Variable temperature, variable-gap Otto prism coupler for use in a vacuum environment

The field of surface polariton physics really took off with the prism coupling techniques developed by Kretschmann and Raether, and by Otto. This article reports on the construction and operation of a rotatable, in vacuo, variable temperature, Otto coupler with a coupling gap that can be varied by remote control. The specific design attributes of the system offer additional advantages to those of standard Otto systems of (i) temperature variation (ambient to 85 K), and (ii) the use of a valuable, additional reference point, namely the gap-independent reflectance at the Brewster angle at any given, fixed temperature. The instrument is placed firmly in a historical context of developments in the field. The efficacy of the coupler is demonstrated by sample attenuated total reflectance results on films of platinum, niobium, and yttrium barium copper oxide and on aluminum/gallium arsenide (Al/GaAs) Schottky diode structures. Levantamiento de una base de datos para el diagnóstico de fallas en motores de combustión interna ciclo Otto con sistema MPFI mediante el análisis del sensor MAP

En el presente documento se presenta el desarrollo de la creación de una base de datos para el diagnóstico de fallas en los motores de combustión interna MPFI mediante el análisis del sensor MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure), a través del cual se puede determinar y diagnosticar fallas en sensores, actuadores y sistemas auxiliares.

L’éthique de la discussion : Portée et limites des propositions de Karl-Otto Apel

Management sciences and corporate practices of companies bring extensive views on the ethics and the corporate responsibility. The practical experiments try to build, and to make appropriate themselves to itself by the actors of companies, the deontological ethics governed by principles. Dialogue and deliberation are the political frame given to this construction. A question seems then central, that of the ultimate rational foundation of the morality and its normative contents. K.O. Apel’s propositions concerning his ethics of the discussion founded in a pragmatico-transcendental way seems to me to allow an essential advance on the subject. According to Apel, this foundation should supply: 1) The bases of an ultimate rational foundation of the morality and its normative contents, 2) The bases of the universal validity of a principle of justice, solidarity and co responsibility, 3) The bases of an ethics of the responsibility, but not an deontological ethics, governed by principles which could come to complete and to legitimize socio organizational processes and systems of relations which, placed in a new ethical context, could continue. In this article, I try to show in what K.O. Apel’s propositions allow to enrich a reflection opened by the research works in business ethics and in organizational behavior.

Educación y poder en Chile : periodos Frei, Allende, Pinochet (1964-1985).

Demostrar cómo el poder determina la educación en Chile. El sistema educativo chileno entre los años 1964-1985, considerando como determinantes las relaciones de poder, económicas y socio-culturales. Descripción de las tres etapas de gobierno: 1) Eduardo Frei: la dinámica educativa. 2) Salvador Allende: la dialéctica educativa. 3) Augusto Pinochet: la reacción educativa. Investigación bibliográfica. Seminarios, reuniones, entrevistas. Realiza esquemas descriptivo-interpretativos dentro de un contexto historicista; para ello realiza cortes históricos junto a la descripción más detallada de momentos cruciales. Con Frei el Estado juega un papel mediador entre clases y burguesía. Allende crea un sistema educativo de doble red: 1) Sistema Escolar Regular; 2) Sistema de Educación Popular. Con Pinochet el ejecutivo controla el Sistema Escolar global. La mayoría de las reformas son propulsadas para lograr un ajuste al sistema productivo. El aparato educativo es la instancia 'legítima' de legitimación de una concepción cultural determinada. Tiene una función de reproducción. En contradicción al aparato educativo, se desarrolla siempre una Pedagogía de liberación.
