The estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) subsidizes the calculations of water consumption in irrigated agriculture. The use of simpler methodologies are common however should be carefully studied. The present study evaluated the sensitivity of the Hargreaves -Samani equation compared to the standard Penman-Monteith -FAO to estimate ETo for the climatic conditions of the Bebedouro-SP region, simulating the effects of increasing and decreasing 5 % in the temperatures, resulting in ten different scenarios (PM -Penman-Montheit -FAO; S0 -original Hargreaves Samani; S1 to S8 -modified Hargreaves Samani). The obtained results of sensitivity, linear regression, accuracy and concordance index, were compared. We concluded that the Hargreaves -Samani equation overestimates the monthly values of the ETo in 13% compared to the standard method. A variation of 5% in maximum and minimum temperatures resulted in errors of up to 1 mm day-1 (monthly average) and this increase is more expressive in maximum temperature.

When registering spectral radiance from surface targets, digital numbers recorded by the imagery sensor may vary. Such variation causes imperfections on the images coming from aerial surveys. Variation in the image brightness related to the distance from the center of the image is known as the vignetting effect. Correcting this effect aims at achieving an homogeneous image brightness. The purpose of this paper is to present a specific methodology to determine a model in order to minimize this vignette effect based on a model fit by Least Squares Method (LSM), using digital numbers (DN) from shadowed regions. The main hypothesis is that the recorded DN of shadow pixels should be suitable to model the vignetting effect. Considering that the vignetting effect could be modeled as a trend of spatial image variation, a trend surface analysis of a sample of pixels from shadowed regions was carried out. Two approaches were adopted to represent the shadow regions of an image. The first one takes into account the components R, G, B of the aerial image within the visible spectral band, and the second one considers the component I of the HSI image. In order to evaluate the methodology, a study case with a color aerial image was carried out. The findings showed that the best results were obtained by applying the model in the RGB components, which allows to conclude that the vignetting effect can be modeled based on trend surfaces fit on shadow regions DN.

A-Nperp, Pg-Nperp e mandibular plane). Thirty patients (male or female), with age varying from 19 to 48 years old were analyzed. All patients were diagnosted with mandibular retrognathism and submitted to bilateral sagital mandibular advancement. All tracings were performed in lateral cephalometric radiographs obtained one week before surgery. The intraclass correlation coefficient analysis (ICC), the t test adjusted for Tukey-Kramer test and Schuirmann test were applied. The results showed that the manual tracings and Nemotec® tracing had excellent reliabilities for all measures (ICC > 0.98). The Dolphin Imaging® showed low reliability in anterior facial height (value of ICC = 0.70), Co-A (value of ICC = 0.47) and Co-Gn (ICC value = 0.49). In A-Nperp, Pg-Nperp, Mandibular plan, SNA and SNB there were no differences between the 3 tracings (p > 0.05), for the anterior facial height measures differences were found between the Dolphin Imaging® and Nemotec® tracings, but no differences were observed as compared to the manual tracing (p > 0.05), in Co-A and Co-Gn measures t Dolphin Imaging® presented a significantly lower mean than the other methods (p > 0.05). The manual tracings were equivalent in 6 of 8 measures (A-Nperp, Pg-Nperp, md Plan, SNA, SNB and Co-A), there was no equivalence between the methods in the anterior facial height and Co-Gn measures (p < 0.01). The Dolphin Imaging® method was not equivalent in any of the 8 measures. It was concluded that in the manual tracing only the Co- Gn, Pg-Nperp and SNB measures confirmed the diagnosis of mandibular retrognathism, and the Nemotec® software showed better results than the Dolphin Imaging® software.

