Archaeospicularia, new radiolarian order; a new step for the classification of the Lower Paleozoic Radiolaria.

A new radiolarian order - Archaeospicularia - is proposed for some Lower Paleozoic radiolarians previously considered to belong to Spumellaria and to Collodaria. It is characterized by a globular shell made of several spicules which can be free, interlocked, or fused to formed a latticed wall. The present paper gives the definition of this order and proposes a first classification. It is supposed that the Archaeospicularia represents the oldest radiolarian group and that in the Lower Paleozoic it gave rise to the orders Entactinaria, Albaillellaria, and probably Spumellaria by the reduction of the number of initial spicules. The origin of this order and its relationships with other groups of organisms with siliceous skeletons are also briefly discussed. Efficiency-based evaluation of aligners for industrial applications

This paper presents a novel efficiencybased evaluation of sentence and word aligners. This assessment is critical in order to make a reliable use in industrial scenarios. The evaluation shows that the resourcesrequired by aligners differ rather broadly. Subsequently, we establish limitation mechanisms on a set of aligners deployed as web services. These results, paired with the quality expected from the aligners, allow providers to choose the most appropriate aligner according to the task at hand.

The impact of labour market status on second and higher-order births. A comparative study of Denmark, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom

This paper investigates the effects of women‘s labour force participation on fertility, as well as the effects of the combined labour force participation of both members of a couple. It specifically focuses on such dimensions as unemployment, earnings, temporary contracts and part-time jobs, and it shows that their effects differ in accordance with national institutions and labour market regulations. Event-history methods and a longitudinal sample of the European Community Household Panel are used in the analyses, concerning the years 1993-2000. The results show that labour market insecurity of one or both members of a couple has a particularly strong impact in reducing birth rates in the Southern European countries studied. The more conventional model of men’s employment combined with housewifery has a positive impact on second or higher order births in United Kingdom, Spain and Italy, while in Denmark the effect is the opposite. These differences are consistent with different national models of combining parental responsibilities and participation by gender across the life course.

Profile order and time-dependent artifacts in contrast-enhanced coronary MR angiography at 3T: origin and prevention.

To enhance the clinical value of coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), high-relaxivity contrast agents have recently been used at 3T. Here we examine a uniform bilateral shadowing artifact observed along the coronary arteries in MRA images collected using such a contrast agent. Simulations were performed to characterize this artifact, including its origin, to determine how best to mitigate this effect, and to optimize a data acquisition/injection scheme. An intraluminal contrast agent concentration model was used to simulate various acquisition strategies with two profile orders for a slow-infusion of a high-relaxivity contrast agent. Filtering effects from temporally variable weighting in k-space are prominent when a centric, radial (CR) profile order is applied during contrast infusion, resulting in decreased signal enhancement and underestimation of vessel width, while both pre- and postinfusion steady-state acquisitions result in overestimation of the vessel width. Acquisition during the brief postinfusion steady-state produces the greatest signal enhancement and minimizes k-space filtering artifacts.

This thesis contains two parts: documentary Refugee Child (Evakkolapsi) and written thesis. The written thesis screens how pre-productional decisions made by producer and director can influence the content of the documentary. The documentary film is first approached from the historical and theoretical point of view. The documentary Refugee Child is evaluated, especially from the producers point of view. The effect of the productional decisions to the content in the Refugee Child are evaluated. The word documentary film has multiple different meanings and it is beeing used in various contexts. There is numerous opinions about what is the difference between a documentary film and a television documentary. The people in the audiovisual field and the channel networks seem to use the word documentary about very different kinds of films. In order to understand the difficulty of this definition the history of the documentary film and the devicion of Bill Nichols' six modes is shortly viewed. Focusing on the pre-production of documentary is rewarding. There is various altering factors in the production of the documentary. The producer and director should be prepared both technically and substancially.

Late migration of percutaneous bio-absorbable devices--a word of caution.

BACKGROUND: Closures of atrial septal defects or a patent foramen ovale (PFO) are increasingly performed percutaneously. The experience of late migration of a new bio-absorbable device is presented here, followed by conceptual discussion. METHODS: Six months post PFO closure with a BioSTAR® device a patient presented with chest pain. Echocardiography showed a hyperechogenic structure perforating the aortic wall. RESULTS: Surgical exploration showed a perforation of the ascending aorta by one metallic, non absorbable arm. This is the second case of late (>6 months) dislocation of the residual framework of the occluder. CONCLUSIONS: The overall incidence of perforation of cardiac structures due to secondary dislocation is low. However this complication exists and should kept in mind in symptomatic patients with new onset of chest pain, after percutaneous procedures. The concept of biodegradation, with residual, non absorbable metal braiding, should be reviewed, analyzing in particular long term results and incidence of secondary dislocation.

Directs the Department of Human Services to comply with all directives from the federal government arising from Hurricane Katrina insofar as those directives concern public welfare programs administered by DHS, declares that any evacuee shall be deemed a resident of the State of Iowa for purposes of obtaining eligibility for the food stamp, family investment and Medicaid programs, and DHS should process applications in an expedited and flexible manner.
