Underwater spectral reflectance was measured for selected biotic and abiotic coral reef features of Glovers Reef, Belize from March 6 - 10, 2005. Spectral reflectance's of 63 different benthic types were obtained in-situ. An Ocean Optics USB2000 spectrometer was deployed in an custom made underwater housing with a 0.5 m fiber-optic probe mounted next to an artificial light source. Spectral readings were collected with the probe (bear fibre) about 5 cm from the target to ensure that the target would fill the field of view of the fiber optic (FOV diameter ~4.4 cm), as well as to reduce the attenuating effect of the intermediate water (Roelfsema et al., 2006). Spectral readings included for one target included: 1 reading of the covered spectral fibre to correct for instrument noise, 1 reading of spectralon panel mounted on divers wrist to measure incident ambient light, and 8 readings of the target. Spectral reflectance was calculated for each target by first subtracting the instrument noise reading from each other reading. The corrected target readings were then divided by the corrected spectralon reading resulting in spectral reflectance of each target reading. An average target spectral reflectance was calculated by averaging the eight individual spectral reflectance's of the target. If an individual target spectral reflectance was visual considered an outlier, it was not included in the average spectral reflectance calculation. See Roelfsema at al. The Southern Marion Plateau (SMP) represents a vertical stacking of Miocene carbonate platform deposits. Two sites (1196 and 1199) were drilled on top of this plateau, penetrating a 663-m carbonate succession of bioclastic and reefal sedimentary bodies. The study focuses on the least dolomitized 410-m-thick upper part of the succession, which is middle to late Miocene in age. Sedimentological and paleontological studies were conducted at both sites in order to propose a paleoenvironmental model and its evolution through the Miocene age. Six main microfacies of possible environmental significance were defined using statistical multivariate analyses, based on the recognition and point counting of 24 biogenic components. Depositional environment reconstructions are proposed as well as the biosedimentary and the environmental evolution regarding seismic architectures, stratigraphy, biosedimentology, and microfacies analysis. The SMP platform mainly results from a vertical stacking of lens-shaped bodies in homoclinal to distally steepened ramp settings.

La maleta de los nervios, de Antonio Álamo, pone en escena algunos elementos del carnaval -las chirigotas gaditanas, de desenfadado humor popular-, sacadas de su contexto original. El autor realizó un taller de dramaturgia con las integrantes de la agrupación 'La Chirigota de Las Niñas', y creó una 'partitura escénica' en la que incorporó personajes y acción dramática a la estructura de improvisación original. Incluyó también algunas coplas de una de las actrices convocadas, en cuya 'altísima calidad autoral' 'según Álamo', se trasluce la mejor poesía satírica tradicional, desde el Arcipreste a Quevedo. Surgió así una pieza en la que tres amas de casa muestran en escena su equipaje vital, saturado de ansiedades e insatisfacción. Emplean para ello un lenguaje que no rehúye lo obsceno, lo escatológico o lo irreverente, y tratan temas de la calle y de todos los días: la ausencia de proyectos vitales, el consumo de drogas como refugio, las pequeñas mezquindades en las relaciones personales, la falta de criterios firmes en la educación de los hijos, la pobreza, el desempleo, la reacción ante la inmigración.
