H.A.S. Dearborn letter - May 29, 1812

Letter transcription: Dear Sir, My success in the line of recruiting has exceeded my most sanguine expectations. I have enlisted 24 1st Lt. 30—my 2nd Lt. 13, and my Ensign 9— Total 76. All very [ablebodied] men. In all probability my company will be full before the last day of June. I shall be in Boston on the 10th of June. I have not yet had the pleasure to hear of the arrival of your father at Boston. Please to offer my respects to your family, and to all my friends in the [office]. In haste, Yours, A.M. Clary.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 29 & 30 January 1918

In this letter Eleanore Celeste talks about attending Church, magazines and her interest in education. She states "the more I learn, the thirstier I am for knowledge." The second letter mentions the Philips estate turning into a seniors facility for women after much talk about it possibly turning into a hospital for wounded officers. This letter is labelled number 50.

The letter describes Eleanore's time at home as she spends her days golfing, boating, playing tennis etc. She writes this letter in a barn for privacy from her two sisters. She is writing from Framingham Massachusetts.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 29 September 1918

Eleanore Celeste mentions that she is ill in bed. A doctor diagnosis tonsillitis and she is feeling better and can go back to school. The letter is labelled number 168.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 29 November 1919

She mentions a visit to Arthur Schmon's parents. She then goes on to describe the rest of her outings for the day. This letter is labelled number 60.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 29 December 1917

Eleanore Celeste describes her previous day: Studies, shopping for Mother, bridge party, out with girls and Uncle Dick. They attended the play "pearls" starring Robert Edison. The rest of the letter is written on New Year's Eve at twelve o'clock. She recounts last New Year's Eve.

Eleanore Celeste mentions that to be a substitute teacher in Newark one must have a "normal school diploma or a certificate for those exams". She mentions that many people she knows "are being turned down right and left by the Board". The letter is labelled number 252.

Eleanore Celeste has just received twenty five letters from Arthur. She writes about travelling with Arthur one day, but also mentions the cost. She mentions the idea of continuing her substitution work after they are married. The letter is labelled number 221.

Letter - E.C. Schmon to Arthur A. Schmon, 29 April 1919

Eleanore Celested mentions that men have been returning from duty, but Arthur appears to be sad in a photo he has sent her. She writes a loving message to lift his spirits until he returns home. She signs the letter "Wifie to be". The letter is labelled number 268.

Brown sediment with clasts that range from small to large. The clast shape ranges from angular to sub-rounded. The sample is abundant in necking and rotation structures. Minor edge-to-edge grain crushing can also be seen.
