This paper deals with a prevailing assumption that basic goods are accessory to claims of justice. Against such an assumption, the paper advances the idea that basic goods (the core of what I wish to call the sufficiency threshold) are fundamental as a matter of justice. The paper then addresses the question as to what is the elemental justifiability of a social minimum and how that relates to theories of justice, particularly to emerging theories of global justice. The arguments against the aforementioned assumption call upon the strengths of a general theory of justice already in place, namely, John Rawls’s theory of justice and the enriching response and criticism thereof—particularly David Miller’s theory of justice.

Sweatshop labour is sometimes defended from critics by arguments that stress the voluntariness of the worker’s choice, and the fact that sweatshops provide a source of income where no other similar source exists. The idea is if it is exploitation—as their opponents charge—it is mutually beneficial and consensual exploitation. This defence appeals to the non-worseness claim (NWC), which says that if exploitation is better for the exploited party than neglect, it cannot be seriously wrong. The NWC renders otherwise exploitative—and therefore morally wrong—transactions permissible, making the exploitation of the global poor a justifiable path to development. In this paper, I argue that the use of NWC for the case of sweatshops is misleading. After reviewing and strengthening the exploitation claims made concerning sweatshops, most importantly by refuting certain allegations that a micro-unfairness account of exploitation cannot evaluate sweatshop labour as exploitative, I then argue that even if this practice may seem permissible due to benefits otherwise unavailable to the global poor, there remains a duty to address the background conditions that make this form of wrong-doing possible, which the NWC cannot accommodate. I argue that the NWC denies this by unreasonably limiting its scope and is therefore incomplete, and ultimately unconvincing.

Buscar la concomitancia existente entre los sistemas de interacción didáctica Aschner-Gallagher y Claim, Claim y G. Vázquez, a través del coeficiente de contingencia. Interacción didáctica en varias clases de segundo de EGB. Análisis de los distintos sistemas de interacción en el aula: Claim, Vázquez, Aschner-Gallagher, y Flanders comparación cuantitativa de los sistemas Aschner-Gallagher y Claim, Claim y G. Vázquez. En el sistema Aschner-Gallagher se estudian los siguientes factores: rutina, memoria cognitiva, pensamiento convergente, pensamiento divergente, pensamiento evaluativo, del sistema Claim se estudian los comportamientos y los niveles cognitivos. Del sistema Vázquez sus categorías. Grabaciones en cinta magnetofónica de doce horas de diferentes clases dadas por cinco profesores distintos de segundo de EGB. Frecuencias. Coeficiente de contingencia. Correlación de frecuencias por pares de categorías. El coeficiente de contingencia entre los sistemas Aschner-Gallagher y Claim no es muy elevado, tan solo un 0,696, lo que significa baja concomitancia entre ambos. Sin embargo, el coeficiente obtenido en la comparación del sistema de Claim y el de G. Vázquez, se deduce una alta concomitancia. De la correlación de frecuencias se deduce que en el aula predominan las preguntas directas y cerradas sobre las amplias y divergentes en todos los sistemas analizados. Propone un nuevo sistema de interacción didáctica basado en todos los sistemas analizados y al que se denomina BGBQ. Fecha finalización tomada del código del documento.

The Cue Utilization Theory establishes that all products are made of multiples cues that may be seen as surrogates for the intangible attributes that make up any given product. However, the results of many years of research have yet yielded little consensus as to the impact generated by the use of such cues. This research aims to contribute to the discussion about the importance of intrinsic cues by investigating the effects that the use of product cues that confirm the product claim may have on Claim Credibility (measured through Ad Credibility), and also on consumers’ Purchase Intention and Perceived Risk toward the product. An experiment was designed to test such effects and the results suggest the effects of the use of Claim Confirming Product Cues depend on consumer’s level of awareness about such cue, and that when consumers are aware of it, Ad Credibility and Purchase Intention increase, as Perceived Risk decreases. Such results may have implications to academicians and practitioners, as well as may provide insights for future research.
