This study compared the effect of the treatment protocol for correcting Class Il malocclusion using the Herbst appliance followed by full fixed Straigh-wire mechanics, in two populations, one Brazilian and one of North American origin As a untreated control sample the data from the University of Michigan Elementary and Secondary School Growth Study (UMGS) was used. Our sample was composed of 12 males and 12 females, with initial mean age of 12 years 7 months and final mean ages of 15 years and 3 months. The Michigan patients comprised 21 females and 7 males, with an initial mean age of 11 years and 9 months and final mean age of 14 years and 4 months. The control sample was paired in number, sex and age to the treated Michigan sample. ln both treated groups, lateral cephalometric radiographs were obtained before the Herbst appliance was cemented and at the end of the fixed appliance phase, The first comparison involved the Brazil group and the untreated controls, which demonstrated that the association of the Herbst appliance followed by fixed Straight-wire appliances provoked positive effects on the dentofacial complex, improving pre-existing maxillo-mandibular relationships, besides increasing dentoalveolar compensations which contributed to correct the malocclusion. The second comparison, involved the Brazl1ian and North-American patients treated with the same protocol. Although the pre-treatment comparison showed that the two groups were not similar in all aspects, they presented almost identical therapeutic modifications, which indicate that the effect of' treatment was very similar. These results point out that, in Class ll treatment, the combination of Herbst/Straight-wire mechanics produce consistent and systematic effects, correcting or minimizing possible skeletal imbalances

Our objective is to present the concept of «proletariancondition”, considered by us as the fundamental existential condition (and foundational) of modern finances, which involves men and women deprived of the means of production for their social life,in the situation of «social class» of the proletariat. The (quote, unquote)«class» of the proletariat is the social group of men and women, alienated from the social ownership/control of the means of life production, who are subsumed to a particular historical existential condition: the condition of proletarians.

The Kaposi-associated Herpesvirus (KSHV) also known as Human Herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) is associated with the development of Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) and others limphoprolipheratives diseases such as Primary Effusion Lymphoma (PEL) and Multicentric Castleman Disease (MCD). Even though the virus is considered lymphotropic, it is able to infect others cell types such as macrophages, dendritic cells, endothelial cells, monocytes and fibroblasts. After infection, KSHV be latent expressing essential viral genes to its maintenance in a infected cell. However, in some circumstances may occur the reactivation of lytic cycle producing new viral particles. K1 protein of KSHV interferes in the cellular signaling inducing proliferation and supporting cellular transformation. K1 is encoded by viral ORF-K1, which shows high variability between different genotypes of KSHV. So far, it is not clear whether different isoforms of K1 have specific immunobiological features. The KSHV latency is maintained under strict control by the immune system supported by an adequate antigen presentation involving Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) class I and II. Polymorphisms of HLA class I and II genes confer an enormous variability in molecules that recognize a large amount of antigens, but also can increase the susceptibility to autoimmune diseases. Therefore, the present study aims to genotype HLA class I (A and B) and class II (DR and DQ) from volunteers to identify haplotypes that can provide better response to K1 epitopes of different KSHV genotypes. First of all, 20 volunteers were selected to genotype HLA genes. In our results we observed prevalence of certain HLA class I haplotypes as HLAA1, HLA-A2, HLA-A24, HLA-A26, HLA-B8, HLA-B18 e HLA-B44. After the in silico analysis using BIMAS and SYFPEITHI databases, we observed high scores for epitopes from the B genotype of KSHV, indicating...(Complete abstract click electronic access below)

The electrical substations have the goal to transmit, distribute and change the characteristics of electrical energy transmission networks of dealers to the end user with a high rate of reliability and continuously. For this it’s necessary to accomplish a gathering of datas from the local dealers where will be installed the substation to make a good electric project. This work has the objective to gather all the contents relatives to electric project of substation that are scattered in the literature, in order to organize and develop a basic guide that presents a methodology to dimension electrical equipments that belong to an industrial substation at 15 kV. In addition to elaborate a basic guide, this work aids to specify electrical equipments installed in the substation, bringing information and comparisons to know and determinate the kind of equipments that will be used, in a correct and coherent way with the national and international rules. Ultimately, after determined, got and specified all the equipments that belongs to an industrial substation, the work mention in global manner how to calculate the dimension of substation physical arrangement, determining all the least and required dimensions of each cubicle

The present study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the Creative Economy and Traditional Economy, highlighting the importance of each one on the economic development of the state of São Paulo. To achieve this goal, we analyzed the performance of the key sectors that comprise these economies, between the years 2002 and 2012, using data collected in the Annual Report (RAIS) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE ). The information obtained is related to the share of each sector in formal employment, average and generated in each sector worker remuneration, qualification worked as the level of education acquired, the distribution of workers according to gender in each economic sector among others. The use of these factors are of great importance because trends characterize the current situation of the labor market. Analysis of the share of each sector of the creative economy and also the Traditional Economy in the economic development of the state of São Paulo is constructed through graphs and tables and the results show a difference in the training of workers in both economies, as well as a difference in their incomes

In malocclusion studies, may happen not only dental discrepancies but even skeletal discrepancies. In Class III malocclusion can be observed underdeveloped maxilla, mandible protraction or both of them, and, in most of the times associated with a narrow maxilla that causes anterior or posterior crossbites, in one side or in two sides. The aim of this case report is to evaluate the facial profile and occlusal effects of interceptive orthodontics therapy. The treatment with upper arch expansion and maxilla protraction was done in an early age to be effective in the circummaxillary sutural system and to make the orthopedic effect easier. The facial mask used is positioned on two facial points and allows an anterior maxillary replacement. Patients’ compliance is important to reach treatment success, this because using the mask still in this growth and development phase is essential to make the facial and occlusal effects happen. It is important to mention that patients with Angle Class III malocclusion need to be followed till the end of their growth.
