Effect of PbO on precipitation of laser-induced gold nanoparticles inside silicate glasses

We report on three-dimensional precipitation of Au nanoparticles in gold ions-doped silicate glasses by a femtosecond laser irradiation and further annealing. Experimental results show that PbO addition plays the double roles of inhibiting hole-trapped centers generation and promoting formation and growth of gold nanoparticles. Additionally, glass containing PbO shows an increased non-linear absorption after femtosecond laser irradiation and annealing. The observed phenomena are significant for applications such as fabrications of three-dimensional multi-colored images inside transparent materials and three-dimensional optical memory, and integrated micro-optical switches. Self-adaptive optical systems for long-distance flying optics

The focusing characteristics of long-distance flying optics were studied systemically for TEMmn Gaussian beams. The results show that the ABCD law of parameter q can be extended to Gaussian modes of any order when waist radius w in the imaginary part of parameter q is replaced by Rayleigh range Z(R) of a certain resonator in the equation. The difference between the real focal length and the geometric focal length, defined as Delta f, was calculated for laser applications. A novel self-adaptive optical system was demonstrated for precisely controlling the focusing characteristics of long-distance flying optics, Theoretical analyses and experimental results were consistent. Passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser with a Cr4+:YAG crystal saturable absorber

We demonstrate, for the first time as far as Re known, a passively Q-switched operation of a Nd:YVO4 laser in which a Cr4+:YAG crystal and a laser-diode bar are used as the saturable absorber and the pump source, respectively. Stable laser pulses as short as 28 ns with 20-mu J energy can be generated with this laser, which has the advantages of simplicity, high efficiency, and good long-term stability. Yb∶Y3Al5O12晶体晶格振动光谱的研究

采用提拉法生长Y3Al5O12(YAG)晶体和Yb3+掺杂原子数分数分别为5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%和100%的Yb∶Y3Al5O12(Yb∶YAG)晶体。系统表征和分析了Yb3+掺杂浓度对拉曼光谱的影响。随着Yb3+掺杂浓度的增加,晶体的振动模式没有明显的变化,晶体结构没有改变;在370 cm-1和785 cm-1附近,振动吸收峰的半峰全宽逐渐增大。分析得出,Yb3+掺杂浓度对晶体的晶格、对称性、荧光寿命均有影响,从而可能影响到晶体的光谱和激光性能。
