A esfera da percepção: considerações sobre o conto de Julio Cortázar

Roxana Guadalupe Herrera Alvarez procura discutir nesta obra o processo de criação artística a partir das questões relativas ao conceito de realidade, desenvolvidas pelo pensador suíço Jean Piaget. A autora destoa, porém, da abordagem mais generalista de Howard Gardner - o primeiro a aplicar Piaget nos estudos sobre a criação artística e de quem se declara seguidora neste trabalho. Aqui ela utiliza a função simbólica piagetiana para analisar especificamente a obra do contista e romancista argentino Julio Cortázar (1914-84). Para a pesquisadora, Cortázar é um excelente ancoradouro para essa proposta: o escritor se revela como um criador de mundos, ao romper com os moldes literários clássicos, especialmente do conto, por meio de narrativas que desafiam a linearidade temporal e onde os personagens adquirem autonomia e profundidade psicológica inédita, inclusive negando o mundo como um lugar absoluto, conhecido e seguro. A produção do autor argentino também é fértil em reflexões constantes sobre o ato criador, o que permite à autora estabelecer, por esta via de mão dupla na obra cortazariana, uma relação profícua entre a criação de uma obra artística e os primórdios da consciência do artista que a criou.

Seleção de características morfofuncionais de cavalos da raça Mangalarga Marchador por meio da análise de componentes principais

Records from 14,288 animals of the Mangalarga Marchador breed, born from 1990 to 2005, were used to discard morphofunctional traits in a principal component analysis. The following traits were used: height at withers, height at croup, lengths of head, neck, back, croup, hip length and body, widths of head, hip width, thorax perimeter, cannon bone circumference and gait score. For the traits considered it was observed that 7 principal components showed variation lower than 0.7; suggesting that seven variables could be discarded. The reason is that when variable are highly correlated with the principal components of smaller variance, their variation is practically insignificant. Based on those results the recommendation is to maintain the following traits for future research with this database: gait score, height at croup, length of back, length of croup, width of head and cannon bone circumference.

Cinética do VO2 durante o exercício realizado na potência crítica em ciclistas e indivíduos não-treinados no ciclismo

The objective was to analyze the oxygen uptake (VO2) kinetics during exercise performed at critical power (CP) in subjects with different aerobic status in cycling. Six trained cyclists (GT) and seven non-trained subjects (GNT) underwent to the following protocols in cyclergometer: (a) incremental to exhaustion to determine VO2max and its respective workload (IVO(2)max); b) three square-wave tests to exhaustion at 95-110% IVO2max to determine CP, and; (c) one square-wave test to exhaustion at 100% CP. During the exercise at CP the slow component expressed as absolute value (GT: 342.4 +/- 165.8 ml.min(-1) vs. GNT: 571.3 +/- 170.1 ml.min(-1)) and as the relative contribution to the increase of VO2 during exercise (GT: 10.0 +/- 4.6% vs. GNT: 26.6 +/- 7.3%) were lower for trained subjects. The VO2 at the end of the exercise at PC (GT: 89.8 +/- 8.4% VO(2)max vs. GNT: 97.4 +/- 2.8% VO(2)max) was significantly lower in GT (rho = 0.045), and similar to VO(2)max in GNT. Therefore, the aerobic level might influence the VO2 responses to exercise at PC

A materailidade no caminho da efetivação do Espírito na Filosofia de Hegel

Hegel’s identification with idealism may not apprehend adequately his philosophical thinking if one takes it as a definitive and absolute determination because he is a dialectical thinker or even better speculative. In this sense the moment of materiality cannot be just put aside as a contingency but it is more the opposition through which the spirit fulfills itself. This one cannot be what it is without assuming the materiality as well as the matter cannot be effective without being overtaken in the spirit. The totality appointed by Hegel in the absolute spirit means precisely to know and to recognize one another in the other and also by the other as itself. The spirit only raises to itself insofar it assumes its opposition in matter and by being determined it determines itself but this cannot be fulfilled anywhere but in the matter. In the same way the matter cannot be effective without going beyond itself or being considered in thought, that is not as well establishing itself. If the spirit and the matter are effective insofar they are in relation with one another then the primacy of one over the other can only be understood as a result and not as a starting point. In this way the first moment must not be taken as something static but as coming to be.

