The objective of this study was to assess if the positioning of the impression tray could cause plaster casts distortion during gypsum setting time. fifteen pairs of master models were cast with alginate impression material and immediately poured with gypsum. impressions were allowed to set with the tray in the not inverted position (group a) or in the inverted position (group b). the plaster models were digitized using a laser scanner (3shape r-700, 3shape a/s). tooth size measurements and distances were obtained using o3d software (widialabs, brasil) measurement tools. data were analyzed by paired t test and linear regression with 5% significance. most measurements of both groups were similar, except for the lower intermolar distance. it was not possible to corroborate the presence of distortions owing to the position of the impression tray during gypsum setting time.

The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro the apical leakage after the apical re-preparation and replacement of the principal gutta-percha point plus endodontic sealer (Sealer 26TM). Sixty extracted human canines were prepared by using a step back technique up to size 50 K type file apically. At each change of instrument the canals were irrigated with distilled water. After that step, the external surface roots were coated and subdivided into six groups with ten roots each: I – single gutta percha point technique; II – lateral condensation and III – hybrid technique. The IV, V and VI groups were similar to others groups but after to place the principal gutta percha point, it was removed, re-prepared up to size 60K file and in sequence replaced the principal gutta percha point and the root canal filling finished. The specimens were immersed in 2% Rhodamine BTM for 7 days at 37 oC. The apical leakage was measured by Image ToolsTM program. With Kruskal Wallis test statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference between the techniques (p > 0.05).

It presented the main features so that the wax plan can be conveniently filling the aesthetic and functional requirement of a denture. The steps of face bow mounting and wax plan transfer form the mouth to the articulator, considering the necessary requirement for this purpose are shown. This sequence aims to instruct and warn those who work with dentures about the needs of using face bows for correct reproduction of the models positioning in the articulator

This research aimed to the comparison between two methods for obtaining three-dimensional coordinates of the controls of the upper limbs of the job of the tractor operator. The methods used were based on NBR / NM / ISO 5353 - Road machines, tractors and agricultural and forestry machinery – Reference point of the seat. The first method used follows the principles recommended by the standard NBR/NM/ISO/5353 The second method is an adaptation of this standard with the introduction of a laser measuring equipment developed by Silva (2009). The results were compared statistically to evaluate differences between the methodological processes involved. In this research, data was collected thought a brand new tractor Massey Ferguson model MF 292, awarded by the dealership from Londrina. The results have shown a considerable variation between the traditional measurement process and the laser measuring. It must be considered that this variation can be used to calibrate the tractor controls positioning, therefore the tractor is not in accordance to ABNT.

Origami folds and kirigami cuts merged in an oriental technique called Origamic Architecture (or 3D kirigami) that has intrinsic relationships with geometry as well as these paper arts. Despite its potential, it is not very used as a didactic resource because of the lack of parameters in its construction. There are many studies about programs development and computational language to help the design of pop-up structures, as origamic architecture is also known. However, there are few studies concerning the study of positioning the lines and creases, which is essential in the process of creating a 3D kirigami design, especially in the development of spatial perception of the figure. Limited to the 90o open type models, this article is about the establishment of some initial guidelines for design of an origamic architecture through visual elements as point, line and shape. It is presented some basic models to illustrate the constructive parameters detected as well as some models elaborated by the author, showing the viability of the guidelines established.

This paper presents a study to determine the optimal support positions in bridges, as well as the optimal relation between the spans of beams, aiming both the reduction and the unifirmization of the efforts in these structures. The mathematical problem is formulated in order to minimize the maximum bending moments, taking the coordinate of each internal support as design variable. To take into account possible location limitations, size constraints are also considered in the formulation. The software developed based on this study determines the efforts in each support for load shifting along the structure by the usage of the Displacement Method, and the optimization is performed with a mathematical programming technique. The structures analyzed from the computational implementation of the idealized model point to the validation and efficiency of the proposed procedure.
