Avicena (Ibn Sīnā - 980-1037) e o argumento metafísico da unicidade de deus na hermenêutica alcorânica

Este artigo apresenta uma tradução da hermenêutica sobre a unicidade de Deus de um capítulo (sura) do Alcorão, de acordo com o pensamento de Avicena (Ibn Sῑnā). É o capítulo denominado capítulo do Monoteísmo, cujo número é 112 no Alcorão. Antes, porém, há uma introdução sobre o que representou o Alcorão nos primórdios do Islã e a sua influência no desenvolvimento da filosofia e da teologia em terras do Islã. Nesse texto, pode ser constatado que, na doutrina islâmica, o primeiro fundamento e o mais rigoroso é a unicidade de Deus. É sobre isso que este artigo discorre.

Ambulatory surgery in proctology: retrospective analysis of 1 031 cases

Introduction: The number of ambulatory surgeries accomplished in hospitals, as in private clinics, grows each day, with this increase having been observed principally in the last two decades. In many countries, such as France, ambulatory surgeries have predominated in relation to those in hospitals. Objective: To evaluate retrospectively 1 031 cases of patients operated on in the Ambulatory Surgery Service of CH. in the School of Medicine at Botucatu. Material and method: Retrospectively, 1 031 clinical cases of orificial pathologies operated on in the service were studied, analyzing the distribution by age group, sex, pathologies and postoperative complications. Result: We note predominance of patients aged less than 45 years (56.6%), discrete prevalence of males (51.2%), with hemorrhoidal disease (60%) being the principal affliction, with pain and bleeding being the most frequent complications (3.2%). Conclusions: The results obtained demonstrate that ambulatory procedures in proctology can be accomplished in a safe and systematic manner at low cost with advantages and fewer complications in relation to procedures completed in a hospitalization regime.

Robert Marret papers - Accession 980

The Robert Marett Papers are a valuable resource for researchers, as well as surveyors, in researching the growth and development of the various communities in which he worked. Bob Marett’s work, which includes survey plats (as well as copies of plats from previous surveyors), maps, architectural drawings, field notes, correspondence, copies of deeds, and appointment ledgers are available for researchers and surveyors to peruse. The collection consists of 40, 000 pieces and 124 bound volumes that span from the late 1800s to 1992. The Inventory itself consists of 313 pages and individual plats are searchable by Property Owner as well as by the Date of the Survey.

Microhardness of Radicular Dentin Treated with 980-nm Diode Laser and Different Irrigant Solutions

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the microhardness of radicular dentin after treatment with 980-nm diode laser and different irrigant solutions. Background data: There are few reports of the consequences of diode laser irradiation emitted at 980 nm on the mechanical properties of dentin. Methods: Seventy-two single canal, human canines with complete root formation were randomly distributed among three groups (n = 24), according to the irrigant solution used in the biomechanical preparation: distilled water; 1% NaOCl; and, 1% NaOCl + 17% EDTA. These groups subsequently were divided into three subgroups (n = 8), according to the diode laser parameter: no irradiation (control); 1.5W/100 Hz; and 3.0 W/100 Hz. Laser was applied with helicoidal movements for 20 sec. Roots were sectioned in slices and the fragment corresponding to the middle third was submitted to the microhardness test (KHN) at depths of 30, 90, 150, and 300 mu m. Results: ANOVA and Tukey tests showed that the microhardness of the groups irradiated with 1.5 W/100 Hz (49.7 +/- 11.2) and 3.0W/100 Hz (50.6 +/- 11.9) were statistically similar to each other (p > 0.05) and different (p < 0.05) from the non-irradiated group (45.0 +/- 9.7). Higher microhardness values were obtained at 150 mu m (49.2 +/- 11.0) and 300 mu m (52.3 +/- 11.3) which were similar among themselves and different (p < 0.05) only at the depth of 30 mu m (44.4 +/- 10.5). No differences were found among the irrigant solutions (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The microhardness of the radicular dentin increased after irradiation with 980-nm diode laser.

980-nm laser lipolysis (LAL): About 674 procedures in 359 patients

Laser lipolysis leads to reduced operator fatigue, excellent patient tolerance, quick recovery time, as well as the additional benefit of dermal tightening.
