Constrained fuzzy power flow models with correlation between nodal injections

This paper extends the symmetric/constrained fuzzy powerflow models by including the potential correlations between nodal injections. Therefore, the extension of the model allows the specification of fuzzy generation and load values and of potential correlations between nodal injections. The enhanced version of the symmetric/constrained fuzzy powerflow model is applied to the 30-bus IEEE test system. The results prove the importance of the inclusion of data correlations in the analysis of transmission system adequacy.

Genus i ensemble : En intervjustudie om lärares syn på genusuppdraget och dess innebörd för ensembleämnet

Syftet med undersökningen är att med avseende på skolans genusuppdrag studera musiklärares förhållningsätt i ensembleundervisning på gymnasieskolan. För att uppnå detta har kvalitativa, semistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med lärare i gymnasiekursen ensemble, följt av diskursanalys på transkriberingar av dessa intervjuer. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna är genusteorier och diskursteorier. I resultatet framkommer lärarnas syn på genusbegreppet och genusuppdraget. Bland de genusdiskurser som presenteras finns synen på genus som rutin, som sidoeffekt på annat arbete och som medvetenhet. Gällande elevsyn visar sig diskurser om eleven som platstagare, som normbrytare och vikten av att eleven känner sig som en synbar individ. Slutledningarna, liksom diskussionskapitlet, rör sig kring genusarbetets framgångar, vilka faktorer som kan ha orsakat dessa, och hur arbetet förändrats på skolorna utifrån dessa framgångar. Genomgående har ett individfokus framkommit, där eleverna inte ses som en grupp, utan som enskilda individer, vilka alla måste mötas personligt.

Topological insulating phases from two-dimensional nodal loop semimetals

Starting from a minimal model for a two-dimensional nodal loop semimetal, we study the effect of chiral mass gap terms. The resulting Dirac loop anomalous Hall insulator’s Chern number is the phase-winding number of the mass gap terms on the loop.We provide simple lattice models, analyze the topological phases, and generalize a previous index characterizing topological transitions. The responses of the Dirac loop anomalous Hall and quantum spin Hall insulators to a magnetic field’s vector potential are also studied both in weak- and strong-field regimes, as well as the edge states in a ribbon geometry.

The Hitchin map for one-nodal base curves of compact type

Studying moduli spaces of semistable Higgs bundles (E, \phi) of rank n on a smooth curve C, a key role is played by the spectral curve X (Hitchin), because an important result by Beauville-Narasimhan-Ramanan allows us to study isomorphism classes of such Higgs bundles in terms of isomorphism classes of rank-1 torsion-free sheaves on X. This way, the generic fibre of the Hitchin map, which associates to any semistable Higgs bundle the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial of \phi, is isomorphic to the Jacobian of X. Focusing on rank-2 Higgs data, this construction was extended by Barik to the case in which the curve C is reducible, one-nodal, having two smooth components. Such curve is called of compact type because its Picard group is compact. In this work, we describe and clarify the main points of the construction by Barik and we give examples, especially concerning generic fibres of the Hitchin map. Referring to Hausel-Pauly, we consider the case of SL(2,C)-Higgs bundles on a smooth base curve, which are such that the generic fibre of the Hitchin map is a subvariety of the Jacobian of X, the Prym variety. We recall the description of special loci, called endoscopic loci, such that the associated Prym variety is not connected. Then, letting G be an affine reductive group having underlying Lie algebra so(4,C), we consider G-Higgs bundles on a smooth base curve. Starting from the construction by Bradlow-Schaposnik, we discuss the associated endoscopic loci. By adapting these studies to a one-nodal base curve of compact type, we describe the fibre of the SL(2,C)-Hitchin map and of the G-Hitchin map, together with endoscopic loci. In the Appendix, we give an interpretation of generic spectral curves in terms of families of double covers.

Lo studio del fenomeno dei Grands Ensembles nella metropoli di Parigi ci ha portati alla conoscenza di una realtà sociale, politica, geografica e architettonica così complessa e dalle tante sfaccettature. La storia che noi abbiamo studiato e con la quale ci siamo interfacciati, toccando e vivendo la periferia con mano, si legge chiaramente tutt’oggi. A partire dal boulevard Périphérique, grande infrastruttura ad anello che segna una distanza fisica e psicologica tra Parigi e la sua Banlieue. Nel corso degli anni, il sistema Monocentrico di Parigi ha portato al celebre lavoro del Grand Paris, proposta visionaria che cerca di recuperare la periferia per renderla protagonista di un modello policentrico.In questo contesto la nostra area di progetto, vicina fisicamente a Parigi ma incastrata in un sistema di enclave che segna la vera distanza, quella psicologica, dal centro, pone un problema che riapre le mille questioni che abbiamo cercato di analizzare. La demolizione di più di 200 alloggi sociali, per motivi legati al disagio sociale, alla delinquenza e alla perifericità più intrinseca dei grands ensambles, è alla radice dei nostri ragionamenti e della nostra proposta. Sensitivity and specificity of machine learning classifiers for glaucoma diagnosis using Spectral Domain OCT and standard automated perimetry

PURPOSE: To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of machine learning classifiers (MLCs) for glaucoma diagnosis using Spectral Domain OCT (SD-OCT) and standard automated perimetry (SAP). METHODS: Observational cross-sectional study. Sixty two glaucoma patients and 48 healthy individuals were included. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmologic examination, achromatic standard automated perimetry (SAP) and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) imaging with SD-OCT (Cirrus HD-OCT; Carl Zeiss Meditec Inc., Dublin, California). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were obtained for all SD-OCT parameters and global indices of SAP. Subsequently, the following MLCs were tested using parameters from the SD-OCT and SAP: Bagging (BAG), Naive-Bayes (NB), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Radial Basis Function (RBF), Random Forest (RAN), Ensemble Selection (ENS), Classification Tree (CTREE), Ada Boost M1(ADA),Support Vector Machine Linear (SVML) and Support Vector Machine Gaussian (SVMG). Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (aROC) obtained for isolated SAP and OCT parameters were compared with MLCs using OCT+SAP data. RESULTS: Combining OCT and SAP data, MLCs' aROCs varied from 0.777(CTREE) to 0.946 (RAN).The best OCT+SAP aROC obtained with RAN (0.946) was significantly larger the best single OCT parameter (p<0.05), but was not significantly different from the aROC obtained with the best single SAP parameter (p=0.19). CONCLUSION: Machine learning classifiers trained on OCT and SAP data can successfully discriminate between healthy and glaucomatous eyes. The combination of OCT and SAP measurements improved the diagnostic accuracy compared with OCT data alone.
