements of sires, which again changed the global patterns of genetic diversity.

Archives information publishing new design in post-custodial regime: The National Archives Experience Digital Vaults

The uses of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Web environments for creation, treatment and availability of information have supported the emergence of new social-cultural patterns represented by convergences in textual, image and audio languages. This paper describes and analyzes the National Archives Experience Digital Vaults as a digital publishing web environment and as a cultural heritage. It is a complex system - synthesizer of information design options at information setting, provides new aesthetic aspects, but specially enlarges the cognition of the subjects who interact with the environment. It also enlarges the institutional spaces that guard the collective memory beyond its role of keeping the physical patrimony collected there. Digital Vaults lies as a mix of guide and interactive catalogue to be dealt in a ludic way. The publishing design of the information held on the Archives is meant to facilitate access to knowledge. The documents are organized in a dynamic and not chronological way. They are not divided in fonds or distinct categories, but in controlled interaction of documents previously indexed and linked by the software. The software creates information design and view of documental content that can be considered a new paradigm in Information Science and are part of post-custodial regime, independent from physical spaces and institutions. Information professionals must be prepared to understand and work with the paradigmatic changes described and represented by the new hybrid digital environments; hence the importance of this paper. Cyberspace interactivity between user and the content provided by the environment design provide cooperation, collaboration and sharing knowledge actions, all features of networks, transforming culture globally. © 2011 - IOS Press and the authors. Zoneamento do parque ecológico de ourinhos SP

The aim of this study was to carry out a zoning in the municipal ecological park of Ourinhos, SP, located southwest of São Paulo State, aiming to subsidize the planning and management of this area. With this purpose it was made an inventory of the landscape resources of this park with hypsometry, declivity, use of soil and zoning mappings. From this zoning, we analyzed the possibilities of implementing purposes of use, with the objective of preserving this area, minimizing the negative environmental impacts. Thus, this research was of extreme importance, since it allowed to identify and rank, in the territory, areas or sectors that are priority to the development of activities, as well as contribute to the conservation of natural and socio-cultural heritage.
