ASSISTÊNCIA DE SAÚDE ÀS MULHERES MUÇULMANAS NO BRASIL: UMA ANÁLISE DA RELAÇÃO ENTRE O SISTEMA RELIGIOSO ISLÂMICO E A POLÍTICA NACIONAL DE ATENÇÃO INTEGRAL À SAÚDE DA MULHER.

A presente dissertação tem por objetivo analisar os aspectos religiosos islâmicos e as implicações das relações de gênero no islam sobre a assistência de saúde às mulheres muçulmanas, e através disto, discutir a importância do conhecimento prévio do islamismo pelos profissionais de saúde para propor uma assistência de saúde congruente a estas mulheres, tendo por referência a Política Nacional de Atenção Integral à Saúde da Mulher. Esta pesquisa tem abordagem qualitativa, com o desenvolvimento de pesquisa de campo e aplicação de um roteiro de perguntas semi-estruturado, com questões relacionadas ao islamismo e à saúde das mulheres. Ao todo, foram entrevistadas dez pessoas, sendo estas: quatro mulheres revertidas ao islam, três mulheres de família muçulmana, dois sheiks e uma assistente social. As entrevistas foram realizadas no Centro de Divulgação do Islam para a América Latina e o Caribe (CDIAL) e na Assembléia Mundial da Juventude Islâmica na América Latina (WAMY).

A Framework for Conceptualizing Psychologically Healthy Contemplative Practice.

In recent years contemplative practices such as Zen Buddhism and yoga have become increasingly utilized in the United States (Mann et al., 2001). The most visible contemplative practice in America today is the practice of yoga. According to a 2008 market study conducted by Yoga Journal, yoga was a 5.6 billion dollar industry in America in 2008. This market study also found that 15.8 million people, or 6.9% of American adults, practice yoga (Yoga Market Study, 2008). Zen Buddhism may be less visible than yoga in popular culture, yet its presence in the United States is substantial. While exact statistics are difficult to come by, Harvard University's Pluralism Project cites that the number of practicing Buddhists in America ranges from 2.4 to 4 million people, although it is unclear how many of these individuals practice Zen, or contemplative Buddhism (Pluralism Project Statistics, 2009). The popularity of Zen in America is further evidenced by the presence of Zen centers in most major cities. The sizeable and growing presence of Buddhism in America indicates a move towards the inclusion of contemplative practice in the cultural mainstream (Pluralism Project Statistics, 2009).

Reinterpreting Coatlicue : the Sculptural Narrative of Defeat at the Shrine of Huitzilopochtli

However, monoliths of a terrifying, dismembered female from the shrine have traditionally been identified as Huitzilopochtli’s nurturing mother Coatlicue, or permutations of goddesses. Such studies do not adequately address why these sculptures depict mutilated beings whose characteristics are antithetical to Coatlicue’s appropriate female behavior depicted in myths and images"

Salud materna y perspectiva de género en el primer franquismo: la colección «Al servicio de España y del niño español»

Se presenta un análisis de las publicaciones de la colección «Al Servicio de España y del Niño Español», aparecidas entre 1938 y 1952 en relación con la salud maternal, el discurso de género, el trabajo femenino y las prácticas del cuidado de niños. La mayor preocupación del régimen franquista en este ámbito fue la política pronatalista y combatir los elevados índices de mortalidad infantil, de los que la ignorancia femenina se consideraba una de las principales causas. Las campañas de divulgación sanitaria estuvieron dirigidas a mejorar la capacitación de las mujeres en la denominada «ciencia materna», culpabilizándolas de esas muertes. La salud de la mujer preocupó porque de ella dependía la salud del niño. El discurso de género favoreció el modelo ideológico de mujer de la Sección Femenina de Falange, Auxilio Social y de la Iglesia Católica.

Popery a complex falsehood: or an attempt to clear and evidence, that it is so, in a lecture had at Harvard College in Cambridge, New England, on May 10th, 1769

The hand-sewn notebook contains a 30-page manuscript draft of the Dudleian lecture delivered by Samuel Mather on May 10, 1769 at Harvard College. The sermon begins with the Biblical text 2 Thess. 11:11, 12. The copy includes a small number of edits and struck-out words. The item has unattached pages and is in fragile condition. The lecture was never published.
