O caranguejo-uçá, Ucides cordatus, é uma espécie típica dos manguezais brasileiros e tem grande importância econômica para as populações litorâneas tradicionais. O presente trabalho investigou a influência da intensidade luminosa sobre a sobrevivência e a taxa de desenvolvimento larval de U. cordatus. Três intensidades luminosas foram avaliadas: claro - 710 lux, penumbra - 210 lux e escuro - 1 lux, em duas condições de cultivo, individual e coletivo. Houve diferenças significativas entre as taxas de sobrevivência das larvas zoea e as três intensidades luminosas avaliadas (p<0,05). As maiores taxas de ecdise para o estágio de megalopa foram obtidas no tratamento claro (42% nos cultivos coletivos e 30% nos cultivos individuais). No tratamento escuro, a metamorfose para megalopa foi de apenas 16% nos cultivos coletivos e de 7% nos cultivos individuais. Estes resultados indicam que a manutenção das larvas em baixas intensidades luminosas afeta negativamente a sobrevivência larval de U. cordatus.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of residual leaf area index (rLAI), years of evaluation and grazing cycles on the accumulation and disappearance of forage, and changes in the pasture structure of xaraes palisadegrass submitted to grazing intensities and intermittent stocking in two summers. The experiment was carried out at the Faculdade de Ciencias Agrarias e Veterinaria of Unesp, Campus of Jaboticabal, SP and the intensities of grazing were defined by four rLAI: 0.8, 1.3, 1.8 and 2.3. When the canopy intercepted 95% of incident light, the animals were placed on the pasture for grazing and kept until the rLAI target has been reached. Pastures were grazed by non-lactating Holstein cows (Bos Taurus Taurus L.), using the technique of mob-stocking. It was evaluated the canopy height, accumulation, disappearance and morphological components of forage and rest period. Residual leaf area index from 1.3 to 1.8 are the best in the accumulation and disappearance of forage and pasture structure. It is observed variability of the accumulation and disappearance of forage and pasture structure for years of assessment and grazing cycles within each year.

The objective of this study was to determine the best height of the Tanzania grass under grazing, assessing morphological and productive characteristics of the sward. This experiment was conducted in Cidade Gaucha, Parana, where he was rated the accumulation rate and morphological characteristics of Tanzania grass pastures grazed at 20, 40, 60 and 80 cm grazing under continuous stocking with variable stocking rate for beef cattle. The experimental area was 12 hectare divided in paddocks of one hectare each. For each paddock were allocated two grazing exclusion cage for estimating herbage accumulation, and eight samples were taken every 28 days throughout the year 2010. The completely randomized design. The herbage mass of the morphological structures showed a linear positive function of sward heights. The height of defoliation did not influence the rate of herbage accumulation for any of the morphological structures: green leaf, stem + sheaths and senescent material. There were also no differences in leaf: stem ratio. All heights within the range studied provided adequate number of green leaves per tiller. Tanzania grass pastures grazed under continuous stocking between 40 and 60 cm, for providing a good association between accumulation and mass of green leaf blades, and acceptable values of the mass of stem + sheaths and senescent material. Pasture of Tanzania grass under 60 and 80 cm allow of leaves satisfactory accumulation in the autumn.

Introdução: A utilização de diferentes intensidades em sessões de exercícios com pesos, para os músculos extensores do cotovelo, tem proporcionado diferenças na sustentabilidade das repetições e no volume total. Entretanto, devido às alterações do desempenho neuromuscular inter-membros, tais evidências não podem ser extrapoladas para membros inferiores. Objetivo: Comparar a resposta aguda de sessões de exercício com pesos, realizadas com diferentes intensidades, na sustentabilidade das repetições e no volume total, em idosas treinadas. Materiais e Métodos: Participaram do estudo 16 idosas (68,3 +-6,0 anos) treinadas com pesos. Os dados foram coletados em cinco sessões, separadas por no mínimo 48 horas de descanso. A intensidade, em quilogramas, do teste de repetições máximas (15 RM) foi determinada nas duas primeiras visitas e confirmada na terceira. Nas quarta e quinta visitas, foram realizadas as sessões com as diferentes intensidades (em uma sessão - três séries até a fadiga muscular concêntrica, com a intensidade de 100% de 15 RM; na outra sessão - duas séries de 15 repetições e na terceira série até a fadiga muscular concêntrica, com a intensidade de 90% de 15 RM). Em ambas as sessões, o intervalo de recuperação utilizado entre as séries foi de dois minutos. Todas as participantes realizaram ambos os protocolos e um delineamento crossover balanceado foi utilizado para determinar a ordem das sessões. Resultados: O teste t de Student para amostras dependentes demonstrou que o volume total da sessão de teste com 90% de 15 RM foi significativamente superior (22,5%; P < 0,01) ao da sessão com 100% de 15 RM. The prescription of strength training intensity (ST) by maximum repetition (RM) is characterized by a decrease in the number of repetitions in multiple series. Some studies have shown that reductions in the intensity of exercise can optimize the volume of training with similar acute neuromuscular behaviors. The objective of the study was to investigate the acute effect of two different ST intensities on the training volume, maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) and rate of force development (RFD) in elderly women. The study included eight trained women (66.7 ± 6.7 years; 7.6 ± 17.8 kg; 159 cm; 29.33 ± 5.80 kg/m²). They underwent to three experimental conditions: two different intensities of ST (100% and 80% of 15-RM) on a chair for Leg Extension and a control condition. In the condition to 100% of 15 RM, all participants performed three sets to the concentric muscle fatigue, whereas in the condition to 80% involved the use of two sets of 15 repetitions and only the third to the concentric muscle fatigue. The order of experimental conditions was randomized. The MVC and RFD were determined on the basis of the isometric forcetime curve analysis which was obtained by a force transducer fixed on the unit Bonnet Chair, in the pre and after four and ten minutes for each experimental conditions. The total volume was calculated by multiplying the number of repetitions in three sets by the load in kg. Descriptive statistical analysis procedures were employed (mean ± standard deviation) in addition to two-way ANOVA. The level of significance was set at p <0.05. It was neither main effect of moment or condition, nor condition x moment interaction for MVC and RFD. The purpose of this study was to use a fluorescent dye and CLSM microscope to observe the effect of different light intensities on dentin tensile bond strength. Flat dentin surfaces were created on 16 intact human third molars and divided in 4 groups: Group G1 - halogen - KM -200R®; Group G2 - LED - Ultraled®; Group G3 - LED - UltraLume LED5® and Group G4 - LED - Biolux Single V®. For all the groups, the restoration procedure used Single Bond® adhesive, mixed with rodamin B and InTen-S® composite resin. Then, they were cut on serial sections to obtain 1 mm2 area and submitted to micro tensile test and after words, the fractures were analyzed with a digital microscope and CLSM. The statistical analysis showed that all in all groups, except Group G2, which had a significant smaller tensile bond strength ratio. The fracture mode analysis showed that there were significant differences when comparing groups G1 / G2, and G2 / G4. There is no evidence of relevant differences among the other groups. With these results, we conclude that the use of fluorescent dye and CLSM demonstrated to be a simple and nondestructive technique, and that there are evidences that light intensities influenced the dentine tensile.
