Accordingly, a variety of firms's technological capabilities studies, the literature recently is still lacking about the dynamic of sector evolution and technological development in inter-firm and their implication for technical and economical financial performance. More lacking is the research catching up the evolution of industrial sectors after the institutional reforms in the 90. For that, the focus of the dissertation is to analyze the main of the evolution of the pulp and paper industry from 1970 to 2004, using as reference points the import-substitution policy and the economic deregulation of the 1990s. Futhermore, the work tries to evaluate how such changes at industry level have been perceived from a firm point of view in terms of accumulation of technological capabilities and improvement of economic financial performance. This linkage is tested and examined in the following firms: Aracruz (Barra do Riacho establishment ), Klabin (Monte Alegre establishment) e Votorantim Celulose e Papel ¿ VCP (Jacareí establishment), defining the same time period of sectoral level. As far as the industry level study is concerned, it is based on the average rate of annual growth of some selected variables, given that the technological capabilities test is performed according to the methodology already existing in the literature, but properly adapted to the pulp and paper case. Similarly, the analysis regarding the improvement of the economic financial performance is based on a set of industry specific indicators. Hence, the work is built upon multiple case studies, taking into account both the qualitative and quantitative evidence, i.e. interviews, direct observations, as well as firm reports. Finally, it is worth emphasizing as the analysis of the changes in the sector, in conjunction with the above mentioned methodology used to measure the technological capabilities in the context of an evolving industrial regime, is still lacking in emerging economies as well as in Brazil. According to the empirical evidence, the reforms of the 1990s had a positive impact on the industrial development, from both the national and international viewpoint. Such a transformation was evident at firm level in terms of accumulation of technological capabilities and improvement of economic financial indicators. Indeed, the results show that the speed of accumulation of technological capabilities within the firms influences positively the performance indicators. On the other hand, these are also related to external factors, such as the macroeconomic conditions, which as such have not been considered in details.

Este trabalho busca entender como as Incubadoras de Empresas, por meio das relações com os agentes que fazem parte das suas redes, são capazes de auxiliar o surgimento de novas empresas. Identificou-se que aquelas Incubadoras de Empresas que se relacionam por meio de laços fortes com suas Instituições Mantenedoras e onde seus gestores conseguem articular o Capital Social potencialmente disponível dentro da rede que se constrói a partir dessas Incubadoras, são capazes de estimular o surgimento de novas empresas e disponibilizar um volume de Capital Social suficientemente capaz para que essas empresas, durante o período de Incubação, tenham a possibilidade de acumular seu próprio Capital Social a ponto de garantir a sua sobrevivência, após a sua saída da Incubadora.

No Brasil, de forma geral, é elevado o custo do capital de terceiros para financiamento das atividades empresariais. Para a gestão financeira das corporações brasileiras, são cruciais o fortalecimento do capital próprio e a obtenção de melhores saldos no fluxo de caixa. Uma importante fonte de financiamento são os recursos gerados na própria empresa. Entre as várias opções para fortalecimento do capital próprio e para melhoria do fluxo de caixa, uma alternativa que pode ser viável, dependendo das variáveis às quais a empresa está submetida, é o uso dos juros sobre o capital próprio, previsto na Lei nº 9.249/1995 e alterações posteriores. Este trabalho tem como objetivo a proposição de um modelo para gestão financeira das empresas, considerando o impacto dos juros sobre o capital próprio na estrutura do capital e no fluxo de caixa da empresa. Objetiva também mensurar os efeitos do uso dos juros sobre o capital próprio no conjunto formado pela empresa e seus investidores. Efetuou-se um diagnóstico das principais variáveis que podem afetar a decisão das empresas de utilizar ou não os juros sobre o capital próprio para remunerar os investidores. Posteriormente, foi elaborado um modelo para avaliação do impacto dos juros sobre o capital próprio na estrutura de capital e no fluxo de caixa da empresa. O modelo foi aplicado em uma empresa hipotética. A aplicação do modelo proposto proporcionou à empresa melhoria na rapidez, qualidade, confiabilidade e flexibilidade das informações, e maior racionalização e transparência nos processos de gestão relacionados à decisão de uso dos juros sobre o capital próprio Os juros sobre o capital próprio são uma opção fiscal à disposição dos gestores da empresa para remunerar os investidores. O valor dos juros remuneratórios do capital deduzido o imposto de renda retido na fonte, pode ser imputado aos dividendos obrigatórios ou utilizado para aumento do capital da empresa. O modelo proposto gera informações a respeito do impacto que o uso da opção fiscal provoca na carga tributária, no capital próprio e no fluxo de caixa da empresa e dos respectivos acionistas. Outras informações do modelo são as possíveis alterações na remuneração, com base no lucro societário, propiciada a debenturistas, empregados, administradores, partes beneficiárias e acionistas. As informações produzidas pelo modelo têm natureza estratégica e permitem aos gestores da empresa tomar decisões com melhor fundamentação.

