This present study of quantitative/qualitative approach, aims to analyze the outpatient care at the Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL), and, having as guide, the reception of the user. In this regard were invited and interviewed 20 users. Besides the interviews, conducted in a period of 45 days, in this same period of time was used a field diary for more significant notes of observations more significant. In the analysis, we drafted the socio-demographic profile of the group and identified their main complaints, problems and suggestions. For this, we have built graphics, tables and pictures, in addition to standing out their testimony, as a resource for better understanding of the subjective aspects. The theoretical reference consisted of documents from the Ministry of Health about the reception and humanization, and the studies of Merhy, Franco, Pinheiro, Matumoto, Mariotti, Teixeira, among others. The results show the ambulatory of HUOL as a privileged space and of credibility, where users commonly, find answers to their problems. However, these same users were unanimous in saying the difficulties they face in obtaining consultations, from the basic unit, until the hospital. Regarding the service, although they feel satisfied as for the assistance received, they list a series of problems, of structural relationship order: lack of visual signalling, information, wheelchairs, hygiene, in the waiting rooms that offer some comfort, besides the inattention of some professionals. In summary, in the study, undertaken now, we cannot say that there is in the reality studied, the reception, in its full meaning, but the HUOL as hospital-school, has all the potential to accomplish it

This research aimed to understand pregnant general meaning about consort absence in prenatal care. It s an exploratory and descriptive qualitative approach, developed at Centro de Saúde de Jardim Lola, São Gonçalo do Amarante / RN. Participated in investigation 20 pregnant enrolled in prenatal program, their aged over 18 years, guidance of mental faculties and who survive together her partner. Data were collected from March to May 2009, through semi-structured interview. The analysis was processed according to grounded theory and symbolic interactionism as theoretical and methodological references. To support discussions were used literature findings involving political aspects of women humanization in health care and gender relations within family. Following footsteps of points it were adopted derived following sub categories: ¨Realizing involvement of consort during prenatal¨, ¨Expressing feelings during prenatal¨ and ¨Manifesting attitudes during prenatal period¨. These, when they had their properties and dimensions analyzed, resulted in the main category ¨ Experiencing absence of compeer in clinical prenatal¨. The construction of this theory leads to conclusion that women understand absence of her partner, attributing this to even work at the moment prenatal care or does not like to attend health institutions. However, this does not mean that his presence is dismissed, because desire to be with him in prenatal care was mentioned by most interviewees. So, partner absent at time, leads women to experience desires, feelings, attitudes, perceptions and expectations about studied phenomenon. This reality, induce that absence of them partner in prenatal care predisposes women to strengthening of discomforts arising from pregnancy and therefore goes against wellbeing of pregnant, and ensure the possibility of marital discord. This requires professional nursing measures to get in inclusion of partner in daily pre-natal care in humanization perspective.

Qualitative study on the meaning of a child s birth to the father. Its general purpose was to comprehend the significance the man attaches to his child s birth and its specific objectives were to identify the man s feelings with regard to his child s birth as well as to verify his attitude toward a child s birth. The study was founded on the theoretical reference system about the man in the gravid-puerperal cycle and the humanization of the assistance. The data were obtained through semistructured interview performed with men accompanying their children s birth whose wives were in the immediate puerperium. This stage occurred in two maternity hospitals in Natal-RN, both of which adopt the principle of safe notherhood in the attendance of women in the process of parturition. The material apprehended from the statements was treated in conformity with the content analysis method in the mode of thematic analysis according to Bardin. Three thematic categories emerged from this process: the father s attitude toward his child s birth, the father s feelings in respect of his child s birth, and the informations received by the father in the course of his child s birth. The speech content was analyzed in accordance with the principles of symbolic interactionism according to Blumer. The results showed that the husbands interact with their respective wives and respond with attitudes of care, help, support, and encouragement within the principles of humanization intermingled with feelings of happiness, restlessness, and suffering leading them to appraise and exalt their consorts. Besides, we verified that the father s attitudes and feelings in the delivery room in the light of symbolic interactionism tend to be influenced by the interaction between him and the attending professionals

Empathy is a basic facilitating element of the therapeutic helping relationship and the humanization process in health care. The objectives of this study were to identify the empathy level of health professionals working in the obstetrical sector of a university hospital recognized for its humanistic care and the perceptions of the women under their care regarding the empathic behavior shown by these professionals during hospitalization. We conducted a quanti/qualitative study with 47 health professionals that worked in the obstetrical sector (13 obstetricians, 12 nurses, 22 nurse technicians) and an intentional sample of 101 women that received cared from these professionals during the study period. We collected data by means of the Jefferson Empathy Scale for Health Professioals (JEPS-HR) and the Patient´s Perception of Health Professional Empathy (PPHPE), and two additional open questions designed to obtain the subjective opinion about the empathic behavior during the care. We utilized thematic analysis for the data obtained through the open questions and descriptive and inferential statistics for the quantitative data. We identified five thematic categories that represent the aspects valued by the professionals in their relationship with the women under their care: emotional involvement, communication, warm environment, integral vision and technical/scientific knowledge. The mean score on the JEPS-HR reported for the health professionals was 120,40, being that the maximum possible was 140.The Cronbach Alpha for the JEPS-HR was 0,83, indicating an acceptable level of reliability for this population. We consider therefore, that these professionals presented an acceptable empathy level when compared to other populations observed with the JEPS-HR. The results also indicated that women had statistically significant (p ≤ 0,05) higher scores than men and that professionals with higher working hours tended to have lower scores in the empathy scale (r = -0,288; p ≤ 0,05). The analysis of the subjective responses of the women indicated that they were satisfied with the humanistic care provided by the professionals but they also point out the existence of some power relationships. There were no significant differences in the empathy level of the medical or nursing team perceived by the women who registered means of 41,90 and 41,20 respectively on the PPHPE. In view of these results and considering the relevance of the element of empathy for care based on humanistic values, we reiterate the importance of further in-service training for the health team of the hospital in focus, on the topics of empathy and global aspects of humanized care for the implementation of its mission

