This project aims to explore the many methods used for the development of recommendation systems to user ’ s items and apply the content - based recommendation method on a prototype system whose purpose is to recommend books to users. This paper exposes the most popular methods for creating systems capable of providing items (products) according to user preferences, such as collaborat ive filtering and content - based. It also point different techniques that can be applied to calculate the similarity between two entities, for items or users, as the Pearson ’s method, calculating the cosine of vectors and more recently, a proposal to use a Bayesian system under a Dirichlet distribution. In addition, this work has the purpose to go through various points on the design of an online application, or a website, dealing not only oriented algorithms issues, but also the definition of development to ols and techniques to improve the user’s experience. The tools used for the development of the page are listed, and a topic about web design is also discussed in order to emphasize the importance of the layout of the application. At the end, some examples of recommender systems are presented for curiosity , learning and research purposes

The present study aimed to analyze how develops the reverse logistics process applied in electrical and electronic products. Such analysis was obtained through literature search and with the completion of a case study, which was developed at the company's Oxil Reverse Manufacture, showing the advantages obtained as well as the difficulties faced in the implementation of the reverse logistics process. The development of this research shows its importance in so far as the residues generated by electronic components, which are one of the most harmful to the environment and harmful to human health, highly possessing heavy metals and non-biodegradable materials in their composition. In this way, the components collected from this activity, should be properly recycled, reused and finally housed in suitable location, these steps that are part of the reverse logistics process

The waste, exaggerated and incorrect disposal of biomass are common practices in modern times where everything is disposable. However the growing concern with the nature and the environment compel man to give nobler destinations for these products through sustainability and recycling of waste. Banana peel is a residual biomass, which is not consumed. It generates tons of waste per week in São Paulo city. This trash is disposed in dumps and landfills, which could be reduced by using it as reinforcement in natural composites. The high density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polymer derived from the ethylene polymerization and is easily recycled. Which makes it a sustainable material. In the present work characteristics of the natural composite composed with banana peel and high-density polyethylene were studied. It was noted that removing the lignin present in the banana peel, the fiber introduces a significant improvement in thermal resistance. The preparation of composite was made with a ratio of 5% and 10% of reinforcement in comparison with polymeric matrix mass. Composites were thermally, mechanically and microscopically characterized. The addition of fiber in the polymer increased the mechanical strength of the composite. The fiber surface treatment with distilled water removed the amorphous material present in the fibers, improving significantly thermal stability and increasing crystallinity of the celullose. The addition of 5% fiber in mass to the polymer increased significantly the tensile strength and elasticity modulus for the composite. With 10% of fiber addiction there were also an improvement when compared with pure HDPE, but when compared with 5% composite the mechanical properties are slightly lower. In order to maintain the competitiveness the companies seek for cost reduction and resource optimization. A product or service price is calculated considering direct and indirect costs involved in its fabrication, which means that if an intern indirect process is optimized, the final price of the product is also reduced and becomes more interesting to the final costumer. Considering this reasoning, the companies must evaluate each of their processes and optimize them. It is common to outsource intern products manufacturing as a cost reduction strategy, nevertheless when there are already resources and capability to produce the own goods, it becomes necessary to evaluate the economic gain that each strategy - make or buy - generates. This paper aims to evaluate the necessary support to take a decision regarding making or buying in a production cell of hoses based in the value of economic cost, system cost and decision process

Coumarin is a natural active compound that can be found in many plants. The coumarins have many properties such as bronchodilator, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticoagulant, antibiotics, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial and antiviral, thus, they are widely used in medical applications. More recently the coumarin derivatives have attracted the interest of many research groups in the field of new materials, for example the possibility of their use as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) and lasers. The MCRs are defined as a process in which three or more reactants are combined in the same reaction pot, resulting in products with good structural complexity a single step, in addition to economy of atoms and selectivity and is a very important feature in modern synthetic methodology. In this work we investigated the use of niobium pentachloride as catalyst of the multicomponent reactions between phenolic derivatives, various aromatic aldehydes and β-diester derivatives in the synthesis of 4-aryl-3,4-dihydrocoumarin derivatives. The reactions were carried out at room temperature, under inert atmosphere (N2), using dichloromethane anhydrous (CH2 Cl2) as solvent, with a reaction time of most 120 hours. The products were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel and submitted to spectrometric and spectroscopic analysis. The results show that NbCl5 is an excellent agent for promoting the synthesis of 4-aryl-3,4-dihydrocoumarin derivatives through multicomponent reactions, obtaining yields varying from 45 to 95%

