Structure of (6S,13bR)-1,2,3,5,6,13b-hexahydro-6-isopropyl-8H-pyrrolo[1',2':1,2]pyrazino[3,4,-b]quinazoline-5,8-dione

C17H19N302, monoclinic, P21, a = 5.382 (1), b = 17.534(4), c = 8.198(1)/L ,8 = 100.46(1) °, Z= 2, d,, = 1.323, dc= 1.299 Mg m-3, F(000) = 316, /~(Cu .Ka) = 0.618 mm -1. R = 0.052 for 1284 significant reflections. The proline-containing cispeptide unit which forms part of a six-membered ring deviates from perfect planarity. The torsion angle about the peptide bond is 3.0 (5) ° and the peptide bond length is 1.313 (5)A. The conformation of the proline ring is Cs-Cf~-endo. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H... O interactions.

In-plane normal vibrations of 1,2,5-oxa-, thia- and selena-diazoles, 1,3,4-oxa- and thia-diazoles and 1,2,3,4-thiatriazoles

In-plane vibration modes of 1,2,5- and 1,3,4-oxa- and thia-diazoles, and 1,2,5-selenadiazole have been assigned on the basis of detailed normal coordinate analysis employing data on several deuterated species. In-plane vibration frequencies of two 1,2,3,4-thiatriazole derivatives have been calculated and compared with observed values.

Synthesis of the lactone of 2-carboxy-4-hydroxy-7-methoxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydrophenanthrone

Starting from 6-methoxynaphthaldehyde-2, 2-carboxy-7-methoxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydrophenanthrone-4 was prepared. Sodium borohydride reduction of the keto-acid followed by chromic acid oxidation yielded the lactone of 2-carboxy-4-hydroxy-7-methoxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydrophenanthrone. Alkylation of the lactone of 2-carboxy-4-hydroxy-6-methoxytetralone was not promising.

Bi2−xPbx(Ca, Sr)n+1CunO2n+4+δ (n = 1, 2, 3, and 4) family of superconductors

Superconducting oxides of the Bi1.5Pb0.5(Ca, Sr)n+1CunO2n+4+δ series with n = 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been characterized. The superconducting transition temperature increases markedly with n up to n = 3, but the Tc of the n = 4 member is not much higher than that of the n = 3 member. The Tc does not change significantly in Bi2−xPbxCaSr2Cu2O8+δ with x (0.1 < x ≤ 0.5).

Reduction of quinolines to 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro derivatives employing a combination of NaCNBH3 and BF3.OEt(2)

A regiospecific reduction of quinolines (and 1,10-phenanthroline) into the corresponding 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro derivatives using a combination of sodium cyanoborohydride and boron trifluoride etherate in refluxing methanol is described. Under the same conditions indole and acridine reduced to the corresponding dihydroderivatives, whereas acyl group transfer from oxygen to nitrogen atom is also noticed in the case of 8-acyloxyquinolines.

Tuning of phonon anharmonicity in pyrochlore titanates: temperature-dependent Raman studies of Sm2Ti2-xZrxO7 (x=0, 1/2, 3/4, and 2)and stuffed spin-ice Ho2+xTi2-xO7-x/2 (x=0, 1/3, and 2/3)

Anomalous temperature dependence of Raman phonon wavenumbers attributed to phononphonon anharmonic interactions has been studied in two different families of pyrochlore titanates. We bring out the role of the ionic size of titanium and the inherent vacancies of pyrochlore in these anomalies by studying the effect of replacement of Ti4?+ by Zr4?+ in Sm2Ti2O7 and by stuffing Ho3?+ in place of Ti4?+ in Ho2Ti2O7 with appropriate oxygen stoichiometry. Our results show that an increase in the concentration of the larger ion, i.e. Zr4?+ or Ho3?+, reduces the phonon anomalies, thus implying a decrease in the phononphonon anharmonic interactions. In addition, we find signatures of coupling between a phonon and crystal field transition in Sm2Ti2O7, manifested as an unusual increase in the phonon intensity with increasing temperature. Regioselective synthesis and antimicrobial studies of ester linked 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-bistriazoles

A series of 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-bistriazoles was synthesized via click chemistry by cycloaddition of various bisalkynes with benzyl/2-phenylethyl azide. Synthesized triazoles were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and mass spectral techniques. All the compounds were evaluated for antibacterial/antifungal activities and found to possess moderate to good antimicrobial activities. Sm(III)nitrate-catalyzed one-pot synthesis of furano3,2c]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines and DNA photocleavage studies

The synthesis and DNA photocleavage studies of furano3,2-c]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines have been reported. Sm(III)nitrate was found to be an efficient for the Diels-Alder reaction of aryl amines with 2,3-dihydrofuran to offer the corresponding furano3,2-c]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines derivatives as a mixture of cis/trans stereoisomers in moderate yields. The aqueous solubility of acid catalyst can be recycled without significant loss of activity. The DNA photocleavage studies shows that, the cis/trans stereoisomers are good DNA cleavage mimic in terms of molecular structure. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Imaging Intracellular Zinc by Using a Glyoxal Bis(4-methyl-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone) Ligand

The ligand glyoxal bis(4-methyl-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone) (GTSCH2) is shown to be a selective fluorescence turn-on sensor for zinc ions (Zn2+). This sensor is easy to synthesize, exhibits excellent sensitivity and selectivity towards Zn2+ over other physiologically relevant cations, and has sub-nanomolar binding affinity. It displays maximum fluorescence response to Zn2+ when the metal/ligand ratio is 1:1 and displays stable fluorescence over a broad pH range. The potential of GTSCH2 to image Zn2+ inside the cell was demonstrated in MCF-7 cells (human breast cancer cell line) by using flow cytometry and confocal fluorescence microscopy. Cell viability studies reveal that the probe is biocompatible and suitable for cellular applications.

Two supramolecular assemblies of p-sulfonato-calix[8]arene were stacked by some infinite 1D 'molecular capsule' chains in which the calixarenes adopt an unprecedented 1,2,3,4-alternate double cone conformation.
