Nanotechnology, the science of minuscule, has developed products which are able t o manipulate atoms and molecules that could be applied in the sterilization process of dental instruments. Objetives: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the self-cleaning action of TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles coating on dental instruments by the photocataliys process under UV and visible light irradiation. Material and method: Microbiologic tests were done using dental cement spatulas coated with TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles (one or three layers), and contaminated with 10 mcrl of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis, respectively. After contamination, they were exposed to ultraviolet light and visible light for 120 minutes. Next, they were transferred to and stored in test tubes with BHI (Brain Heart Infusion) and incubated in 35 to 37 °C. Checking times for bacterial growth and for control and retrieval tests were done at: 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Result: The Pseudomonas aeruginosa was inactive after 120 minutes of ultraviolet light irradiation, thus confirming the heterogeneous photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and Ag. The Pseudomonas aeruginosa was not inactivated under visible light irradiation and the Enterococcus faecalis was not inactivated under UV and visible light irradiation of the dental cement spatulas coated with TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles in the readings to 96 hours, showing bacterial growth. Conclusion: There were no influence of one or three layers of TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles coating of the spatulas in the results. The heterogeneous photocatalysis activity of TiO2 and Ag under UV light irradiation was confirmed for Pseudomonas aeruginosa but not under visible light. Enterococcus faecalis did not confirmed the photocatalytics activity of TiO2 and Ag under UV light irradiation and visible lights irradiation.

Objetives: The aim of this study was to verify the anticariogenic effect of acidulate solutions with low NaF concentration, using pH-cycling model and bovine enamel. Material and Methods: Enamel blocks were submitted to the surface microhardness (SMH) test and randomly divided in 12 experimental and one placebo groups. The blocks were submitted to pH cycling for 7 days, with daily applications once/day of 0.05% NaF and 0.1% NaF and twice/day of 0.02% NaF solutions. Four different pH: 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 were used. Next, SMH test was again used to determine the surface microhardness percentage change (%SMH). Data obtained for %SMH were homogeneous and passed through variance analyses and Tukey's test (5%) as far as fluoride concentrations and pH. Results: The results showed that pH influenced %SMH in 0.02% NaF and 0.05% NaF solutions with pH 4.0, which had less mineral loss compared to pH 7.0 (p<0.05). The 0.02% NaF - pH 4.0, and 0.05% NaF – pH 7.0 groups showed similar results (p>0.05). A dose-response relationship was observed among the tested solutions, with better anticariogenic effect for the 0.1% NaF solution. Conclusion: The results suggest that the addition of citric acid to acidulate mouth rinses reduce mineral loss.

The ideal of Waldorf Education, since the opening of the first school in 1919, was based on innovative principles for a humanized society. Among those principles, there was the attendance of all children without distinction, which is exactly the main idea of the inclusive school. Waldorf pedagogy defends that under the right pedagogical action and care with the individual development, anyone can develop, regardless of their disability. This statem ent highlights the main objective of this methodology, that is the human development, aligned to another fundamental guideline of inclusive education. Accordingly, the hypothesis of this work is that Waldorf education promotes inclusive schooling contexts, attending diversity and valuing differences. The general objective of this study is: analyze Waldorf Education to verify if it promotes inclusive contexts. And the specific objetives were: identify elements in this practice that favors diversity attend; analyze the practice of a Waldorf school, considering documentation, structure, and conception of managers, teachers and parents. The study was based on quantitative and qualitative research approach, and the data was collected trough observation of teaching practices in a classroom where a disabled student was present, as well as through documentation and observation of the school environment. Furthermore, in order to verify the understanding of parents (71 individuals) and teachers (18 individuals) on inclusion, a specific questionnaire was developed for each of these two groups. For the records, a diary and an observation script were used. It was concluded that Waldorf methodology provides all the necessary conditions to inclusion, mainly due to it's enhancement of individuality, didactic organization and it's roots in social relations

Objetives: Determine the stability of tibial and femoral components of 20 cementless knee arthroplasties with rotating platform. Methods: The 20 patients (20 knees) underwent an analysis of dynamic radiographs with an image amplifier and maneuvers of varus and valgus which were compared to static frontal and lateral radiographs of the knees and analyzed by two experienced surgeons in a double-blind way. Results: We could observe in this study that both methods showed very similar results for the stability of the tibial and femoral components (p<0.001) using the Kappa method for comparison. Conclusion: The tibial component was more unstable in relation to the femoral component in both static and dynamic studies. Level of Evidence IV, Case Series.