A filosofia do direito no sistema filosófico hegeliano

The Hegelian philosophy is presented as a progress in relation to other philosophies and it offers to take in itself all the other demonstrations. Thereby, Hegel intends to carry out his philosophical effort towards the establishment of a philosophical system. It is a comprehension recognized and exposed by Hegel in his doctoral thesis, i.e., that philosophy only becomes possible as a system. In this sense, the treatment dispensed to each one of his works necessarily evokes a relationship with all other. An work taken in isolation gets the feeling that something else should be presented, however, every work written by Hegel also contemplates a relation with his other works. In this sense, the objective here is to considerate Hegel’s Philosophy of Law in his philosophical system seeking to explicit its specific place, as well as its transit among the works of the thinker as a whole. The Philosophy of Law finds its particular moment in the ambit of the objective spirit or during the subjective spirit’s effectuation. However, it is assumed here the perspective that the Philosophy of Law represents, as the objective spirit does, a moment of mediation as well as a there-being whereby the absolute spirit’s effectuation would happen. Furthermore, Hegel’s Philosophy represents the presentation of what he considers as extremely important in philosophy, that is precisely, the need to sublate the separation between man and the world. It is not enough for Hegel, the affirmation of the being and the thinking in itself, but it is required to confirm them in their being other that will be evinced being itself. Thus, Philosophy is given as a reconstruction or as the factual knowledge as a science ceasing to be so only love of learning. This means in other words that philosophy deals with the world, in the world and for the world being much more than a speech to the world to be the talk of the world itself. If philosophy is the owl of Minerva who always arrives late, she does it for the reasons of the other to be recognized.

Efeitos do antidepressivo cloridrato de fluoxetina na integridade histológica dos túbulos seminíferos de ratos adultos

A fluoxetina, pertencente à classe dos inibidores da recaptação seletiva de serotonina, é um dos antidepressivos mais amplamente prescritos para o tratamento da depressão e de transtornos da ansiedade, como o transtorno obsessivo compulsivo. Considerando que, dentre os efeitos colaterais causados pela fluoxetina, têm sido relatados distúrbios na função sexual masculina, foi proposto avaliar a ação deste fármaco sobre a integridade morfológica dos túbulos seminíferos. Foram utilizados 16 ratos adultos, distribuídos em 2 grupos: grupo fluoxetina (GF) e grupo controle (GC). Os animais do GF receberam injeções intraperitoneais de fluoxetina (20mg/Kg) e os animais do GC receberam água destilada. O tratamento se estendeu por 11 dias consecutivos e, ao final do tratamento, foram obtidos os pesos corpóreo e testicular dos animais. Os testículos foram fixados e processados para inclusão em historesina e parafina. Nos cortes de historesina, as frequências de túbulos de acordo com o estágio do ciclo do epitélio seminífero e de túbulos seminíferos contendo células descamadas preenchendo a luz tubular foram obtidas, bem como os seguintes parâmetros morfométricos: área tubular total, área da luz tubular e área do epitélio seminífero. Os cortes em parafina foram submetidos ao método do TUNEL para detecção de morte celular. Os níveis séricos de testosterona também foram avaliados. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise estatística para avaliação das diferenças entre os grupos. O tratamento com fluoxetina causou redução significante do peso corpóreo dos animais e redução, embora não significante, do peso testicular absoluto. Além disso, uma redução significante nos níveis séricos de testosterona foi observada nos animais do GF. Avaliação de gastrocitoproteção, mecanismo de ação e comparação do efeito da vitamina E (α-Tocoferol) nas formas natural e sintética

