Työn tavoitteena oli tutkia mekaanisia käsittelylaitteita ja -prosesseja kaupalliselle sekajätteelle ja selvittää mahdollisen laitoshankkeen kannattavuutta case-yritykselle. Jätehuollon yritykset ovat jatkuvan muutoksen alla kasvavien keräys- ja käsittelykustannusten takia, joka vaatii säästöjen etsimistä. Sekajäte sisältää arvokkaita kierrätysraaka-aineita ja näiden erottelu voisi luoda lisäarvoa alentuneina hävityskustannuksina ja lisääntyneinä myyntituottoina. Työssä selvitettiin kaupallisen sekajätteen koostumusta lajittelukokeen ja muiden sekajätetutkimusten avulla. Mekaanisia käsittelylaitteita tutkittiin kirjallisuuden ja case-esimerkkien kautta. Laitoshakkeen kannattavuutta arvioitiin taulukkolaskentamallin avulla. Laitosvaihtoehtoja tarkasteltiin 10-30 tuhannen tonnin kapasiteetin välillä. Laskelmien ja kirjallisuustutkimuksen pohjalta kannattavimpana vaihtoehtona nähtiin SRF kierrätyspolttoainetta valmistava laitos. Kirjallisuustutkimuksen ja case-laitosten pohjalta luotiin kaksi investointiskenaariota, joille laskettiin taulukkolaskentamallin avulla yksikkökustannukset, nettonykyarvot ja sisäiset korot. Kustannusaineisto oli peräisin case-yritykseltä ja muista laitostutkimuksista. Kannattavuuslaskelmien mukaan skenaario 2, jossa SRF-tuotannon lisäksi eroteltaisiin sekalaisia muoveja, on kannattavampi. Skenaarioiden 1 ja 2 kriittiset pisteet olivat noin 15,3 ja 13,6 tuhatta tonnia vuodessa. Kumpikaan skenaarioista ei kuitenkaan ole kannattava case-yrityksen omilla vuotuisilla kuormilla (10 000 tonnia). Lisää käsiteltävää jätettä tulisi hankkia ulkopuolisilta yrityksiltä taloudellisesti edullisen vaakamaksun avulla. Skenaarion 2 ongelmaksi kuitenkin muodostuu sekalaisten muovien poistuminen SRF:n komponenttina, mikä vaikuttaa SRF:n markkinoitavuuteen tehollisen lämpöarvon alenemisen takia.

Internet of Things or IoT is revolutionizing the world we are living in, similarly the way Internet and the web did few decades ago. It is changing how we interact with the things surrounding us. Electronic health and remote patient monitoring are the ways of utilizing these technological improvements towards the healthcare. There are many applications of IoT in eHealth such as, it will open the gate to provide healthcare to the remote areas of the world, where healthcare through traditional hospital systems cannot be provided. To connect these new eHealth IoT systems with the existing healthcare information systems, we can use the existing interoperability standards commonly used in healthcare information systems. In this thesis we implemented an eHealth IoT system based on Health Level 7 interoperability standard for continuous data transmission. There is not much previous work done in implementing the HL7 for continuous sensor data transmission. Some of the previous work was limited to sensors which are not continuous in nature and some of it is only theatrical architecture. This thesis aims to prove that it is possible to implement an eHealth IoT system by using sensors which require continues data transmission, such as respiratory sensors, and to connect it with the existing eHealth information system semantically by using HL7 interoperability standard. This system will be beneficial in implementing eHealth IoT systems for those patients, who requires continuous healthcare personal monitoring. This includes elderly people and patients, whose health need to be monitored constantly. To implement the architecture, HL7 v2.5 is selected due to its ease of implementation and low size. We selected some open source technologies because of their open licenses and large developer community. We will also review the most efficient technology available in every layer of eHealth IoT system and will propose an efficient system.

Survey map and description of the land belonging to the Welland Canal Company at Dunnville. Created by The Welland Canal Company. Included is a written description of the land along with a drawing of the land. There are two seperate surveys done for the lands: Survey #1 (Pp. 148-149) noteable features include; the Grand River, the original boundry of the Grand River, marsh overflow, marsh, feeder river, bridge, Broad street, Lock street, Main street, embankment, dam (600 ft.), lines between lots, reserve for the ships yard, reserve for lock and dry dock, lands occupied by the canal and towpath to guard gate. The land totals 9 acres, and 3 roads, including the street. Survey #2 (Pp. 150-151) completed by George Keefer noteable features include; embankment, marsh overflow, original channel of the Grand River, salt spring, bridges, wier, proposed waste wier, Van Riper's home, proposed bridge, sulphur spring, road, Sulphur Creek, division between lots 12-17. This is a small cabinet card of an unidentified man, photographed by J. W. Cole, of Brampton, Ont. He is possibly a relative of the Bell - Sloman family, whose descendants include former Black slaves who settled in Canada. While this photograph is undated, it is believed to be taken between 1865 and 1884. The photographer's stamp is printed in gold lettering along the bottom of the card. This photograph was in the possession of Iris Sloman Bell, of St. Catharines.Two photographers by the name of Cole are known to have worked in Brampton, Ontario in the latter half of the 19th century. J.F. (John W.?) is listed as a photographer in 1882, while John W. Cole operated from 1865-1884. John W. Cole is also listed as a daguerrean artist, that is, he produced daguerreotypes.
