L'educació des del punt de vista racional. El currículum conceptual i procediment evolutiu, els programes de desenvolupament intel·lectual

L’article centra, en primer lloc, el sentit del títol: l’educació que potencia la refl exió lògica i racional, suportada en el còrtex cerebral, i la situació educativa actual, que no té establert amb claredat un currículum educatiu específi c per a l’ensenyament obligatori sobre actituds, sociabilitat, valors, emocionabilitat i creativitat. D’altra banda, es propugnen programes de desenvolupament intellectual molt útils, molts dels quals se centren en el treball que suporta la part cortical del cervell: lògica i operacions mentals deductives, inductives… Per tant, tenim currículums centrats en aspectes racionals que, paradoxalment, requereixen programes transversals sobre aspectes també racionals i, a més, obliden aspectes emocionals i creatius. Finalment, es fan dues propostes-suggeriments: una revisió del currículum basada en les aportacions de les neurociències, i la focalització del currículum en el desenvolupament harmònic de la persona, centrat en quatre pilars: Saber, Fer, Estar i Innovar. Les recents lleis educatives, però, no ho contemplen.

Cultural events and tourist development in Catalonia (Spain)

From the point of view of local development cultural tourism events represent an opportunity since they are distributed homogeneously by the Catalan territory and are experiencing a vertiginous growth as a way to differentiate the existing supply. In our study a sample of 264 telephone surveys made to organizers of events in Catalonia has been compiled, with the purpose of characterizing the existing supply, thematic typologies, management models, commercialization inputs and economic impact. The results allow us to characterize events from the point of view of their tourist potential. Finally some recommendations are set out to develop future tourism policies based on events according to product differentiation, seasonality, competitiveness and creativity.

Extending Learning Objects by Means of Social Networking

Learning objects have been the promise of providing people with high quality learning resources. Initiatives such as MIT Open-CourseWare, MERLOT and others have shown the real possibilities of creating and sharing knowledge through Internet. Thousands of educational resources are available through learning object repositories. We indeed live in an age of content abundance, and content can be considered as infrastructure for building adaptive and personalized learning paths, promoting both formal and informal learning. Nevertheless, although most educational institutions are adopting a more open approach, publishing huge amounts of educational resources, the reality is that these resources are barely used in other educational contexts. This paradox can be partly explained by the dificulties in adapting such resources with respect to language, e-learning standards and specifications and, finally, granularity. Furthermore, if we want our learners to use and take advantage of learning object repositories, we need to provide them with additional services than just browsing and searching for resources. Social networks can be a first step towards creating an open social community of learning around a topic or a subject. In this paper we discuss and analyze the process of using a learning object repository and building a social network on the top of it, with respect to the information architecture needed to capture and store the interaction between learners and resources in form of learning object metadata.

Redefining dropping out in online higher education: a case study from the UOC

In recent years, studies into the reasons for dropping out of higher education (including online education) have been undertaken with greater regularity, parallel to the rise in the relative weight of this type of education, compared with brick-and-mortar education. However, the work invested in characterising the students who drop out of education, compared with those who do not, appears not to have had the same relevance as that invested in the analysis of the causes. The definition of dropping out is very sensitive to the context. In this article, we reach a purely empirical definition of student dropping out, based on the probability of not continuing a specific academic programme following several consecutive semesters of "theoretical break". Dropping out should be properly defined before analysing its causes, as well as comparing the drop-out rates between the different online programmes, or between online and on-campus ones. Our results show that there are significant differences among programmes, depending on their theoretical extension, but not their domain of knowledge.

Open Educational Resources: an opportunity for virtual learning institutions

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC, Open University of Catalonia) is involved inseveral research projects and educational activities related to the use of Open Educational Resources (OER). Some of the discussed issues in the concept of OER are research issues which are being tackled in two EC projects (OLCOS and SELF). Besides the research part, the UOC aims at developing a virtual centre for analysing and promoting the concept of OERin Europe in the sector of Higher and Further Education. The objectives are to makeinformation and learning services available to provide university management staff,eLearning support centres, faculty and learners with practical information required to create, share and re-use such interoperable digital content, tools and licensing schemes. In the realisation of these objectives, the main activities are the following: to provide organisationaland individual e-learning end-users with orientation; to develop perspectives and useful recommendations in the form of a medium-term Roadmap 2010 for OER in Higher and Further Education in Europe; to offer practical information and support services about how to create, share and re-use open educational content by means of tutorials, guidelines, best practices, and specimen of exemplary open e-learning content; to establish a larger group ofcommitted experts throughout Europe and other continents who not only share theirexpertise but also steer networking, workshops, and clustering efforts; and to foster and support a community of practice in open e-learning content know-how and experiences.

