This work focuses on the study of video compression standard MPEG. To this end, a study was undertaken starting from the basics of digital video, addressing the components necessary for the understanding of the tools used by the video coding standard MPEG. The Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) was formed in the late '80s by a group of experts in order to create international standards for encoding and decoding audio and video. This paper will discuss the techniques present in the video compression standard MPEG, as well as its evolution. Will be described in the MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10), however, the last two will be presented with more emphasis, because the standards are present in most modern video technologies, as in HDTV broadcasts

Overall, in Brazilian schools, the concept of reading does not take into account its possibilities and its meaning for life. But read is assigning meaning to something , make sense, interact with the text read. Thus, the present study addresses the mechanical reading, that without contextualization, performed on a technique by joining letters and syllables loose and also reading social use, consisting of statements, dialogism , polyphony and heteroglossy. It is known that the mechanical reading brings undesirable consequences, including learning problems, such as lack of attention, concentration, memory, imagination. When the reading is taught in a systematic way, with only the goal of the code decoding of written language, destroys social perspectives and intellectual development. It is common, when you offer the children a book, there the difficult disinterest of textual interpretation, because there is no attribute meaning to the content, and even the ability to interact with the text. With the interest in studying the dialogic reading this and the statements and genres, the present study was based on several authors: Bakhtin (1988, 2000), Schneuwly and Dolz (2000), Faraco (2009) and Ponzio (2009) Jolibert (1994), Bajard (2002; 2007) Foucambert (1997) Martins ( 1985) and Smith ( 1999). Aim for this study the following research question: what are the contributions of Mikhail Bakhtin's theory to the teaching of reading from kindergarten through the first grade of elementary school? Our hypothesis is that if they are guaranteed to pre -school and elementary school beginners diversified materials and new approaches in teaching reading and encouragement to her, will be developed in children a taste for the act of reading, so that they can assign meaning and significance, making reading part of their lives...

This study establishes that for a given binary BCH code C0 n of length n generated by a polynomial g(x) ∈ F2[x] of degree r there exists a family of binary cyclic codes {Cm 2m−1(n+1)n}m≥1 such that for each m ≥ 1, the binary cyclic code Cm 2m−1(n+1)n has length 2m−1(n + 1)n and is generated by a generalized polynomial g(x 1 2m ) ∈ F2[x, 1 2m Z≥0] of degree 2mr. Furthermore, C0 n is embedded in Cm 2m−1(n+1)n and Cm 2m−1(n+1)n is embedded in Cm+1 2m(n+1)n for each m ≥ 1. By a newly proposed algorithm, codewords of the binary BCH code C0 n can be transmitted with high code rate and decoded by the decoder of any member of the family {Cm 2m−1(n+1)n}m≥1 of binary cyclic codes, having the same code rate.

A Goppa code is described in terms of a polynomial, known as Goppa polynomial, and in contrast to cyclic codes, where it is difficult to estimate the minimum Hamming distance d from the generator polynomial. Furthermore, a Goppa code has the property that d ≥ deg(h(X))+1, where h(X) is a Goppa polynomial. In this paper, we present a decoding principle for Goppa codes constructed by generalized polynomials, which is based on modified Berlekamp-Massey algorithm.

In this paper, we introduced new construction techniques of BCH, alternant, Goppa, Srivastava codes through the semigroup ring B[X; 1 3Z0] instead of the polynomial ring B[X; Z0], where B is a finite commutative ring with identity, and for these constructions we improve the several results of [1]. After this, we present a decoding principle for BCH, alternant and Goppa codes which is based on modified Berlekamp-Massey algorithm. This algorithm corrects all errors up to the Hamming weight t ≤ r/2, i.e., whose minimum Hamming distance is r + 1.

By showing how the problem of illiteracy is present among adolescents 11-14 years of age, attending school regularly, and realize how much this problem affect your life not only in school but also in their participation in society, it has set the aim of this research to alphabetize and write the lyrics registered adolescents of elementary school (6th to 9th grade) in a public school, by the Paulo Freire alphabetization method. The type of research that best responds to the proposed objective was action research with a qualitative approach. The data obtained from this research were analyzed in three topics: the search and selection of generating words, technical literacy and consciousness of each generating words (encoding and decoding of the situation experienced this situation with critical weight, pragmatic), and in the end, the analysis of the production of genre personal letter. The survey results indicate that, indeed, it is possible to write the lyrics and literate adolescents with Freirean literacy method. Also indicate the need to continue this work with the subjects of this research to develop linguistic and discursive skills to dominate the genre studied, both in the phenomenon of literacy, as in the write the lyrics. The results also point to another need, which is the extension of this research work in the community and other schools of the city, who have this problem of having teenagers in Elementary Education II, without being literate, as an alternative to overcome this major problem of illiteracy

