We developed a case study aimed to identify and to analyze how the approach to teaching and learning strategies occurs in a science teaching degree course and what are the possible influences of this formation on the pedagogical practice of these educators. The analysis focused on documents, questionnaires and interviews with lecturers and students. There is reduced diversity of strategies in the disciplines of the specific area, with prevalence of expository classes and of laboratory, and the lecturers seem to believe that a good knowledge of specific content is enough for teaching. Despite that pedagogical disciplines do explore diverse practices, many students incorporate the academic view prevailing in the course, repeating the model of their lecturers. We stress the need for initial teacher training to take into account both aspects, the domain of the specific contents and the best ways to mediate them, forming intellectuals able to discuss and to redraw their educative actions in a perspective of transformation of the reality.

This paper provides an overview of the reality of Colonial Corps created in the early twentieth century, in São Paulo, based on a cut of the genesis of the municipality of Peixoto Hawk when he was one of the centers for the accommodation of European immigrants; well as in parallel to the phase coronelismo intensified in the area. From this historical assumption, following a brief contemporary approach, already in the XXI century, in order to provoke a debate that can aggregate relevant contribution to the strategic purposes of the locality, including inserting the new reality imposed by the deployment of the Aerospace Hub in the town, represented by installation of Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S / A - Embraer. The present study aims to analyze the contribution of storytelling as a didactic resource in science education. The stories represents effective indicators to challenging situations as well as strengthen social, educational and emotional bonds. The research reported here allowed to present new ways to work the contents of Science Education, using the stories as interaction capabilities between content and affection. Keeping this in view, this work objectives was to observe the story telling as a resource for Science Education as well as identifying, analyze and to ponder which meanings assigned by teachers to this technique, their frequency of use and difficulties encountered in carrying out the activity. By the means of qualitative research, this study collected through interviews and by observations of practice in the classroom by their teachers from a municipal school in Pederneiras-SP. We concluded that the activities in the classroom, with the children propitiated them an interaction with the scientific content in a playful and pleasurable way, playing an important role in the formation of a critical and creative individual

Recently, Bourdieu’s sociological tradition has emerged as an important trend in research in science education. This paper presents some critiques elaborated by Bernard Lahire towards Bourdieu’s sociological approach. The main purpose of our incursion into Lahire’s critique is to argue and introduce the methodology of sociological portraits as an important resource for research in science education. After describing this methodology, it is illustrated with a portrait of dropout on an undergraduate course in chemistry. Diogo’s portrait illustrates, at the empirical level, some basic features of individual dispositions (variability, genesis, transferability, dichotomy and contextuality). From this portrait, it was possible to illustrate how the resonance between students’ and institution’s dispositions helps explain their sense of membership and belonging to the course. Finally, we highlight some potentialities of sociological portraits to the purposes of sociological research in science education.

We report here some outcomes of a research related to a didactical experience aiming to integrate the History of Science to the Physics Teaching, taking as background the historical development of the gravitational attraction. The research, of qualitative approach, is a case study and it was carried out in a sample of eleven students belonging to an undergraduate physics program (called licenciatura in Brazil) designed to from High School physics teachers in a São Paulo State Public University. We tried initially to reveal prospective teachers’ conceptions in order to provide a prepare that was used to guide the activities from the reality’s diagnosis. The aim was to promote discussions on the existence and persistence of alternative conceptions, on the historical evolution of the subject gravitational attraction, through readings and debates of texts contemplating recent subjects on the Science Education research, in order to generate dissatisfaction with traditional teaching models. The future High School physics teachers were asked to construct their own teaching proposal, through the development, in real situations, in a High School, of a minicourse based on: debates and synthesis developed in University classroom, the History of the Science and the student’s alternative conceptions. In this paper we will analyze future teachers’ alternative conceptions, the development of the course proposed, and details of the mini-courses taught by the prospective teachers in real situations, among High School students, its coherence and the posture changes observed in them.

The teaching of Science is one great challenge not only for educators but also for researchers in our country. In a globalized world where the social foundations, cultural and economic depend fundamentally on science and technology, science education is a basic requirement for the exercise of citizenship. Multiple initiatives have been taken to improve the quality of teaching of science practiced in our schools: the ReAction Program is the result of a set of actions developed by a public educational policy that invests in improving the Teaching of Science the elementary school. In this work, we present a history of this program and the search on the contribution and the actions developed, the collaborative research with a group of teachers-multiplier, and the evaluation of the teaching of science, measured from notes, frequency and speech teacher.

We can notice in the different sectors of the society a significant increase of individuals that possess some type of deficiency. Although there is an increasing process of inclusion, we find, even in Educational Institutions, barriers and limited conceptions on this subject. Thus, aiming at clarifying some questions related to this subject, we present some debates found in the literature about the Inclusive Education, Special Education and the construction of inclusive education strategies.