Este trabalho objetivou verificar até que ponto os programas de preparo e acompanhamento da aposentadoria tem sido privilegiados na Administração Pública Indireta no Brasil; até que ponto a administração desses programas vem influindo positivamente na produtividade da força de trabalho ativa, bem como, se a administração desses programas está garantindo maior longevidade e satisfação para os aposentados. o estudo abrange quatro órgãos representativos dos ramos de mineração, crédito, telecomunicações e petróleo, com limitação espacial restrita ao Rio de Janeiro, sede dos mesmos, enfocando a ação do programa a partir de sua implantação, até o advento da Lei 8842 de 4 de janeiro de 1994.

Esta dissertação analisa as transformações ocorridas na indústria editorial de livros no Brasil frente à abertura da economia iniciada em 1990 até a atualidade. São utilizados três conjuntos de determinantes da globalização sugeridos pela teoria (tecnológico, político e econômico) como dimensões de análise. A partir de dados bibliográficos, documentais e entrevistas com empresários e dirigentes de entidades representativas da indústria concluiu-se que estes determinantes apontados pela teoria realmente implicaram em transformações significativas na indústria editorial brasileira e revelaram-se critérios úteis para avaliação do impacto da globalização não só na indústria em geral, como também em setores industriais específicos.

A função social da empresa e, a finalidade do instituto da falência, são analisadas perante os reais interesses da coletividade na preservação dos empreendimentos que, embora bons irradiadores de beneficios sociais e econômicos à comunidade, enfrentam dificuldades financeiras. Diversas formas de como conduzir a gestão administrativa da empresa, enquanto beneficiária da proteção legal, são contempladas e, sugerida a adoção de uma gestão reconstrutiva, focada na recuperação da empresa enquanto beneficio ao conjunto da coletividade.

Evolution is present in world dynamics. And it is just in such transformational environment where companies have been encapsulated. In an economy of knowledge, physical assets alone are unable to provide profits to meet shareholders' demands. Now there comes an invisible component with the purpose of defining strategies and impelling results: Intangible Assets. Banking financing systems, however, have not kept pace with this knowledge revolution and its resulting new income generation techniques. Credit analysis methods for most financing agents would not employ any intangible parameters in their methodology of study as yet. This paper seeks to discuss the importance of intangible assets by focusing their role of influencial factor in decisions to finance technology-based companies. By studying the credit risk classification system employed by FINEP, Brazil's Federal Agency for innovation development, we wished to suggest indicators for intangibles which might be put to use in the Financiadora.

This paper analyses the effect of International capital flows and their behavior for emergent countries, focused in Brazilian financial market. It considers that capital flows had dramatically increased, however their impact, proposals on changes in international market and capital controls has not been clear. Considering capital flows In comparison to portfolio investments and to direct investments, this paper, also aims to discuss and highlight questions whether the concepts that capital flows generally associated to portfolio investments are frequently connected with incidence of crises meanwhile the second have been associated with growth in some countries.

