Guidelines for the safe administration of cytotoxic medical preparations in the treatment of patients with cancer

The Minister for Health’s Strategy for effective health care in the 1990s has emphasised quality of service as one of its key principles.  Within the medical sphere, almost no other field has developed and continues to expand as rapidly as that of cancer biology and treatment.  Cytotoxic therapies are a major part of these developments. Argon@uta : Les TIC a les webs dels museus d'història i arqueologia

En un principi, aquest projecte es va concebre com un treball de recerca aplicada sobre les possibilitats que obrien les TIC en la gestió del patrimoni. Per tant, es volien contemplar tots els àmbits que conformen la gestió patrimonial: la difusió, la conservació, la gestió d'equipaments, la restauració, la investigació... El resultat d'aquest treball es volia plasmar en la creació d'una pàgina de recursos virtuals per a la gestió del patrimoni que contemplaria dues vessants. D'una banda, aplegaria un recull d'experiències en l'àmbit virtual d'arreu del món -CD's, planes web, interactius...- que poguessin servir de referent als professionals de la gestió patrimonial i als estudiants d'aquest àmbit. D'altre banda, aquesta plana volia oferir una anàlisi crítica i comentari dels recursos seleccionats.

El present treball neix amb la voluntat de cercar com i què la fa avançar en l'àmbit cultural, però també amb el desig d'aprofundir en aquests elements tradicionals que defineixen les particulars identitats culturals regionals, fruit d'una diversitat que també participa en el procés global de construcció cultural europeu.

Being Recognizable in Order to Overcome the Crisis: The Ambivalence of Islamis Actor's Struggle for Visibility in France and Switzerland

Since the 1990s, and especially since the early 2000s, passionate controversies (Göle 2014) have emerged around the new visibility of Islam in the public sphere across Europe. These controversies, which crystallized in the headscarf debate, seem even more disturbing given that women who wear it are often young, urban and educated: that is to say, "modern" (Göle 1997, 2011). Indeed, these young women wearing the hijab seem to disrupt the narrative of Western modernity, including the decline in religious practice (Hervieu-Léger 2006) or the narration of the process of secularization in Europe. It is in the context of these controversies that Islam is built imaginatively as a "public problem" that has to be "solved" (Behloul 2012). Thus, this social construction of the Muslim other has nurtured an assessment of the failure of multiculturalism in some European countries and a process of convergence around a single model of civic integration in Europe (Behloul 2012, Joppke 2004, 2010).

Estudi comparatiu de la gestió de la memòria en dues màquines virtuals

Aquest document presenta l'arquitectura de la màquina virtual Java (Java Virtual Machine, o JVM). Java és un llenguatge de programació cada vegada més extès i, per tant, més utilitzat. El seu àmbit d¿execució s¿estèn actualment per qualsevol plataforma, des de un dispositiu mòbil (telèfon, PDA...) com un mainframe (com per exemple, el model S/390 sota z/OS de IBM).

Evaluation of adherence, hemagglutination, and presence of genes codifying for virulence factors of Acinetobacter baumannii causing urinary tract infection

Acinetobacter baumannii is a strictly aerobic bacterium which causes severe infections, however its pathogenic characteristics are not well defined. Thirteen A. baumannii strains isolated from urine of hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients with different ages were investigated for the presence of virulence factors. The isolates belonged to biotypes 2, 6, and 9 and were sensitive to imipenem. The majority of them showed resistance to amikacin, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, norfloxacin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. None of A. baumannii strains presented genes codifying for 17 different virulence factors previously described in uropathogenic Escherichia coli, when tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Nine isolates agglutinated human group AB erythrocytes, in presence of mannose, but none of them agglutinated group O erythrocytes. Adherence to polystyrene was observed in 7 isolates, and this result did not correlate with that obtained in hemagglutination assay. All the isolates were able to grow in iron-limiting conditions, showing that A. baumannii produces some type of siderophore. However, the genes iutA and fyuA, from iron uptake system of E. coli and Yersinia sp., respectively, were not present in the isolates, suggesting the presence of a different type of siderophore. The fimbriae of A. baumannii strains that mediates the adherence are possibly mannose-resistant, eventhough the mechanism of adherence to human epithelial cells still remains to be elucidated.

CHANGE

CHANGE is a multi-faceted programme which seeks to transform the way lone parents think about food. The programme focuses on education, health and the affordability of healthy food for lone parents, as a particularly disadvantaged low-income group. The key activities include training programmes for lone parents and a community garden which engages the wider community. Espace public, médiations, reconnaissance : Eléments de reconstruction d'une théorie critique de la communication

Résumé en français Après un examen critique de la théorie des médias et de la culture développée par l'Ecole de Francfort, abordée ici principalement au travers des oeuvres de T.W. Adorno et de Jürgen Habeimas, ce travail en propose une reconstruction en s'inspirant de la théorie de la reconnaissance d'Axel Honneth. Envisagée sous un angle narratif, la communication publique est vue comme un processus engageant à la fois des relations de reconnaissance et leur négation sous la double forme de la réification et du mépris. La recherche développe une approche des médias sensible à ces tensions et conflits ainsi qu'aux luttes pour la reconnaissance qui travaillent la scène publique, y compris dans sa dimension esthétique. Title and abstract in english « Public sphere, mediations, recognition. Reconstruction elements of a critical theory of communication ». After a critical discussion of media and culture theory developped by the Frankfurt School presented here mainly through the works of T.W. Adorno and Jürgen Habermas, this research proposes to reconstruct it on the basis of the theory of recognition developed by Axel Honneth. Considered through the perspective of narrative, public communication in is seen as a process implying at the same time recognition relations and their negation through the double process of reification and disrespect. The research develops an approach of media which is attentive to those tensions and conflicts and to the struggles for recognition that forms public sphere, also in his aesthetic dimension.

Aquest projecte estudia el problema de l'extracció i la visualització de manera entenedora de la informació pública més rellevant d'una adreça IP, tot i que no aborda els problemes relacionats amb la informació insuficient perquè pertanyen a un àmbit de recerca diferent.
