Numa sociedade cada vez mais permeada pelo desenvolvimento científicotecnológico emerge o reconhecimento da importância da Educação em Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS). Neste sentido, investigações estão a ser produzidas sobre a relação existente entre as concepções dos professores sobre CTS e suas práticas de ensino, mas os resultados são controversos. Assim, o presente estudo procurou contribuir para compreensão da relação entre as concepções sobre CTS e as práticas didáctico-pedagógicas desenvolvidas por professores de uma escola portuguesa considerada inovadora. Através de um estudo de caso, de natureza qualitativa, a investigação envolveu dois professores que trabalham com alunos do 3º ao 6º ano de escolaridade e utilizou diversas técnicas e instrumentos de recolha de dados. As concepções sobre CTS foram levantadas com a aplicação do questionário VOSTS “Views on Science-Technology-Society” (versão portuguesa adaptada por Canavarro, 2000). As práticas didáctico-pedagógicas dos professores caracterizaram-se com o apoio do “Instrumento de Caracterização das Práticas Pedagógico-Didácticas CTS” (Vieira, 2003) e do registo das observações das aulas dos professores através do Diário do Investigador e de áudio-gravações. O processo de análise dos dados aponta para concepções ingénuas sobre CTS dos professores, onde a Ciência e a Tecnologia foi vista como, por exemplo, “domínios interligados que nem sempre repercutem na sociedade”. Relativamente às práticas didáctico-pedagógicas, evidencia-se um ensino que valoriza o conhecimento e, embora inserido num contexto sócio-construtivista de Escola, este não contempla explicitamente uma orientação CTS. Sobre a relação entre as concepções sobre CTS dos professores e suas práticas didáctico-pedagógicas implementadas no ensino de Ciências, os resultados obtidos não permitem estabelecer conclusivamente uma relação ou a ausência dela. Contudo, os resultados trazem contributos, ainda que modestos, para a compreensão desta questão e salientam a complexidade da problemática abordada. Quanto ao contexto escolar inovador em que se realizou a investigação, os resultados apontam algumas divergências entre a proposta teórica do projecto pedagógico e as práticas implementadas em sala de aula. Portanto, uma proposta pedagógica que apresenta potenciais para um ensino com orientação CTS não se consolida se os professores não forem preparados para explorar este potencial. Salienta-se, assim, a necessidade de formação inicial e continuada de professores no Ensino das Ciências com Orientação CTS. ABSTRACT: In one society more and more promoted by scientific and technological development emerges the recognition of the importance of the Science, Society, and Technology (STS) in our Education. In these sense, investigations are being follow up about the existing relation between the conceptions of the teachers about STS and their practices in education, but the results are controversial. Thus, the present study it looked forward to contribute for the knowledge of relations between the conceptions of STS and their didacticpedagogical issues developed by teachers of one portuguese school considered innovative. Through a study of a case, of qualitative nature, an investigation involving two teachers which work with students of the third and sixth year of scholarship and using a broad of diverse techniques and instruments of data acquire. Conceptions about STS where taken in account with the use a questionnaire VOSTS " Views on Science-Technology-Society " (Portuguese version adapted by Canavarro, 2000). The didactic-pedagogical practices used by teachers are characterized by the support of " Instruments of characterization of didacticpedagogical practices STS" (Vieira, 2003) and of the registry of class observations by the teachers through the Investigator Diary as well as audio recordings. The process of analysis of data acquire leads to ingénues conceptions about the STS of the teachers, where Science and Technology was seen as, for example, "inter ligated domains which not always have repercussions in society". Relatively to didactic-pedagogical issues, it is proven that one education that embraces knowledge but insert in a context of socialconstructiveness of School will not contemplate an explicit orientation towards STS. About relation between the conceptions related to STS used by the teachers and their didactic-pedagogical issues implemented in education of Science, the results do not allow to establish a conclusive connection them or the lack of it. However, the results bring modest contributes for the comprehension of these question and they point out the complexity of the topic taken in account. To sum up, in relation to the innovative school context in which the investigation was taken the results lead to some divergences between the theoretical proposal of the pedagogic project and the practices implemented in the school class. So, one pedagogical proposal, which shows potential positive issues for one education STS oriented, does not get consolidated if the teachers are not prepared to explore this issue. It is lined out, the necessity of initial formation and trough life by the teachers in Education of Sciences with orientation to STS.