This study analyses the impact of Information Technology used in the undergraduate course of Business Administration at Centro Superior de Vila Velha. The Information Technology considered in the study is computer connected to the Internet, projectors, televisions and VCRs. To support the analysis, a survey was conducted in three different groups: directors (shareholders, principal, dean and chairperson), faculty and students. A questionnaire was developed for each group and validated through discussions and critical reviews by the academic committee for of this study. Items and questions were explicitly defined from the literature and based on expert opinion to provide respondents with a common understanding of the questions. The questionnaire used in the directors group focused mainly on motivation and on the investment planning for Information Technology in the institution. For the faculty and student groups, the questionnaire focused on the extent to what the group use of IT for classes and assignments, and to what extent the faculty understands the availability of IT to be used. The instrument was sent each person, for directors and faculty, and applied during class for students. The results show that although faculty and students perceive Information Technology are important for research and as a tool in the teaching and learning process, the available IT in the institution has been used under its capacity of utilization.

This dissertation seeks to recognize the impacts that outsourcing of the call center brings to firms of electrical energy in Brazil. For this research, two existing cases in the brazilian sector electric: i) case of Cemig, firm mineira of electrical energy; ii) case Light, firm carioca of electrical energy. The framework of this dissertation is based of the methodology of multiple study cases described by Robert Yin (2003). This work analyzed separately each of the cases and compared the results obtained in each analysis. In this way, this research aimed at analyzing the impacts that firms sufering in outsource the call center, despite the citys are diferents, like the factors of the environment. The obtained results suggest that the firms adopt the mixed call center, with the greatest part of outsources employees and with less proper. The importants impacts seeks in this research are the lost of the image, quality and the control of the process of answering. The aim impacts of a outsourcing the call center find in this research are the lost of the image of the firm and the reduction of the control of the process of customer service, impacting directly on the quality of the customer service.

E ste estudo foi motivado pelo sentimento de que o alto custo tínanceiro que se verifica em várias pequenas empresas é, pelo menos em parte. relacionado com a precariedade dos controles administrativos e das infOlmaç õc s contábeis que deveriam suportar a tomada de decisões diárias de seus respectivos gestores. O objetivo desta dissertação é estudar as conseqüênc ias para as pequenas empresas brasileiras de uma má administração de reeursos financeiros, causadas principalmente pela informalidade do negócio e pela precariedade de informações contábeis uti lizadas na tomada de decisões. Partindo-se de pesquisas que mostram a elevada taxa de mortalidade em pequenos negóeios no Brasil e suas principais causas, faz-se nesta dissertação uma descrição sumária dos pri ncipais aspectos teóri cos que envolvem a administração financeira e o processo contábil de geração de informação, além de um estudo sobre as principais fontes de captação de recursos disponíveis para as pequenas empresas e o custo dessas operações.

This dissertation seeks to add new evidence to the international debate on globalization of innovation in the developing countries context. Globalization of innovation, in this dissertation, is defined and measured by the types, levels and rate of innovative technological capability accumulation and the underlying technological learning processes (sources of capabilities) at the firm level in late-industrializing countries ¿ or developing countries. This relationship is examined within a large transnational corporation (TNC) subsidiary of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in Brasil: Motorola do Brasil during over the period from 1996 to 2006. In the international literature there is a strong debate on the extent to which innovative technological capabilities have been spreading internationally. But, the most of the studies are focused on early industrialized countries. In other words, there is still a scarcity of analysis, mainly at the firm level, from the perspective of developing countries. This dissertation supports itself in analytical basis developed in the international literature on accumulation of technological capabilities and learning in the context of developing countries. The learning processes examined in this dissertation are: (i) intra-firm learning processes; (ii) inter-firm learning processes (links between mother and sister companies); and (iii) links between the firm and other organizations of the innovation system (universities, research institutes, among others). Based on first-hand empirical evidence, qualitative and quantitative, collected on the basis of extensive fieldwork, this dissertation examines these issues with adequate level of detail and depth, in this large company in Brazil. The study results suggest that: Concerning the path of the technological capability accumulation, the firm exhibited heterogeneity in the path of accumulation of technological capabilities to distinct functions. For the functions Software Engineering and Process and Management Project the firm reached the Level 6 (Innovative Intermediate Superior), on a scale that ranges from 1 to 7; In relation to technological capability sources, the firm deliberately sought and built sources of knowledge in order to develop and sustain its innovative technological capabilities. The dissertation, thus, contributes to adding new empirical evidence to the debate on globalization of innovative capabilities from a late-industrializing perspective.

