Gd1.96-xYxEu0.04O3 (x=0.0, 0.49, 0.98, 1.47, 1.96 mol%) nanophosphors: Propellant combustion synthesis, structural and luminescence studies

Gd1.96-xYxEu0.04O3 (x = 0.0, 0.49, 0.98, 1.47, 1.96 mol%) nanophosphors were synthesized by propellant combustion method at low temperature (400 degrees C). The powder X-ray diffraction patterns of as formed Gd1.96Eu0.04O3 showed monoclinic phase, however with the addition of yttria it transforms from monoclinic to pure cubic phase. The porous nature increases with increase of yttria content. The particle size was estimated from Scherrer's and W-H plots which was found to be in the range 30-40 nm. These results were in well agreement with transmission electron microscopy studies. The optical band gap energies estimated were found to be in the range 5.32-5.49 eV. PL emission was recorded under 305 nm excitation show an intense emission peak at 611 nm along with other emission peaks at 582, 641 nm. These emission peaks were attributed to the transition of D-5(0) —> F-7(J) (J = 0, 1, 2, 3) of Eu3+ ions. It was observed that PL intensity increases with increase of Y content up to x = 0.98 and thereafter intensity decreases. CIE color co-ordinates indicates that at x = 1.47 an intense red bright color can be achieved, which could find a promising application in flat panel displays. The cubic and monoclinic phases show different thermoluminescence glow peak values measured under identical conditions. The response of the cubic phase to the applied dose showed good linearity, negligible fading, and simple glow curve structure than monoclinic phase indicating that suitability of this phosphor in dosimetric applications. A Numerical Study for Turbulent Flow and Thermal Influence Over Inhomogenous Canopy of Roughness Elements

A large-eddy simulation with transitional structure function(TSF) subgrid model we previously proposed was performed to investigate the turbulent flow with thermal influence over an inhomogeneous canopy, which was represented as alternative large and small roughness elements. The aerodynamic and thermodynamic effects of the presence of a layer of large roughness elements were modelled by adding a drag term to the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and a heat source/sink term to the scalar equation, respectively. The layer of small roughness elements was simply treated using the method as described in paper (Moeng 1984, J. Atmos Sci. 41, 2052-2062) for homogeneous rough surface. The horizontally averaged statistics such as mean vertical profiles of wind velocity, air temperature, et al., are in reasonable agreement with Gao et al.(1989, Boundary layer meteorol. 47, 349-377) field observation (homogeneous canopy). Not surprisingly, the calculated instantaneous velocity and temperature fields show that the roughness elements considerably changed the turbulent structure within the canopy. The adjustment of the mean vertical profiles of velocity and temperature was studied, which was found qualitatively comparable with Belcher et al. (2003, J Fluid Mech. 488, 369-398)'s theoretical results. The urban heat island(UHI) was investigated imposing heat source in the region of large roughness elements. An elevated inversion layer, a phenomenon often observed in the urban area (Sang et al., J Wind Eng. Ind. Aesodyn. 87, 243-258)'s was successfully simulated above the canopy. The cool island(CI) was also investigated imposing heat sink to simply model the evaporation of plant canopy. An inversion layer was found very stable and robust within the canopy.

TiC原位增强块状Cu_(47)Ti_(34)Zr_(11)Ni_8非晶合金复合材料

在电弧炉中利用吸铸法制备了直径1-4 mm的原位生成TiC和β-Ti枝晶联合增强的块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料.DSC热分析结果表明,原位生成TiC颗粒的引入,没有影响基体合金的非晶形成能力.用OM,XRD,SEM,EDS等方法研究了复合材料的相组成、微观组织以及成分分布,结果表明,TiC颗粒作为异质形核中心促进了β-Ti枝晶的形成,形成了TiC颗粒和β-Ti枝晶联合增强的块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料,而且β-Ti枝晶的尺寸和数量与TiC颗粒的多少以及试样的尺寸有关.室温压缩试验表明,同单相非晶合金相比,块状Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8非晶合金复合材料提高了抗压强度及塑性.

O constituinte Eraldo Trindade apresenta emenda para suprimir o artigo 63 das disposições transitórias, por ser contraditório. O artigo diz que a União não assumirá despesas pela criação de estados. Enquanto que no artigo anterior, destina recursos para a emancipação do estados de Roraima e Amapá. O senador Marco Maciel apresentou duas emendas: Uma pela pluralidade sindical e outra pela administração tripartite da previdência. Um conselho de patrões, empregados e governo administraria a Previdência. Termina amanhã o prazo para o relator Bernardo Cabral dar o parecer sobre as emendas. O Cronograma da Constituinte segue assim: Dias 21 e 22, publicação e distribuição do parecer do relator. De 23 a 25 apresentação dos destaques, em número de 6 para cada constituinte. Dia 26 apresentação de pedidos de preferência para votação de destaques. Dia 27, começa a votação do projeto no Plenário da Constituinte. Das 2045 emendas apresentadas ao projeto de Constituição, 1682 já tinham sido analisadas até ontem. A Previdência foi a seção que mais recebeu emendas. Dos capítulos, o mais visado foi o das Disposições Transitórias. Segundo o relator adjunto José Fogaça, a novidade ficou com o mandato presidencial. Cerca de 20 emendas pedem o mandato de 4 anos para Presidente da República. Segundo ele ainda, a emenda presidencialista cria um impasse que impede o Presidente da República de governar, caso se mantenha como está. Caso o Congresso Nacional esteja contra o Governo, ele ficará impedido de Governar.

Avoided temperatures by young fish [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod No.50, 45-47, 1981]

Directed local changes of water temperature for the purpose of controlling the behaviour of fish are based on the knowledge of the characteristics of seasonal-age dynamics of their thermoadaptation possibilities. These possibilities are still inadequately studied especially in relation to avoided temperatures. By the authors the attempt was made to determine zones of avoided temperatures for the young of five species of fish (bream, roach, blue bream, perch, peled) in the summer period of the year, and also to assess the influence on them of additional factors, in particular mechanical driving. In parallel in two-fold repetition were conducted experiments on the determination of selected, shock and lethal temperatures of these fish. Experiments were conducted with fish, caught in the littoral of the Rybinsk reservoir.

Influence of starvation on selected temperatures in the young of bream, roach and perch [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod No.50, 45-47, 1981]

Works devoted to the influence of starvation on temperature selection by fishes are few and their conclusions are contradictory. This study determined the influence of brief, up to 14 days, starvation on temperature selection by young fishes. The experiments were carried out in August-September 1976 on fingerling bream (Abramis brama L.), roach (Rutilus rutilus L.) and perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) with body lengths of 3-5 cm and weight 0.5-1.2 g. The young fish were caught in the littoral by seine-nets or small drag-nets. Immediately after catching the fish they were put in acclimatization boxes. The period of acclimatization did not exceed 2 days for bream and roach at a temperature of 20 °C and 6 days for perch at 17 °C. Before the start of the experiment and for the first 10 days of the experiment the fish were fed with oligochaetes, earthworms and daphnia, after that feeding discontinued. At the end of a 10-14 day period the giving of food was resumed. The study concludes that the experiments have shown that in the summer season the factor of starvation significantly changes the reaction to the gradient of temperature in young cyprihids - roach and bream.
