Las dos versiones de la Cuarta Sinfonía de Robert Schumann : primer caso de revisión de una sinfonía por parte del propio compositor

La Cuarta Sinfonía de Robert Schumann ha sido una obra clave del repertorio orquestal desde su triunfal estreno en 1853, considerándose una de las mejores creaciones del compositor. Sin embargo no es conocido el hecho de que esta sinfonía es en realidad la revisión de una obra de juventud que se estrenó sin éxito diez años antes, siendo Johannes Brahms quien, a finales del siglo XIX, defendió la mayor calidad de la Primera versión intentando revivirla, encontrando la oposición de Clara Schumann. Por lo tanto intentaré en este Proyecto Final estudiar en profundidad las dos versiones, analizando sus diferencias y planteando una hipótesis del por qué de la revisión del autor, presentando ambas versiones en el concierto en el que culmina este estudio.

First report of Temnocephala brevicornis Monticelli 1889 (Temnocephalidae: Platyhelminthes) in Argentina

Temnocephala brevicornis Monticelli 1889, ectosymbiont of Hydromedusa tectifera Cope 1869, is reported for the first time for Argentina. Numerous temnocephalans from Arroyo Villoldo in the locality of Magdalena, Buenos Aires, Argentina were stained in toto to be studied. This commensal species in turtles was originally cited in association with Hydromedusa maximiliani (Mikan) and Hydraspis radiolata Mikan in Brazil. Afterwards, it was found on other fresh water turtle species in Brazil and Uruguay.

Nineteenth century research on cell death.

This paper reviews research on cell death in the 19th C. The first report of cell death was by Vogt in 1842, which was remarkably soon after the establishment of the cell theory by Schleiden and Schwann between 1838 and 1842. Initial studies on cell death, including that of Vogt, focused on its occurrence in metamorphosis (Vogt, 1842; Prévost and Lebert, 1844; Weismann, 1863-1866) or in blatant pathology (Virchow, 1858), but as histological techniques improved it was found to be involved in more subtle roles in numerous situations including endochondral ossification (Stieda, 1872), ovarian follicle atresia (Flemming, 1885), cell turnover (Nissen, 1886), the wholesale loss of a population of sensory neurons in fish (Beard, 1889), and the naturally occurring histogenetic death of myocytes (Felix, 1889) and neurons (Collin, 1906). The current categorization of cell death into about three main morphological types has 19th century roots in that apoptosis was well described by Flemming (1885), who called it chromatolysis, and various authors including Noetzel (1895) proposed a threefold classification.