O presente estudo objetivou identificar as principais causas da mortalidade das micro e pequenas empresas brasileiras e como os instrumentos de planejamento e gerenciamento econômico-financeiros podem reduzir esta mortalidade. Foi realizada pesquisa bibliográfica sobre as micro e pequenas empresas (MPE) em que se identificaram: as definições, as principais características, a importância, as principais necessidades e dificuldades, a taxa de mortalidade e os fatores de mortalidade desse segmento de empresas. Dessa forma, verificou-se que as MPE têm grande importância na economia e sociedade brasileiras. A maioria expressiva (98%) das empresas brasileiras é classificada como MPE, sendo elas responsáveis por 43% da oferta de empregos e por quase a metade de toda a receita e valor da produção do país. O trabalho abordou pesquisas mostrando que as taxas médias de mortalidade das empresas brasileiras são significativas e preocupantes, podendo atingir índices próximos a 60% somente no primeiro ano de sua constituição, em alguns Estados do Brasil. Este fenômeno não pode ser atribuído a um fator isoladamente, mas a um conjunto de fatores ambientais, técnicos, administrativos e outros mais que, combinados, podem ampliar os riscos de fechamento das x empresas. No entanto, grande parte dos estudos aponta problemas de origem financeira como um dos principais fatores condicionantes da mortalidade das MPE. As necessidades mais prementes nas MPE, identificadas na pesquisa bibliográfica, foram: instrumentos de planejamento e gestão, treinamento especializado, capital de giro, crédito a taxas compatíveis com a rentabilidade e formalização dos processos. A pesquisa principal do trabalho é o estudo de caso abordando a experiência vivencial de implantação, planejamento, gerenciamento e controle do Restaurante Buongustaio em Brasília, nos seus 10 meses iniciais de funcionamento. Foram abordadas as principais dificuldades, problemas enfrentados e soluções envolvendo planejamento, gestão, recursos humanos, capital de giro e atendimento a clientes, dentre outros. o estudo de caso possibilitou a aferição de vários conceitos e conteúdos abordados na pesquisa bibliográfica e conclui-se que a utilização dos instrumentos de planejamento e gerenciamento econômico-financeiros, como: plano de negócios, análise econômico-financeira, gerenciamento do fluxo de caixa e de capital de giro, fornece importante contribuição para a sobrevivência e crescimento da micro e pequena empresa, reduzindo o seu risco de falência ou mortalidade prematura.

This study has as objective to present a proposal to analyze the politics of the Human Resource of the Bank of Brazil utilizing the Theory of sign" (semiotic) as a theory tool, connecting to the organizational usages that had been historically stable and a new speech from the directory body that search for excellence and modernity. It¿s necessary to identify the adequate strategies to manage human resources in a businesses considered excellent and that the Bank search to utilize (benchmarking), doing a semiotic cut, in other words, isolating the communicative aspect, to find how she produces the understanding of what really need to be done at the company. If the purpose of the Bank of Brazil is to reunite an associated team, guided to results progressively better, that makes it even more competitive, and achieve its mission "to be the solution to services and the finance intermediation, to attend the expectation of clients and shareholders, to fortify the liability between the public functionary and the company and to be useful to society", should implement a model weaved in the daily one of organization to start from the creation of adequate institutional channels rewards (promotions, direct or indirect salaries, training) that privilege the aptitude an constant learning. Through the bibliographical research, will be looked to select illustrious representative texts of the specialized literature that corroborates the idea that the Bank of Brazil possess the necessary management tools to a good management of Human Resources, lacking adjust them, through the acquisition of abilities. For in such a way one will search in internal documents, data on the management of the company, interpreting them to the light of the bibliographical research. Finally it will be included participant comment as link between the theory and the practical one, the speech and the action."