This study focused on the development of a sensitive enzymatic biosensor for the determination of pirimicarb pesticide based on the immobilization of laccase on composite carbon paste electrodes. Multi- walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)paste electrode modified by dispersion of laccase(3%,w/w) within the optimum composite matrix(60:40%,w/w,MWCNTs and paraffin binder)showed the best performance, with excellent electron transfer kinetic and catalytic effects related to the redox process of the substrate4- aminophenol. No metal or anti-interference membrane was added. Based on the inhibition of laccase activity, pirimicarb can be determined in the range 9.90 ×10- 7 to 1.15 ×10- 5 molL 1 using 4- aminophenol as substrate at the optimum pH of 5.0, with acceptable repeatability and reproducibility (relative standard deviations lower than 5%).The limit of detection obtained was 1.8 × 10-7 molL 1 (0.04 mgkg 1 on a fresh weight vegetable basis).The high activity and catalytic properties of the laccase- based biosensor are retained during ca. one month. The optimized electroanalytical protocol coupled to the QuEChERS methodology were applied to tomato and lettuce samples spiked at three levels; recoveries ranging from 91.0±0.1% to 101.0 ± 0.3% were attained. No significant effects in the pirimicarb electro- analysis were observed by the presence of pro-vitamin A, vitamins B1 and C,and glucose in the vegetable extracts. The proposed biosensor- based pesticide residue methodology fulfills all requisites to be used in implementation of food safety programs.

De nombreuses études ont établi que la majorité des neurones libèrent plus qu’une substance chimique. Il est bien connu que les neurones peuvent co-exprimer et co-libérer des neuropeptides en plus de leur neurotransmetteur, mais des évidences de la co-libération de deux petits neurotransmetteurs à action rapide se sont accumulées récemment. Des enregistrements électrophysiologiques ont aussi montré que des neurones sérotoninergiques et dopaminergiques isolés peuvent libérer du glutamate quand ils sont placés en culture. De plus, la présence de glutamate et de glutaminase a été détectée dans des neurones sérotoninergiques, dopaminergiques et noradrénergiques par immunomarquage sur des tranches de cerveau. Malheureusement, en considérant le rôle métabolique du glutamate, sa détection immunologique n’est pas suffisante pour assurer le phénotype glutamatergique d’un neurone. Récemment, la découverte de trois transporteurs vésiculaires du glutamate (VGLUT1-3) a grandement facilité l’identification des neurones glutamatergiques. Ces transporteurs sont nécessaires pour la libération de glutamate et constituent les premiers marqueurs morphologiques du phénotype glutamatergique. Il a été démontré que des neurones noradrénergiques expriment VGLUT2 et que des neurones sérotoninergiques expriment VGLUT3. Mais aucune évidence d’expression d’un des sous-types de VGLUT n’a été reportée pour les neurones dopaminergiques. Le but de notre travail était d’identifier quel sous-type de VGLUT est exprimé par les neurones dopaminergiques mésencéphaliques, et de déterminer si le phénotype glutamatergique de ces neurones peut être modulé dans des conditions particulières. Premièrement, nous avons utilisé des microcultures pour isoler les neurones dopaminergiques et des doubles marquages immunocytochimiques pour observer l’expression de VGLUT dans les neurones positifs pour la tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). Nous avons montré que la majorité (80%) des neurones TH+ isolés exprime spécifiquement VGLUT2. Cette expression est précoce au cours du développement in vitro et limitée aux projections axonales des neurones dopaminergiques. Toutefois, cette forte expression in vitro contraste avec la non-détection de ce transporteur dans les rats adultes in vivo. Nous avons décidé ensuite de regarder si l’expression de VGLUT2 pouvait être régulée pendant le développement cérébral de jeunes rats et sous des conditions traumatiques, par double hybridation in situ. Entre 14 et 16 jours embryonnaires, les marquages de VGLUT2 et de TH montraient une superposition significative qui n’était pas retrouvée à des stades ultérieurs. Dans le mésencéphale de jeunes rats postnataux, nous avons détecté l’ARNm de VGLUT2 dans environs 1-2% des neurones exprimant l’ARNm de TH dans la substance noire et l’aire tegmentaire ventrale (ATV). Pour explorer la régulation de l’expression de VGLUT2 dans des conditions traumatiques, nous avons utilisé la 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) pour léser les neurones dopaminergiques dans les jeunes rats. Dix jours après la chirurgie, nous avons trouvé que 27% des neurones dopaminergiques survivants dans l’ATV exprimaient l’ARNm de VGLUT2 dans les rats 6-OHDA. Finalement, nous avons observé la colocalisation de la protéine VGLUT2 dans les terminaisons TH positives par microscopie électronique. Dans les rats normaux, la protéine VGLUT2 est retrouvée dans 28% des terminaisons axonales TH dans le noyau accumbens. Dans les rats lésés à la 6-OHDA, nous avons observé une diminution considérable des terminaisons TH positives, et une augmentation dans la proportion (37%) des terminaisons dopaminergiques présentant du VGLUT2. Nos résultats suggèrent que le phénotype glutamatergique des neurones dopaminergiques est régulé au cours du développement, peut être réactivé dans des états pathologiques, et que ces neurones peuvent libérer du glutamate dans conditions spécifiques.