The aim of this study was to verify if α-tocopherol, the main substance of Vitamin E and also the one with the major antioxidant propriety, could offer citoprotection to a stomach damaged by alcohol. There are many forms of α-tocopherol, two forms of them were evaluated; d-l-α-tocopherol, the synthetic form and d-α-tocopherol, the natural form of α-tocopherol. Three experiments were made, all of them having absolute ethanol as the lesion agent, but the period and the doses changed in each of them. In the first two experiments, each group of animals received a different form of α-tocopherol and in the third experiment, they’ve received α-tocopherol p.o. for the period of seven days before the lesion agent was administrated. Moreover, immunohistochemistry assays were made from the stomachs samples of the third experiment to verify possible mechanisms involving nitric oxide and 2-cyclooxygenase. Satisfactory results of citoprotection have been obtained when the two forms were administered in the period of one week at doses of 100 mg/kg for synthetic form and 150 mg/kg for natural type. Nevertheless, the two forms didn’t differ statistically in their effectiveness against ethanol. The immunohistochemistry assays showed an increase of the levels of NO and COX2 in relation with the negative control, although there was no correlation between this increase and the gastroprotective effect. In conclusion, α-tocopherol has gastroprotection effect in some doses, but apparently there is no such a thing like the better the dose, the better the effect; that citoprotection don’t have a relationship with NO neither with COX2; the natural and the synthetic form don’t differ in their gastroprotection effect. More studies must be done looking forward an effective dose and also to understand the mechanisms underlay the citoprotection of α-tocopherol in the stomach

Estudo de um ciclo de vapor utilizado para tratamento de superificies metálicas: estudo preliminar de caso

The use of heat in parallel with relative low temperatures and applied to several areas of the industry is essential for the main manufacturing processes, like drying, dehydrating, concentration, annealing, production of chemical reactions, and microbiological sterilization. Without neither the heat nor the coming of a great quantity of thermal heat, with high quality, there would not be the “modern society”, with its high standards of living plus its high consumption levels; from services to goods in general. Within an almost absolute way, the heat flows are obtained from vapor systems. Thus, in this work we are going into the operation of a vapor system, composed of two firetube boilers dimensioned to supply vapor for three processes. However, with the transfer of one of the processes to another plant, the system got over-dimensioned. But, taking advantage of this scenario, the two boilers were used to supply vapor to further processes, causing their intermittent usage. Moreover, the operational alternative adopted by the maintenance engineering of the plant for a creating a solution has been presented; both the positive points and negative ones were disclosed, likewise the possibility of improvement points

Estudo químico e avaliação da atividade antioxidante e antimicrobiana dos escapos de Syngonanthus nitens (bong.) Ruhland. (Eriocaulaceae)

Neste trabalho é apresentado o estudo químico dos escapos de Syngonanthus nitens (Bong.) Ruhland, pertencente à família Eriocaulaceae. O extrato metanólico foi preparado por percolação, concentrado e fracionado em coluna de permeação em gel. As frações obtidas foram analisadas por CCDC e purificadas por HSCCC, HPLC-RI e HPLC-PDA. As estruturas foram determinadas usando ultravioleta, técnicas mono e bidimensionais de RMN e espectrometria de massas com fonte electrospray e analisador íon trap (modo de inserção direta). O perfil cromatográfico de HPLC-PDA mostrou que as flavonas derivadas da luteolina são os seus principais constituintes químicos. Foram isoladas as substâncias: 7-metoxiluteolina-8-C-β-D-glicopiranosídeo (SN1), 7-metoxiluteolina-6-C-β-D-glicopiranosídeo (SN2), 3',7-dimetoxiluteolina-6-C-β-D-glicopiranosídeo (SN3), luteolina (SN4), 6-hidroxiluteolina (SN5), luteolina-6-C--D-glicopiranosídeo (Sn6), 6-hidroxiluteolina-7-O--D-galactopiranosideo (Sn7) e 7-metoxiluteolina-6-C- β-D-glicopiranosideo-(3'-O-3''')-7ʹ-metoxiluteolina-8'-C-β-D-glicopiranosídeo (Sn8). Foram avaliadas as atividades antioxidantes do extrato metanólico dos escapos de S. nitens e do biflavonóide identificado, os quais apresentaram atividade significativa quando comparada com os padrões do ácido gálico, rutina e quercetina . A atividade antimicrobiana do extrato metanólico dos escapos e das substâncias identificadas derivadas da luteolina foram também avaliadas. O extrato metanólico dos escapos apresentou melhor atividade antimicrobiana, quando comparada com os demais flavonoides isolados e identificados do mesmo extrato. Finalmente, foi avaliada a atividade antiulcerogênica do extrato metanolico dos escapos, utilizando-se o modelo de lesão ulcerativa induzida por etanol absoluto