Esta Dissertação tematiza sobre as ouvidorias de saúde pública como um espaço de participação cidadã na gestão administrativa, indagando se acontece uma relação dialógica entre governo, medicina e sociedade, na perspectiva de aproximação da gestão e serviços prestados pela saúde pública, de acordo com a Política de Humanização do SUS. A hipótese norteadora do estudo é a de que com a participação popular, através das ouvidorias, são produzidas transformações nas práticas desempenhadas pelos diferentes atores na configuração das práticas no cuidado em saúde, em aproximação com os princípios e estratégias de Humanização do Sistema Único de Saúde, com capacidade de tensionar os papéis constituídos no contexto biomédico que se constituiu como predominante, a partir dos fins do século XVII. Objetiva identificar as contribuições efetivas da atuação das ouvidorias de saúde pública, na construção e execução de novas práticas da saúde, de acordo com a PNH. Foi desenvolvida em quatro capítulos, que tratam da participação social e da história das ouvidorias de saúde pública, no Brasil, do SUS e da Política de Humanização na Saúde,da pesquisa propriamente dita e as considerações finais. A investigação, com desenho qualitativo e exploratório, visa a conhecer, descrever e compreender a realidade da política de humanização nas instituições de saúde pública no estado do Pará, por intermédio das demandas das ouvidorias em um processo de ampliação de mecanismos democráticos de controle social das políticas públicas de saúde. Entre os resultados alcançados nesta pesquisa, cita-se que as Ouvidorias de Saúde Pública têm o claro compromisso de se tornarem instituições de excelência e cumprirem o seu papel na promoção do diálogo entre o estado, a medicina e a sociedade. Quanto a esse processo colaborar na construção de novas práticas em saúde, não se identificam grandes efetividades, porém, serve como valor simbólico de representatividade de acessibilidade de comunicação e diálogo sem burocracia entre sociedade e gestão pública é significativa. Observa-se a necessidade da gestão da saúde pública, no sentido de se organizar em suas várias instâncias.

The study aimed to investigate social representations of the terms diabetes and diabetic foot in different populations. Participants were divided into groups: diabetics (GD); non- diabetics (GN); and non-diabetic healthcare professionals (GP). Personal data were collected, and subjects answered two questions that were expected to evoke five words that came to mind when they thought of diabetes and then diabetic foot. The evoked material was analyzed with the software Ensemble de Programmes Permettant l'Analyse dês Èvocations. A total of 161 subjects participated, including GD (n = 72) with a mean age of 56.12 ± 5.49 years; GN (n = 38) with a mean age of 54.29 ± 7.91 years; and GP (n = 51) with 34.95 ± 7.52 years. The term diabetes evoked 297 words in GD, 172 in GN, and 235 words in GP. The term diabetic foot evoked 180 words in GD, 90 in GN, and 236 in GP. The groups proved to be anxious for more information, thus confirming the need for awareness-raising and educational programs on diabetes, covering comprehensive issues concerning the disease.

Humanization at dental care is highly important due to uneven relation between scientific / technical advances in dentistry and thequality of human contact. The dental treatment goes beyond the field of scientific knowledge. Therefore, the dental treatment requiresbalance among technical skill, scientific training, and humanist vision of health promotion. Contemporarily, humanization is understoodas tripod based on user's rights, dental practice and organization of a humanized model. Curriculum integration of ethical, humanistic,scientific and technical contents is an important and current challenge on teaching / learning process for professionals at Dentistry. Thispaper aims to, guided by the literature review, to present some considerations on human care in dentistry, with emphasis on theimportance of professional /patient relationship for promoting oral health. Objective. To asses fairy tales reading as a humanization strategy of hospitalized children care. Methodology. Qualitative study in which data was collected from: fairy tales reading: individual interview, questionnaire, drawings and stories created by the children. Results. During reading sessions, improvement in the children’s reactions was seen: They were more focused, participative, enthusiastic and happy; those accompanying the children liked and accepted this intervention. Data analysis collected from Interviews, questionnaires, narratives and drawings, showed results in favor of the tales reading practice. Conclusion. The humanization strategy of care supported by fairy tales reading, had a positive impact in the children’s admission to the hospital.

A formação humanística do aluno de Medicina é um importante objetivo educacional nas escolas médicas. Parte dessa formação se dá por meio de disciplinas da área das Humanidades, mas grande parte ocorre pelo aprendizado no ambiente cultural e nas relações interpessoais dentro da escola médica, em especial a relação professor-aluno. Com o objetivo de estudar a relação professor-aluno em uma escola médica padrão no Estado de São Paulo, desenhou-se este estudo de caso. Por meio de observação etnográfica e entrevistas em profundidade, obtivemos dados que foram analisados pelo método hermenêutico dentro de categorias analíticas construídas com base no referencial teórico da pesquisa e nos achados empíricos referentes aos tipos de relação pedagógica observados nessa escola. Descrevemos e interpretamos três tipos de relação dessa natureza, baseados na onipotência do professor, na construção de vínculo e na desqualificação do aluno. Em cada um deles, um modo predominante de comportamento estaria sendo ensinado de modo informal, aproximando ou afastando o ensino da ética e da competência relacional. Conclui-se que as relações professor-aluno na escola médica precisam ser alvo de estudo e atenção, assim como a clara definição de um padrão ético institucional para todos, para que se possa alcançar o objetivo de uma formação humanística em Medicina.
