Lo agonal y lo ireneico en la filosofía

Resumen: La esencia de lo que debemos entender por filosofía se encuentra más del lado del quehacer, de la tarea, que del lado de “lo hecho”. Entre el sustantivo (filosofía) y el verbo (filosofar) hay una estrecha relación. Este trabajo se aboca, primeramente, a lo que está antes del quehacer, que se encuentra en la experiencia de ruptura. Luego se propone articular las dos grandes actitudes originarias que se abren a partir de ese momento, una más combativa (lo agonal) y la otra más pacifista (lo ireneico).

Comparing the sustainability of an innovative dry sanitation (Ecosan) system in China to a conventional waterborne sanitation system

The use of sustainability indicators for evaluating sanitation systems is applied to the Erdos Eco- Town Project (EETP) in China for illustration. The EETP is the largest urban settlement in the world employing ecological sanitation, which incorporates separation of waste streams, dry toilets, and resource recovery. The EETP’s dry sanitation system is compared against the Dongsheng District’s conventional sewer and centralised STP. The two systems are compared based on technological, environmental, economic, and societal indicators. Overall, the two systems perform reasonably well from a technological perspective. The conventional system performs significantly better than the dry system with regards to land and energy requirements, and global warming potential; it also performs better based on freshwater aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicity potentials, but by a smaller margin. The dry system has superior environmental performance based on water consumption, eutrophication potential, and nutrient and organic matter recovery. The dry system is a more costly system as it requires greater infrastructure and higher operational costs, and does not benefit from economies of scale. The waterborne system performs better based on the societal indicators largely because it is a well-established system.

The degree of predictability of earthquakes in several regions of China: statistical analysis of historical data

The stress release model, a stochastic version of the elastic-rebound theory, is applied to the historical earthquake data from three strong earthquake-prone regions of China, including North China, Southwest China, and the Taiwan seismic regions. The results show that the seismicity along a plate boundary (Taiwan) is more active than in intraplate regions (North and Southwest China). The degree of predictability or regularity of seismic events in these seismic regions, based on both the Akaike information criterion (AIC) and fitted sensitivity parameters, follows the order Taiwan, Southwest China, and North China, which is further identified by numerical simulations. Relación entre historia de la filosofía y filosofía teorética

Resumen: El presente artículo, después de trazar un resumen del recorrido de los modos de historiar la filosofía, enfoca el tema de la relación entre ambos aspectos: el de la filosofía teorética y el de la historia de la filosofía. Toma distancia crítica tanto de la concepción que independiza la historia de la filosofía de la labor de búsqueda de la verdad teorética, como de la identificación de ambas dimensiones, tesis que tomó forma sobre todo a partir de Hegel. Propone una aplicación de la hermenéutica en la lectura del pasado filosófico, para abrir nuevas cuestiones y horizontes de búsqueda en el mundo de la realidad y en las exigencias y desafíos de la propia época histórica. Dicha hermenéutica, a su vez, no se desliza hacia el relativismo, sino que confirma la perennidad de lo verdadero en su persistencia fecunda a lo largo del tiempo.

Resumen: Aunque de innegable utilidad, el énfasis cientificista en el estudio de la consciencia tal como lo ha desarrollado la filosofía de la mente contemporánea ha obnubilado otras perspectivas. Hoy resulta imperativo retrotraernos a ellas en el estudio de tesis sobre la consciencia. En aras de contribuir al debate actual, el presente trabajo se propone una interpretación de las tesis de Friedrich Nietzsche sobre la consciencia. Se analizarán, además, los presupuestos epistemológicos nietzscheanos involucrados en su crítica de la consciencia. Finalmente, se estudiará la interpretación de Paul Katsafanas sobre cómo debemos entender el concepto “consciencia” en Nietzsche

La filosofía de la liberación en la Argentina

Resumen: El artículo trata primero del surgimiento de la filosofía de la liberación en Argentina (1971); luego, de su caracterización, en cuanto su punto de partida y lugar hermenéutico es la opción preferencial por los pobres, en cuyo horizonte se replantean todos los grandes problemas filosóficos, desde América Latina, con vigencia universal. En tercer lugar se describen su historia y corrientes, dando especial relevancia a la histórico-cultural. Finalmente se habla de su vigencia actual, debida a la situación de los excluidos, la crisis del neoliberalismo excluyente, el nuevo mestizaje cultural de imaginarios en la sabiduría popular latinoamericana y la pertinencia del método interdisciplinar y anadialéctico

Studies on terrestrial interface processes in arid areas, China

In the present paper, we have elucidated the importance of energy and water cycling in arid areas to investigate global climate and local economics. Then, we were concerned with the physical arguments as how to stratify the soil, and the stability of the numerical scheme in the mathematical model for predicting temperature variation and water motion. Furthermore, we discuss the methods to estimate evaporation in arid areas. Numerical simulation of energy and water cycling at the Acsu Observatory, CAS, Xinjiang province and Shapuotou Observatory, CAS, Ningxia Province are conducted as case studies. The results show that the laws of terrestrial processes are rather typical in these arid areas. Planting drought-endurable trees can alleviate unfavourable conditions to a certain extent. A review of dynamic fracture mechanics in China

This paper summarizes the recent development of dynamic fracture in China. The review covers analytical and numerical results on elastodynamic crack fields in 3D and layered media; experimental and theoretical research on dynamic mechanical properties of rocks and advanced materials; transient effects on ideally plastic crack-tip fields when the inertia forces are not negligible.

The scientific project of the small satellite of china

The efforts involved in developing a small satellite for scientific purposes in China in recent years are introduced in the present paper. The project is arranged on a case to case principle depending upon requirements and financial support. The space technology of a satellite and rockets, which have been developed over a relatively longer period in China, have been transferred to the scientific research of small satellites for improvement of the quality requirements. The surplus payloads of the rocket and satellite are used as the payloads of the small satellite and scientific experiments at a low cost. As an example, the project of balloon satellites for atmospheric research was successfully completed in 1991. The experience of the project management is of great benefit for further organization and arrangement of other projects. Opportunities exist for surplus payloads to be used in the future, and a small satellite for magnetospheric research will be launched in 1993.