The process of product development (PPD) is a strategic factor in which companies seek to identify consumer needs. The relationship of the practices adopted, tools, techniques, among others, can determinate the maturity level of the company in this process. The purpose of this paper is to understand and diagnose the level of maturity of the PDP in footwear segment industry. For the case study, a company inserted into one of the largest poles of women’s footwear in Brazil, located in Jaú, São Paulo State, was researched. The diagnosis is based on the maturity levels of the unified model, reference in the process of product development, proposed by Rozenfeld et al. (2006). The application of the model assisted to diagnose the current maturity level of the company in this process, providing useful information to achieve higher levels of maturity in the PDP.

This work had the purpose to study the physiological effects of pyraclostrobin, boscalid, plant growth regulators and plant extract on the accumulation of carbohydrates during the development of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.), hybrid Giuliana, in protected environment conditions. The treatments were: T1- control; T2- pyraclostrobin 0.2 g L-1; T3- boscalid 0.075 g L-1, T4- pyraclostrobin 0.2 g L-1 + boscalid 0.075 g L-1, T5- IBA + GA(3) + kinetin 375 mg L-1, T6- GA(4+7) + benzylaminopurine 100 mg L-1 and T7- plant extract 100 mg L-1. The carbohydrate accumulation curve was accomplished with 5 samples, at 20-day intervals between evaluations, the 1st evaluation being carried out at 30 days after transplantation, on the day of the first treatment application. At each sampling the plants were separated in stem, leaves and fruits, of which the contents of total soluble sugars, reducing sugars and saccharose were evaluated. The effects of the treatments on chlorophyll content and gas exchanges were also evaluated. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 4 repetitions and 6 destructive evaluations during the development, with 1 plant per experimental unit for each sampling. The pyraclostrobin and boscalid applied in isolation and/or combined favor the increase of carbohydrates in leaves, stems and fruits of tomato hybrid Giuliana.

In 2001, it was estimated that pesticide used worldwide exceeded 2.27 billion kilograms, over 35%, of which, were herbicides. Brazil is considered one of the leaders in the production of sugarcane and mainly ethanol as fuel. The monoculture of sugarcane requires the usage of a range of pesticides, among these, the herbicides diuron and tebuthiuron. The degradation products most studied (DCA and DCPU) are diuron's, especially for toxicological characteristics of this herbicide that is identified as carcinogen and suspected to be endocrine disruptor in mammals. After optimization of the chromatographic separation using HPLC-UV, the analytical curve was constructed in solvent and subsequently in the matrix (surface water). The extraction method contains the usage of SPE (solid phase extraction) (Strata-X, 200 mg/6 mL), applicating 1L of sample and elution with 5 mL of acetonitrile / methanol (50:50, v/v). Analysis by HPLC/UV was performed in gradient mode, acetonitrile/water (70/30-74/26 by 1 min, 74/26 - 78/22 till 3.2 min, returning to initial conditions and remaining this way until 10 min), 018 column (Phenomenex, 4.6 mm diameter, 250 mm long and 5pm particle size) and detection at 254 nm. Tests F and t were performed to verify the presence of the matrix effect. There was matrix effect to all analytes, ranging from -33% (DCA) and 38% (tebuthiuron). Thereby the method was optimized and validated for analysis of diuron, tebuthiuron, and DCPU DCA in surface water using HPLC/UV. The data obtained show that in order to assure the analytical reliability desired the use of the analytical curves in the matrix for the quantification of these analytes in water is required.