Introdução: Trombose Venosa Profunda (TVP) é o resultado de inúmeros fatores, incluindo estase venosa, injuria endotelial e hipercoagulação do sangue. O embolismo pulmonar é a maior complicação da TVP e ocorre quando um trombo ou um coágulo sangüíneo desloca-se em direção aos pulmões. O tromboembolismo é um sério problema de saúde e é responsável por um considerável número de mortes súbitas e por significantes custos de hospitalizações em todo o mundo. Entre os métodos profiláticos usados na prevenção da TVP, há os classificados como mecânicos e os farmacológicos. Ambos são efetivos e podem ser usados sempre que necessário, tendo sido recomendados por consenso internacional. Objetivos: Avaliar a incidência da TVP em pacientes cirúrgicos através da Compressão pneumática Intermitente CPI (coxa/perna ou perna/pé) contra nenhuma forma de profilaxia ou contra fármacos. Métodos: Revisão sistemática de ensaios clínicos randomizados, utilizando a metodologia Cochrane, através de buscas eletrônica e manual. Foram incluídos pacientes cirúrgicos, de ambos os sexos, cuja intervenção foi o uso de aparelhos de compressão pneumática intermitente. Resultados: 4269 pacientes cirúrgicos investigados por 31 ensaios submetidos a um número de intervenções cirúrgicas, incluindo cirurgia ortopédica (joelho e quadris), geral, ginecológica, urológica e neurológica. Dados combinados demonstraram efeitos de tratamento virtualmente iguais entre CPI e abordagens farmacológicas [0.95 (95%CI 0.82, 1.10)], em relação à incidência de TVP. Entretanto, o risco de hemorragia foi maior e estatisticamente significante em pacientes tratados com intervenções farmacológicas [0.37(95%CI 0.20, 0.69)]. Conclusão: Comparações entre as estratégias farmacológicas e mecânicas indicam que ambas são similares na prevenção de trombose venosa profunda. Entretantio, a evidência atual suportaria a escolha das abordagens mecâncias, uma vez que o risco de eventos hemorrágicos favorece os métodos mecânicos.

OBJETIVES The main objective of the present randomized pilot study was to explore the effects of upstream prasugrel or ticagrelor or clopidogrel for patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). BACKGROUND Administration of clopidogrel "as soon as possible" has been advocated for STEMI. Pretreatment with prasugrel and ticagrelor may improve reperfusion. Currently, the angiographic effects of upstream administration of these agents are poorly understood. METHODS A total of 132 patients with STEMI within the first 12 hr of chest pain referred to primary angioplasty were randomized to upstream clopidogrel (600 mg), prasugrel (60 mg), or ticagrelor (180 mg) while still in the emergency room. All patients underwent protocol-mandated thrombus aspiration. RESULTS Macroscopic thrombus material was retrieved in 79.5% of the clopidogrel group, 65.9% of the prasugrel group, and 54.3% of the ticagrelor group (P = 0.041). At baseline angiography, large thrombus burden was 97.7% vs. 87.8% vs. 80.4% in the clopidogrel, prasugrel, and ticagrelor groups, respectively (P = 0.036). Also, at baseline, 97.7% presented with an occluded target vessel in the clopidogrel group, 87.8% in the prasugrel group and 78.3% in the ticagrelor group (P = 0.019). At the end of the procedure, the percentages of patients with combined TIMI grade III flow and myocardial blush grade III were 52.3% for clopidogrel, 80.5% for prasugrel, and 67.4% for ticagrelor (P = 0.022). CONCLUSIONS In patients with STEMI undergoing primary PCI within 12 hr, upstream clopidogrel, prasugrel or ticagrelor have varying angiographic findings, with a trend toward better results for the latter two agents. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera- Gelechiidae) es una plaga del tomate cultivado en Mendoza (Argentina) que afecta la calidad y la conservación de su producto. Su cría artificial permite conocer su bioetología para aplicarla a su control. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron: • Adaptar la especie a la reproducción en condiciones artificiales. • Evaluar dietas para la cría de las larvas. La fundación de la cría partió de larvas salvajes extraídas de hojas y frutos dañados de un cultivo bajo cubierta, ubicado en Guaymallén (Mendoza). La cría desarrolló dentro de cámaras con condiciones controladas de temperatura, humedad y fotoperíodo. Para el apareamiento y oviposición de los adultos se diseñaron tres tipos de jaulas. Como sustratos de oviposición se utilizó papel apergaminado, entretela y algodón. Sobre papel no se obtuvieron posturas. La mayor cantidad de huevos se registró sobre algodón. Los huevos obtenidos se sembraron en dieta artificial y natural. Las larvas se lograron alimentar con dieta artificial pero los adultos -obtenidos con alto rendimiento: 67,58 % huevo a adulto- no dieron suficiente descendencia para mantener la cría.

