Representações da imigração na Argentina : Discursos e debates na configuração do Museo Hotel de Inmigrantes

En un primer momento, el texto estudia algunas de las influencias que permitieron la creación de un museo de la inmigración en la sede de la Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, ubicada en el complejo del antiguo Hotel de Inmigrantes de Buenos Aires, así como los discursos del Ministerio del Interior/DNM en este emprendimiento. A continuación, investigaremos cómo la historia de la inmigración es representada por el Museo del Inmigrante, a partir de un análisis inicial de su exposición de larga duración, armada desde 2001. Si una renovación en la historiografía de la inmigración en las últimas décadas empezó a cuestionar el éxito del proceso inmigratorio, relativizando la tesis del "crisol de razas" en la Argentina, veremos cómo, contrariamente, la exposición vehiculada por el Museo del Inmigrante acaba por reproducir una imagen idílica del pasado de la inmigración en el país

Pitting Corrosion in Austenitic Stainless Steel Water Tanks of Hotel Trains

The water storage tanks of hotel trains suffered pitting corrosion. To identify the cause, the tanks were subjected to a detailed metallographic study and the chemical composition of the austenitic stainless steels used in their construction was determined. Both the tank water and the corrosion products were further examined by physicochemical and microbiological testing. Corrosion was shown to be related to an incompatibility between the chloride content of the water and the base and filler metals of the tanks. These findings formed the basis of recommendations aimed at the prevention and control of corrosion in such tanks. Se han detectado problemas de corrosión por picaduras en los depósitos de agua de trenes hotel. Para identificar las causas se llevó a cabo un detallado estudio metalográfico así como de la composición química de los aceros inoxidables austeníticos utilizados en su construcción. También se realizaron estudios fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos de los productos de corrosión. Se ha encontrado que los problemas de corrosión están relacionados con la incompatibilidad entre el contenido en cloruros del agua y los metales base y de aporte de la soldadura de los tanques. En base a estos hallazgos se proponen una serie de recomendaciones encaminadas a la prevención y control de la corrosión de dichos depósitos.

Perception of employers and employees regarding the attitude of businesses toward the environment: a qualitative analysis

Commitment and involvement from the different members of an organization are two key elements for an organization to achieve its environmental excellence. Firstly, businesses are aware of the close relationship between their activities and the environment, for they are not only polluting agents but also agents with the capacity to reduce adverse environmental impacts. Secondly, the fact that employees can play a relevant role in terms of the socially responsible measures to be taken by organizations has started to become an irrefutably important issue. This piece of research is intended to help gain knowledge concerning the attitude of the two main actors in productive activity toward the environmental, that is, employers and employees; as well, this research intends to identify factors determining behaviour towards the environmental. For this, we have gathered the ideas and assessments contained in the discourse of a group of small and medium-sized businesses, large company owners and officers, employees, and work related risk prevention representatives. Qualitative work consisted of in-depth interviews and the creation of discussion groups.