The purpose of this study was to determine a shape factor to estimate area of leaflets of two peanut cultivars (IAC TATU ST, IAC RUNNER 886). Correlation studies were conducted involving real leaf area (Sf) and leaf length (C), maximum leaf width (L) and the product between C and L. For each cultivar was determined a form factor (f) by means of regression analysis between the product of the length by the width and the actual area of leaves and the correlation between leaf area estimated by the correction factor and direct measurement. All evaluated models (linear, exponential or geometric) provided good estimates of leaf area (above 87%). Linear models had the best fit, passing or not through the origin. From a practical viewpoint, it is suggested to use the linear model involving the C and L product, using a linear coefficient equal to zero, with values of factor f equal to 0.7111 and 0.7266 for IAC RUNNER 886 and IAC TATU ST, respectively. The method of dimensions is feasible for the estimation of leaf area for both peanut cultivars, for showing good r(2) values (0.97), with errors below 3%, even when used with independent data.

Cancer biology is a complex and expanding field of science study. Due its complexity, there is a strong motivation to integrate many fields of knowledge to study cancer biology, and biological stoichiometry can make this. Biological stoichiometry is the study of the balance of multiple chemical elements in biological systems. A key idea in biological stoichiometry is the growth rate hypothesis, which states that variation in the carbon:nitrogen:phosphorus stoichiometry of living things is associated with growth rate because of the elevated demands for phosphorusrich ribosomal RNA and other elements necessary to protein synthesis. As tumor cells has high rate proliferation, the growth rate hypothesis can be used in cancer study. In this work the dynamic of two tumors (primary and secondary) and the chemical elements carbon and nitrogen are simulate and analyzed through mathematical models that utilize as central idea biological stoichiometry. A determinação da composição corporal pode ser utilizada para evidenciar diversos fatores entre eles a dieta, o uso de drogas, a incidência de patologias, diferenças genética, nível de treinamento, gênero e idade. No modelo de natação para ratos a composição corporal pode ter um papel determinante na intensidade de exercício, uma vez que os animais utilizados podem apresentar diferentes densidades corporais. Nesse sentido, o objetivo do presente projeto baseia-se na possibilidade de desenvolver uma equação para estimar o volume corporal de ratos sedentários a partir da relação linear entre peso e volume corporais (r=1,00) encontrada em estudos anteriores. Dessa forma, tornando prático e viável o uso da densidade corporal para precisa determinação da intensidade de exercício em estudos que utilizam a natação como ergômetro de exercício animal. Para isso serão utilizados 105 Rattus norvegicus albinus da linhagem Wistar, os quais serão avaliados em um estudo longitudinal que consiste em avaliações a cada 30 dias, a partir dos 60 até 240 dias de idade, para a determinação do volume corporal através de pesagens hidrostáticas, do índice de lee e análise da composição química da carcaça. Com isso, espera-se poder derivar uma equação para estimar o volume corporal dentro de toda a faixa de idade utilizada ou, no caso não seja encontrada uma relação linear entre peso e volume corporais entre ratos de diferentes idades, o desenvolvimento de várias equações para estimar o volume corporal em faixas etárias. Além disso, a composição química da carcaça dos mais será determinada na tentativa de validar o método de pesagem hidrostática e buscar eventuais correlações entre os parâmetro corporais (volume corporal, peso corporal, índice de lee e densidade) e os componentes de gordura, massa magra, água e proteína dos animais

The mathematical models are critical to determine theoretical prices of options and analyze whether they are overrated or underrated. This information strongly influence in operations carried out by the investor. Therefore, it is necessary that the employee model present high degree of reliability and be consistent with the reality of investment to which it is intended. In this sense, this dissertation aims to apply the steps of mathematical modeling in the Pricing of options for decision making in the investment of a hydroelectric power plant. Was used a Monte Carlo simulation, with the Latin Hypercube Method, to determine the volatility of returns of the project. In order to validate the proposed model, compared to the results found by the Binomial Model, which is one of the models most used in this type of investment. The results reinforce the hypothesis that the mathematical modeling with the Binomial Model is critical to investment decision-making in hydroelectric power