Experiencia de 10 años de innovación docente en la Unidad de Laboratorios Docentes (ULD) de la Facultad de Farmacia

[spa]En este trabajo se describe la experiencia de innovación docente desarrollada en la ULD a lo largo de los 10 años de existencia. Se comentan algunos de los indicadores del sistema de gestión de la calidad así como su evolución y los resultados más representativos obtenidos en su alimentación. El objetivo de este proyecto es introducir aspectos de la gestión de la calidad, seguridad, salud y medio ambiente en la formación de los estudiantes para que los apliquen a lo largo del desarrollo de las prácticas. De esta forma, podrán adquirir una formación transversal adicional que difícilmente le será transmitida a través de las diferentes asignaturas de la licenciatura y que mejorará sus competencias y facilitará su acceso al ámbito laboral. También se pretende contribuir en la mejora del funcionamiento y las infraestructuras de los laboratorios de prácticas de la facultad. [eng] In the following work it is summarized the innovative experience carried out by the ULD besides showing the results obtained from the different indicators that allow to evaluate the efficiency of the quality management system. The aim is to improve the management of the practical teaching by introducing aspects of quality management, safety, health and environment in the formation of the students. In such a way, they would be able to acquire a transverse additional formation that difficultly would be transmitted across the different subjects of the degree and that would improve their competitions when acceding to the working world.

Estudis sobre l'equitat de gènere en el context de l'educació infantil

La preocupació, com a docents universitaris i professionals de l’educació, per la manca de representació masculina en l’Educació Infantil, ha determinat que el nostre grup de recerca, centrat en estudis sobre la infància, es plantegés la realització de diferents estudis descriptius sobre l’equitat de gènere en aquesta etapa educativa. El primer estudi està centrat en l’home com a professional de l’Educació Infantil, com a estudiant i com a professio· nal en actiu. El segon estudi està centrat en l’avaluació de l’equitat de gènere en la pràctica educativa a l’escola, a Catalunya. I finalment, el tercer estudi, focalitza la seva mirada en el context cultural, portant a terme un estu· di paral·lel entre les realitats educatives de Catalunya i La Paz (Bolívia). Els resultats, malgrat que es detecten petits avenços en la presència del valor de l’equitat de gènere en els centres educatius, confirmen les dificultats, existents encara, per realitzar pràctiques de qualitat que puguin incidir vers un canvi social. Considerem que aquest canvi només s’aconseguirà quan es plantegi seriosament la necessitat d’aquest valor social i es treballi no solament des de l’escola, sinó també des de dinàmiques laborals, mediàtiques, familiars i socials. Aquest article recull les reflexiones que deriven de les tres recerques esmentades.

Problemática de género en los altos cargos empresariales

Aquest treball pretén detectar i aflorar les dificultats que afecten a les dones treballadores per accedir a llocs d'alta direcció. Tot i estar al segle XXI, aquests llocs segueixen estant, en un percentatge molt alt, en mans d'homes. Es compara la societat espanyola davant de la mundial. S'afegeix una avaluació d'enquestes efectuades al col·lectiu femení que desenvolupa el seu treball en alts càrrecs d'empreses. Per evitar aquests problemes, s'aporten diverses solucions i mesures que podrien adoptar tant per part de les dones com per les empreses i Administracions. En concret, són dues les mesures exposades: Discriminatòries positives i Conciliació de la vida laboral i personal. A la primera mesura, es comentarà la Llei d'Igualtat (cas de NH Hoteles) i la Llei de Quotes. I en la segona, s'exposen les dificultats que hi ha a les empreses espanyoles.

Formación universitaria en información y documentación: 2010, el complejo despertar a un escenario abierto

La Declaración de Bolonia de 1999 puso en marcha un proceso de cambio en el panorama de la formación universitaria, que está a punto de culminar. La puesta en marcha del Grado en Información y Documentación, el aumento y diversificación en la oferta de posgrados, los sistemas de garantía de la calidad y la visibilidad de los nuevos perfiles profesionales de nuestro ámbito son algunos de los aspectos más destacables del nuevo marco de la formación universitaria. El proceso ha supuesto una oportunidad para avanzar en la adaptación a la sociedad digital y en red que ya hace tiempo se planteaba nuestra disciplina. Revisión curricular, colaboración y cooperación, formación para la innovación, metodologías docentes centradas en el alumno e implantación del e-learning parecen ser los temas más presentes en las agendas de los docentes del campo de la información y documentación.

Innovar, renovar, avaluar

[eng] The new educational context in which we are involved and the facilities of the TIC (Communication Information Technologies) have led to the necessary modification of didactic approach that during years has been used for Pharmaceutical Technology teaching. However, changes/updating and innovation require a simultaneous reflection in order to avoid excessive dispersion of the approach and to channel adequately the pedagogic and didactic effort. On the other hand, it is necessary to evaluate the above initiatives to determinate if these one are on the right track. The Pharmaceutical Technology Teaching Innovation Group of the University of Barcelona has been formed and consolidated in this point of view. In this work, a review of studies carried on by the group, in the exposed purposes, from the beginning of their activities is presented. [spa] El nuevo contexto docente en el que estamos inmersos así como las posibilidades de las TIC (Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación) han conllevado la necesaria modificación de los planteamientos didácticos que durante años han servido de base para las enseñanzas de la Tecnología Farmacéutica. Sin embargo, la renovación/actualización e innovación precisan de una simultánea reflexión a fin de evitar una excesiva dispersión del enfoque y para encauzar adecuadamente el esfuerzo pedagógico y didáctico. Por otra parte, es necesario evaluar dichas iniciativas para determinar si están bien encaminadas. El Grupo de Innovación Docente de Tecnología Farmacéutica de la Universidad de Barcelona se ha creado y consolidado desde esta óptica. En este trabajo se presentan un conjunto de estudios que el grupo ha llevado a cabo, con los fines expuestos, desde el comienzo de sus actividades.
