A highly uniform multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser with an intracavity sine phase modulator is demonstrated. The flat output spectrum is achieved by optimizing the cavity structure, modulation amplitude, and frequency of the sine phase modulator. Fifteen lasing lines with wavelength spacing of 0.9 nm appear simultaneously and stably with power differences less than 2 dB and side-mode suppression ratio higher than 32 dB. In addition, the proposed cavity can support unidirectional operation without optical isolators. An output power difference of about 20 dB is realized between the counterclockwise and clockwise directions, which is almost independent of the pump power and lasing wavelengths. Repetition rate fluctuation is one of the main drawbacks of the low-threshold stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) Q-switched fiber laser. A method to stabilize the repetition rate is proposed in this paper by injecting a square-wave modulated light. It is measured experimentally that variance of the repetition rate can be improved from similar to 20% to similar to 1% of the period. It is also found that effectiveness of the method depends on modulation frequency and duty cycle of the injection. Its working mechanism is analyzed qualitatively. 综述了双包层光纤激光器端面、侧面和集中抽运耦合技术,分析表明侧面抽运耦合技术比端面抽运耦合技术更有利于获得高功率输出,其中分布包层抽运耦合技术是很理想的一种侧面抽运耦合方式。阐述了高功率光纤激光器的特点并介绍了光子晶体光纤和螺旋芯光纤的抽运耦合方式。

从掺镱(Yb)光纤放大器的功率传输方程出发,利用有限差分法对小模场面积(SMA)和大模场面积(LMA)掺镱双包层光纤放大器的放大特性进行了分析比较。采用模场直径(MFD)6.5 μm和20 μm的双包层掺镱光纤作为放大器增益介质进行窄线宽连续信号的放大,在915 nm激光抽运下模拟计算了大、小模场面积输出功率随输入信号功率、抽运光功率和光纤长度的变化特性,特别是对于大模场面积光纤放大器,最优光纤长度的选择至关重要;讨论了模场直径不同时的最优抽运功率和光纤长度的选择,得出4 m光纤放大时的临界抽运功率为4

采用两个中心波长约976nm准直输出的高功率半导体激光模块为抽运源,通过空间滤波和非球面透镜耦合技术,双端抽运长度为21m的大模场面积国产掺镱双包层光纤,获得了714.5W的高功率连续激光输出。采用反向抽运,当人纤抽运功率为760W时,激光输出功率达到501W;采用双端抽运,当人纤抽运功率为1137W时,获得了714.5W的高功率连续输出,光光转换效率为62.8%,斜率效率为67%。

采用MCVD方法研发了掺镱双包层光纤,并对其结构特性、荧光特性和激光特性进行了测试和研究。其D形内包层尺寸为400/450μm,数值孔径为0.36,纤芯直径约为16μm,数值孔径约为0.18。荧光谱线的范围为1000-1140nm,1030nm处的峰宽大于50nm。采用大功率激光二极管单端泵浦6m长的双包层光纤,在泵浦人纤功率为61W时,获得了32W的激光输出,斜率效率为64%。该光纤在高功率处未发现饱和现象,通过优化光纤参数与泵浦方式还可以提高转化效率和输出功率。实验表明该光纤可以取代进口光纤用作高功率

报道了一种MOPA式国产单频光纤放大器。该放大器采用连续波单频激光器作为主振荡器,采用我国自行设计和制造的大模场面积掺Yb双包层光纤作为功率放大器,在波长1064 nm处实现了最高7.3 W的连续激光输出,斜率效率为39%,光-光转换效率为26%。此外,对光谱特性及放大的自发发射的抑制也进行了探讨。

A master-oscillator fiber power amplifier (MOPA) system with a 4-m-long Yb3+-doped homemade large mode area (LMA) double-clad fiber is reported. The system emits up to 133.8 W of amplified radiation at a wavelength of 1064 nm and a repetition rate of 100 kHz, limited only by the available pump power. 采用大功率半导体激光器抽运25m掺Yb双包层光纤,在单程装置中,前向(SPF)和后向(SPB)分别获得了1.46w和1.82w最大超荧光功率,斜度效率分别为23.4%0和29.2%,3dB带宽最大为11nm。采用特定范围波长双色镜作为前腔镜,形成双程前向(DPF)装置,获得最大超荧光输出功率2.12W,此时斜度效率为43.2%,中心波长在1070nm,输出光谱平坦性较好,3dB带宽从单程的11nm提高到42nm。

Phase locking of a two-dimensional fiber laser array is experimentally demonstrated by using a self-imaging resonator and a spatial filter. The stable beam profiles of in-phase mode and out-of-phase mode are observed by controlling the position of spatial filter. The phase locking fiber array with in-phase mode has produced 26 W coherent output. An antisymmetric eigenmode is also observed in our experiments. The phase locking is not sensitive to power variations among the pump beams and the configuration has the ability to repair a missing element. (C) 2008 American Institute of Physics.

To get high output power with good beam quality, a tapered section is introduced to large-mode-area (LMA) Yb-doped fiber laser. Output characteristics of the fiber laser without tapered section and with tapered section are compared experimentally. When the launched pump power is 119.1 W, 77.9 W with M-2 3.08 and 56.4 W with M-2 1.14 can be obtained, respectively. The corresponding slope efficiencies are 71.8% and 54.1%, respectively. Although output power of the tapered fiber laser has 30.6% penalty, brightness of it is as much as 5.28 times of the fiber laser without tapered section. Moreover, spectra of them are measured. It is found that tapered section makes lasing wavelength of the fiber laser shorter. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Demonstrations of cw lasing in Cr2+:ZnSe poly-crystal are reported. The laser consists of a 1.7-mm-thick Cr2+:ZnSe poly-crystal disc pumped by a Tm-silica double-clad fibre laser at 2050nm. Using a concave high-reflection mirror with a radius of curvature of 500mm as the rear mirror, the laser delivers up to 1030mW of radiation around 2.367 mu m.
