Spatial Data Infrastructures have become a methodological and technological benchmark enabling distributed access to historical-cartographic archives. However, it is essential to offer enhanced virtual tools that imitate the current processes and methodologies that are carried out by librarians, historians and academics in the existing map libraries around the world. These virtual processes must be supported by a generic framework for managing, querying, and accessing distributed georeferenced resources and other content types such as scientific data or information. The authors have designed and developed support tools to provide enriched browsing, measurement and geometrical analysis capabilities, and dynamical querying methods, based on SDI foundations. The DIGMAP engine and the IBERCARTO collection enable access to georeferenced historical-cartographical archives. Based on lessons learned from the CartoVIRTUAL and DynCoopNet projects, a generic service architecture scheme is proposed. This way, it is possible to achieve the integration of virtual map rooms and SDI technologies bringing support to researchers within the historical and social domains.

This work presents results for the three-dimensional displacement field at Tenerife Island calculated from campaign GPS and ascending and descending ENVISAT DInSAR interferograms. The goal of this work is to provide an example of the flexibility of the technique by fusing together new varieties of geodetic data, and to observe surface deformations and study precursors of potential activity in volcanic regions. Interferometric processing of ENVISAT data was performed with GAMMA software. All possible combinations were used to create interferograms and then stacking was used to increase signal-to-noise ratio. Decorrelated areas were widely observed, particularly for interferograms with large perpendicular baseline and large time span. Tropospheric signal was also observed which significantly complicated the interpretation. Subsidence signal was observed in the NW part of the island and around Mount Teide and agreed in some regions with campaign GPS data. It is expected that the technique will provide better results when more high quality DInSAR and GPS data is available

Se muestra en este artículo el trabajo realizado durante las pruebas de carga de puesta en servicio del Nuevo Puente de Ventas sobre la M-30 de Madrid, con el fin de determinar los desplazamientos producidos mediante la aplicación de técnicas GPS, así como la discusión de precisiones obtenidas y posibilidades que encierra este tipo de sistemas de instrumentación de deformaciones en obra civil.

The Instituto Geográfico Nacional de España, thought its geodesy department, since 1997 has carried out the establisment of a GPS Reference Station Network (ERGPS) delivered all around Spain which allows millimetric co-ordinate results, as well as velocity fields in a Global Reference System (ITRFxx). It serves as support for other geodetic networks. Some of these stations are being integrated into the EUREF (EUropean REference Frame) Permanent Station Network. El Instituto Geográfico Nacional, por medio del Área de Geodesia, está llevando a cabo el establecimiento de una Red de Estaciones Permanentes GPS que permitan obtener coordenadas muy precisas, así como sus campos de velocidades en un Sistema de Referencia Global (ITRFxx). Dichas estaciones pertenencen a la Red de Estaciones Permanentes de EUREF (EUropean REference Framen) y constituyen el órden cero de la Geodesia Española.

Daily life in urban centers has led to increasing and more demanding freight requirements. Manufacturers, retailers and other urban agents have thus tended towards more frequent and smaller deliveries, resulting in a growing use of light freight vehicles (<3.5 ton). This paper characterizes and analyzes urban freight distribution in order to generate new ways of understanding the phenomenon. Based on a case study of two different-sized Spanish cities using data from GPS, a vehicle observation survey and complementary driver's interviews, the authors propose a categorization of urban freight distribution. The results confirm GPS as a useful tool that allows the integration of dynamic traffic assignment data and diverse traffic operation patterns during different day periods, thereby improving delivery performance.