El Grupo de Investigación en Perdurabilidad Empresarial (GIPE) de la Facultad de Administración de la Universidad del Rosario ha venido realizando estudios que permiten a los empresarios y académicos identificar factores que pueden incidir en la perdurabilidad de una organización. Una de las primeras reflexiones de sus investigadores estableció que una empresa perdurable es la que a través del tiempo presenta resultados financieros superiores, adecua su manejo a la intensidad de las condiciones del entorno sectorial y a las fuerzas del mercado, se enfoca en espacios no explotados y hace un estudio detallado de sus competidores para diseñar y ejecutar productivamente la cadena de valor. Una empresa perdurable es la que realiza una gestión eficiente gracias a la coherencia en su acción, al conocimiento de su entorno sectorial y a sus políticas de gobierno; es la que evita estados de morbidez que pueden dificultar su crecimiento rentable, y que de esta manera evita los estados tanáticos (Vélez et ál., 2005). Tras establecer esta definición se han llevado a cabo varias investigaciones, cuyos resultados se han expuesto en libros, artículos y ponencias, con la intención de explicar por qué unas organizaciones perduran y otras desaparecen. Con la conformación de la Línea de Investigación en Perdurabilidad, a mediados del año 2011, se han realizado estudios sobre sectores determinados, para indagar por los factores que deciden la permanencia de las empresas en el tiempo. Los estudios se han apoyado en la metodología de análisis estructural de sectores estratégicos (AESE) desarrollada por Restrepo y Rivera (2008). El documento que presentamos está dedicado al análisis del sector avícola colombiano, y fue realizado de manera conjunta por estudiantes de la asignatura Estrategia de Empresa y los profesores Hugo Alberto Rivera Rodríguez y Natalia Malaver Rojas. El texto comienza con una descripción del sector y sigue con un análisis estratégico que permite identificar el estado de las empresas estudiadas y los factores que pueden contribuir a hacerlas perdurables.

Realiza un análisis comparativo entre ambos procesos de integración utilizando el marco teórico de los complejos regionales de seguridad, desarrollado por la Escuela de Copenhague identificando que la Unión Africana es un complejo regional de seguridad humana, mientras UNASUR es un régimen de seguridad en sentido clásico. Plantea la necesidad de que América Latina emule los procesos africanos exitosos, apelando a la voluntad de las élites políticas y a la participación de la sociedad civil.

Immature and mature calcretes from an alluvial terrace sequence in the Sorbas basin, southeast Spain, were dated by the U-series isochron technique. The immature horizons consistently produced statistically reliable ages of high precision. The mature horizons typically produced statistically unreliable ages but, because of linear trends in the dataset and low errors associated with each data point, it was still possible to place a best-fit isochron through the dataset to produce an age with low associated uncertainties. It is, however, only possible to prove that these statistically unreliable ages have geochronological significance if multiple isochron ages are produced for a single site, and if these multiple ages are stratigraphically consistent. The geochronological significance of such ages can be further proven if at least one of the multiple ages is statistically reliable. By using this technique to date calcretes that have formed during terrace aggradation and at the terrace surface after terrace abandonment it is possible not only to date the timing of terrace aggradation but also to constrain the age at which the river switched from aggradation to incision. This approach, therefore, constrains the timing of changes in fluvial processes more reliably than any currently used geochronological procedure and is appropriate for dating terrace sequences in dryland regions worldwide, wherever calcrete horizons are present.