El concepto “desarrollo sustentable" se ha consolidado en la academia, organismos internacionales e instituciones públicas que tienen como una preocupación central el bienestar colectivo o la calidad de vida de la población. También está presente en el discurso de partidos políticos, organizaciones no gubernamentales, movimientos sociales y otros actores de la sociedad civil, que buscan nuevas respuestas a distintos problemas que aquejan a la sociedad y que dicen relación con su estrategia de desarrollo. De esta forma, se trata de un concepto universalmente aceptado y legitimado, aunque su significado no siempre sea unívoco y no conlleve en todos los casos al mismo tipo de acciones. Su fortaleza, sin embargo, radica en su concepción ampliamente compartida como uno de los meta - objetivos de la sociedad. No obstante, tal vez una de las mayores debilidades del concepto sea su (todavía) baja aplicabilidad a la realidad. Como dice Reboratti (2000:202), “desarrollo sostenible es...una meta a alcanzar, una posibilidad que aparece en el futuro y que tal vez nunca alcanzaremos...", pero según reconoce el mismo autor, requiere de al menos un esfuerzo de planificación, que –según entendemos nosotros- ha de contar con herramientas específicas, que permitan encauzar en forma efectiva el desarrollo de un territorio hacia su sustentabilidad. En este contexto, resulta fundamental desarrollar una metodología de ordenamiento territorial que pueda conducir efectivamente a un desarrollo sustentable. Por cierto, es necesario que dicha metodología sea de fácil aplicación, de manera que se constituya en un apoyo eficiente y eficaz para las instituciones responsables de la planificación y administración del territorio. En virtud de lo anterior, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo general exponer una metodología para la elaboración de un Plan de Ordenamiento Territorial, basada en el concepto de “sustentabilidad", que sea efectiva y simple en su aplicación. Los componentes centrales de esta propuesta metodológica son: (a) la integración de distintas herramientas de análisis para el diagnóstico evaluativo de un territorio, (b) la ponderación de todas las dimensiones de la sustentabilidad, (c) la proposición de instrumentos para el diseño de modelos espaciales que permitan encauzar el desarrollo de un territorio hacia su sustentabilidad, considerando el uso racional de los recursos naturales, la reducción de los riesgos de desastres y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las generaciones presentes y futuras. La metodología propuesta ha sido aplicada a un caso de estudio de escala local, la comuna de San José de Maipo en Santiago de Chile, a través de un ejercicio docente desarrollado por los alumnos de la promoción 2007 en el Taller de Gestión Ambiental, del Magíster en Asentamientos Humanos y Medio Ambiente de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. El proceso metodológico propuesto considera básicamente dos subprocesos: el diagnóstico evaluativo del sistema territorial y el diseño de un modelo territorial, cuyo resultado es la elaboración de un Plan de Ordenamiento Territorial Sustentable para la comuna de San José de Maipo.

