Los comportamientos desviados de los estudiantes a lo largo de su formación académica son más frecuentes de lo que se cree. Sin embargo, detrás del simple hecho de infringir una norma establecida por alguna Institución Educativa, hay una serie de construcciones sociales que se gestan alrededor de esta situación, y sobre esto es importante ahondar. En efecto, el enfoque del presente estudio es encontrar la postura y tolerancia que tienen los estudiantes de dos Facultades diferentes frente al fraude académico y tratar de encontrar las posibles causas a esa tolerancia ante las acciones desviadas. Además, se hará un énfasis especial en la Facultad de Administración, dado la importancia y relevancia que tienen los egresados de este programa académico en el desarrollo económico de un país.

Fundamentação: Considerando a prevalência da depressão em pessoas idosas, torna-se importante conhecer mais sobre as manifestações de sintomas depressivos nessa fase da vida. Objetivo: Este estudo se propôs a verificar possíveis relações entre medidas de sintomas depressivos, considerando as variáveis sexo e idade em idosos. Método: Fizeram parte do estudo 183 idosos, divididos em dois grupos, G1 - asilares, e G2- nãoasilares praticantes de atividades físicas. Após eliminar os participantes com indicador de demência por meio do Exame Mental Mini-Mental- MMSE e outros critérios de inclusão da amostra, restaram 69 participantes, nos quais foram aplicadas a Escala de Depressão Geriátrica – GDS e a Escala Baptista de Depressão em Idosos - EBADEP -I. Resultados: Os resultados demonstraram um índice de correlação excelente entre as duas medidas e pouca variação quando controlados sexo e idade. Na amostra pesquisada os homens apresentaram escores maiores nas duas medidas, bem como os idosos asilados e os acima de 75 anos.

A study was done to establish work practices and preventive measures for nurses handling antineoplasticdrugs (AND) and to determine the risk of developing AND-related symptoms. A descriptive cross sectional study was made. Workers from 5 health centers in Valencia, Venezuela, were selected. Demography, occupational and clinical history, shift, work practices, safety precautions, antineoplastic drugs used, residues disposal and life styles were obtained via a questionnaire. Most prevalent symptoms were adjusted for age, shift, and smoking. Age was significant for cough and dizziness; smoking was significant for abdomipo seleccionado de trabajadores que manejan FAN en cinco centros de salud de la ciudad de Valencia, Venezuela, con el propósito de evaluar de forma preliminar su riesgo potencial de desarrollar signos-síntomas derivados de este oficio; a su vez, establecer si existe la necesidad de continuar con una evaluación más profunda que permita hacer recomendaciones concluyentes para evitar sus efectos adversos. Metodología La población estuvo constituida por el personal de las unidades de oncología de cinco centros de salud de la ciudad de Valencia, Venezuela. La muestra la conformaron veinte trabajadores que pertenecen a dichos centros. La participación fue voluntaria y mediante firma de una carta de consentimiento. Recolección de datos Se realizó una entrevista a cada participante con información que hizo referencia a datos demográficos, historia ocupacional, turnos de trabajo, entrenamiento en medidas de seguridad para el manejo de este tipo de fármacos, actividades que realizan, uso de equipos de protección personal (EPP), sitio de manipulación de nal pain and shift was significant for nausea and cough. Nauseas were the most prevalent symptom (55%). Dizziness was directly associated with use of gowns and inversely half-face respirator. None of the studied centers had satisfactory working conditions. A follow up study should be made including physical exam and environmental and biological monitoring.

Objective: to evaluate, with a preliminary study, the distribution of circadian rhythms, sleep schedule patterns and their relationship with academic performance on medical students. Methodology: in this descriptive study, a 10 item original questionnaire about sleep rhythms and academic performance was applied to medical students from different semesters. Week (class time) and weekend schedules, preferences, daytime somnolence and academic performance were asked. Three chronotypes (morningness, intermediate and eveningness) were defined among waking-sleeping preference, difficulty to sleep early, exam preparation preference hour and real sleep schedule. The sleep hour deficit per week night was also calculated. Results: Of the 318 medical students that answered the questionnaire, 62.6% corresponded to intermediate chronotypes, 8.8% to evening-type and 28.7% to morning-type. Significant difference was found among the two chronotype tails (p=0.000, Chi-square 31.13). No correlation was found between academic performance and age, sex, chronotype, week sleep deficit and sleep hours in week and weekends. A 71.1% of the students slept 6 or fewer hours during class time and 78% had a sleep deficit (more frequent in the evening chronotype). Conclusions: No relation was found between sleep chronotype and academic performance. Students tend to morningness. Few studies have been made on equatorial zones or without seasons

Paciente de sexo femenino, de 59 años, educadora; llevada a institución hospitalaria por alteración súbita del estado de conciencia. Antecedente de hipotiroidismo en manejo con levotiroxina, 50 microgramos al día. Al examen físico de ingreso se encontraba en mal estado general, FC: 88 x min., TA 170/110, FR: 8 x min., temp.: 35 Cº, Glasgow: 6/15; estuporosa, con apertura ocular al estímulo doloroso, sin respuesta verbal, movimiento de retirada en hemicuerpo izquierdo al estímulo doloroso. Plejia de miembro superior derecho, paresia 2/5 en miembro inferior derecho y Babinski bilateral. Las imágenes diagnósticas confirmaron evento cerebrovascular tipo hemorragia intraparenquimatosa, de extensión parietotemporal e insular del hemisferio cerebral izquierdo. Se le realizó cirugía de drenaje de hematoma intraparenquimatoso e intraventricular, sin complicaciones. En el primer día postoperatorio la paciente cursó con hipokalemia, que persistió a pesar de reposición de potasio y presentó acidemia metabólica sin causa aparente que empeoró a pesar de manejo médico.