A CMOS/SOI circuit to decode PWM signals is presented as part of a body-implanted neurostimulator for visual prosthesis. Since encoded data is the sole input to the circuit, the decoding technique is based on a double-integration concept and does not require dc filtering. Nonoverlapping control phases are internally derived from the incoming pulses and a fast-settling comparator ensures good discrimination accuracy in the megahertz range. The circuit was integrated on a 2 mu m single-metal SOI fabrication process and has an effective area of 2mm(2) Typically, the measured resolution of encoding parameter a was better than 10% at 6MHz and V-DD=3.3V. Stand-by consumption is around 340 mu W. Pulses with frequencies up to 15MHz and alpha = 10% can be discriminated for V-DD spanning from 2.3V to 3.3V. Such an excellent immunity to V-DD deviations meets a design specification with respect to inherent coupling losses on transmitting data and power by means of a transcutaneous link.

The aim of present work is the interpretation of a Coca Cola soft drink advertising image that is shown on a billboard in the city of Presidente Prudente, in São Paulo state. The billboard shows a scene of the video titled Happiness Factory which was presented on television in 2008. Decoding this kind of image, which is integrated to the theoretical and methodical option, favors the visual perception of shapes and their meanings as a reading of the image and the inclusion of the studies of phenomenology of cultural geography to the social reality could reveal some other dimensions, such as the symbolic, the imaginary, the aesthetic ones.This fact will contribute to widen the social trait of Geography and it represents our object of study.The reading will be done after some reflexion on the function of an external advertisement, that is, within the urban context of Presidente Prudente when refering to billboard being studied. It will also be discussed the importance of becoming a critical reader when interpreting advertising messages presented by the communication means in general.

The theme of the reading in the first year of the literacy cycle has become recurrent in academic papers, research groups, discussion forums, conferences etc. and raised different positions depending on the theoretical framework with which it is studied. While it is granted that reading instruction this school year is to ensure the ability to encode and decode and learn and understand the meanings and the meanings of what we read. In this work, it formed a general objective to investigate how reading skills are being developed in the classroom and the strategies used to develop decoding and understanding of meanings. The question that formed the north to the survey was as follows: The strategies and procedures being used in the teaching of reading in the early literacy process develop the coding and decoding skills beyond the grasp and understanding of the meanings of ideas? The specific objectives were established: a) investigate how is the teaching of reading in the first grade of elementary school; b) identify the teaching strategies and the design of reading and reader that the teacher of the class has observed and relate it to the way he teaches; c) verify that the teaching of reading in the first year of the literacy process, develop the early reading skills, decoding, and favors the development of the apprehension and understanding of the meanings of what we read. The methodology included field research, from a qualitative interpretation approach and had as direct data source the natural environment in which the teaching of reading has been developed. The work then displays data results analyzed in the light of literacy concepts distinguished by Soares (2011), and reading by Silva (1983), Foucambert (1994), Solé (1998), among others. The results were extracted inferences and interpretations. Literature sample that the basic literacy with literacy differentiates the development of the citizens forming them to act in critical way in society. This research had as objective to analyze nuances of the basic literacy process and literacy of a pupil who little if express verbally, in the classroom, having the discursivos sorts as entered. Case study is about a research of qualitative interpretativa boarding of the type. The data had been collected by the following instruments: systematic comment, interviews with three professors of the citizen, daily of field and written production of the citizen. The results of the research point, on the other hand, with respect to the education of the writing and initial reading that if restricts to the basic literacy concept as technique of the writing, codification and decoding, without advancing for the basic literacy as apprehension and understanding of meanings. On the other hand, they point that the initial writing is organized to reach only the independent literacy, while the ideological literacy is distant of the pertaining to school universe, in the initial years of Basic Education

Maximum-likelihood decoding is often the optimal decoding rule one can use, but it is very costly to implement in a general setting. Much effort has therefore been dedicated to find efficient decoding algorithms that either achieve or approximate the error-correcting performance of the maximum-likelihood decoder. This dissertation examines two approaches to this problem. In 2003 Feldman and his collaborators defined the linear programming decoder, which operates by solving a linear programming relaxation of the maximum-likelihood decoding problem. As with many modern decoding algorithms, is possible for the linear programming decoder to output vectors that do not correspond to codewords; such vectors are known as pseudocodewords. In this work, we completely classify the set of linear programming pseudocodewords for the family of cycle codes. For the case of the binary symmetric channel, another approximation of maximum-likelihood decoding was introduced by Omura in 1972. This decoder employs an iterative algorithm whose behavior closely mimics that of the simplex algorithm. We generalize Omura's decoder to operate on any binary-input memoryless channel, thus obtaining a soft-decision decoding algorithm. Further, we prove that the probability of the generalized algorithm returning the maximum-likelihood codeword approaches 1 as the number of iterations goes to infinity.