Objetives : To analyze and reflect upon the collected data, adolescents' representations about the work field and their projects for future work. To conceptualize about the crises of social significances which produce and order sense and, therefore, organize our perceptions of work through social discourses and practices which have an impact on the subjectivity of adolescents and young adults. Methodology: Brief presentation of the concepts which frame the qualitative research in this area. Reading and analysis of fragments from adolescents' accounts, obtained in focal groups at different state secondary schools. Conclusions: The adolescents researched portray a self-image full of uncertainty and skepticism as regards their future possibilities. The impact produced by the fall of work as an ideal of doing and being is made evident in their accounts. Only some of them link their future project with an invested and valuable activity, even if this is not associated with economic safety and wellbeing. Others present themselves as incapable to modify the state of things, which offers a field connected with consumerist values and with the idea that "you are worth what you have (in material things)".

Este trabajo tiene por objetivo el estudio de ahorro energético en una explotación ganadera. Para ello, se contempla la posibilidad de sustituir los sistemas actuales por otros alimentados de energía solar, geotérmica o eólica. La energía obtenida a partir de la producción de metano a través de la utilización de los purines no se contempla, debido a que son utilizados como abono en las parcelas colindantes. PUNTOS TRATADOS Se parte de que, en la explotación, la calefacción es de gas natural y la electricidad es generada por un grupo electrógeno. Estudio de la irradiancia de la zona y de la cantidad de paneles solares y baterías necesarios para hacer la explotación ganadera autosuficiente. Estudio del potencial eólico de la zona y de la cantidad de aerogeneradores y baterías necesarios para hacer la explotación ganadera autosuficiente. Estudio del potencial calorífico de la zona y de la cantidad de tubos, bombas de calor y baterías necesarios para hacer la explotación ganadera autosuficiente. Cálculo de los costes de la instalación solar, eólica y geotérmica. Comparación de los resultados obtenidos anteriormente y breve discusión sobre el sistema elegido. ABSTRACT OBJETIVES This job has got like objective the energetic saving study in a cattle exploitation. For it, it is contemplated the possibility of replacing the current systems with others fed on solar, wind and geothermal power. Energy obtained across production of methane across animal organic wastes it is not contemplated, because they are used as fertilizer on adjacent smallholdings. TREATED POINTS It is parted of that, in the exploitation, heating is propane and electricity is generated by an electrical generator. Study about irradiance on the place and quantity of solar panels and batteries to doing self-sufficient the cattle exploitation. Study about wind potential on the place and quantity of wind generators and batteries to doing self-sufficient the cattle exploitation. In order to establish rational nitrogen (N) application and reduce groundwater contamination, a clearer understanding of the N distribution through the growing season and its balance is crucial. Excessive doses of N and/or water applied to fertigated crops involve a substantial risk of aquifer contamination by nitrate; but knowledge of N cycling and availability within the soil could assist in avoiding this excess. In central Spain, the main horticultural fertigated crop is the melon type ?piel de sapo¿ and it is cultivated in vulnerable zones to nitrate pollution (Directive 91/676/CEE). However, until few years ago there were not antecedents related to the optimization of nitrogen fertilization together with irrigation. Water and N footprint are indicators that allow assessing the impact generated by different agricultural practices, so they can be used to improve the management strategies in fertigated crop systems. The water footprint distinguishes between blue water (sources of water applied to the crop, like irrigation and precipitation), green water (water used by the crop and stored in the soil), and it is furthermore possible to quantify the impact of pollution by calculating the grey water, which is defined as the volume of polluted water created from the growing and production of crops. On the other hand, the N footprint considers green N (nitrogen consumed by the crops and stored in the soil), blue N (N available for crop, like N applied with mineral and/or organic fertilizers, N applied with irrigation water and N mineralized during the crop period), whereas grey N is the amount of N-NO3- washed from the soil to the aquifer. All these components are expressed as the ratio between the components of water or N footprint and the yield (m3 t-1 or kg N t-1 respectively). The objetives of this work were to evaluate the impact derivated from the use of different fertilizer practices in a melon crop using water and N footprint.
