A produção técnico-científica de James Precott Joule: uma leitura a partir da epistemologia de Ludwig Fleck

This paper aims an epistemologically analysis of the attempt of James Prescott Joule to replace the steam engine by the electric one. In this historical analysis, we use the epistemological categories: style of thinking, collective thinking, intercollective circulation of ideas and practices,Joule and other technicians in Machester received in that time financial incentives from governments and industry to replace the steam engine by the electric one, since it was in Manchester a culture of the technique of the accuracy and precision in which Joule was immersed, which allowed us to initially identify the styles of techniques thinking and experimental efficiency. However, Joule could not replace the steam engine by the electric; and the awareness of the problems faced by him, in the attempt to make such a substitution, led him to seek, through an intercollective circulation of ideas and practices, such as the studies of Faraday and Jacobi, a change of direction in his researches. According to our analysis, what happened was a change of style from a technical to a scientific thinking. In this sense, Joule began to investigate issues of a scientific nature, as the Joule’s effect and the mechanical equivalent of heat, which contributed significantly to the establishment of the principle of conservation of energy. We present here the contributions of this epistemological analysis to the discussion of questions of the nature of science in the basic education and for the training of physics teachers.

Jornalismo e crítica literária em Sérgio Augusto

The aim of this article is to analyze the journalistic elements existents in Sérgio Augusto’s literary criticism, in the column Prosa de Sábado, from the Supplement Sabático of the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. From the methodological point of view, it is guided by the studies of Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory. In addition, it discusses the relations between literary criticism and journalistic criticism based on Silviano Santiago and Flora Süssekind’s reflections, looking for establishing connections with the journalistic elements that inform Sergio Augusto’s literary criticism.

Aproveitamento do resíduo do processamento do café na composição de painéis MDP

A produção de produtos derivados de madeira e bambu vem crescendo nos últimos anos na busca de um aproveitamento mais racional dessas matériasprimas. Este trabalho tem por finalidade, o estudo da aplicação de resíduos do processamento do café em um painel MDP. Os painéis MDP foram produzidos com partículas de bambu da espécie Dendrocalamus giganteus e adição de partículas de casca de café na camada intermediária do painel, unidas por resina poliuretana à base de mamona. A caracterização físico-mecânica foi realizada baseando-se nas especificações da NBR 14810-3 (2006). Os resultados obtidos foram comparados com a norma brasileira NBR 14810-2 (2006), resultando em valores próximos aos comercialmente encontrados.

A dialética singular-particular-universal: implicações do método materialista dialético para a psicologia

Considering that Cultural-Historical theory has been gaining importance within Brazilian Psychology in the last decades, this essay aims at contributing to understanding its ontological and epistemological foundations, introducing the concepts of singularity, particularity and universality of the dialectics that exists between them. The analysis looks to explore the implications to Psychology, both as a science and as a professional practice, of the lukacsian indication about the need to apprehend the connections between singularity, particularity and universality as a condition for understanding the essence of phenomena. In that sense, this analysis brings light to the individual/society dynamics unity affirmed by historical-dialectical materialism, which contributes to overcoming of the dichotomies usually established between the poles of this relationship.

O circuito espacial produtivo dos fertilizantes no território brasileiro

This paper has two main objective the study of the productive space circuit of fertilizers in Brazil. For this, we study the company's operations Vale Fertilizers SA More specifically, the production and consumption of fertilizers in Brazil. In the current globalization the Brazilian countryside know new ways of doing (SANTOS, 1994). This, with less roughness, adopts the Green Revolution package, and introduces inputs to the soil, such as seeders, combines, tractors, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers (Santos & Silveira, 2001). The examination of the Brazilian case as the agricultural modernization reveals the great vulnerability of modern agricultural regions in the face of globalizing modernization (Santos, 2000: 92). The places that receive capital reproduction of imperatives gain a new medium, is the formation of informational scientific technical means, are the bright spots corresponding to other places (Santos, 1994). In the pumping pipelines the located load losses are very important since they have direct influence on hydraulic design of an irrigation system, especially regarding the concentric reducers used in the distribution lines. Hence this work was conducted in the Laboratório de Hidráulica do Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Uberaba. We analyzed 03 concentric reducers PVC 75 x 50 mm, 50 mm and 35 x 35 x 1 "operating at different flow rates. The performance of the tests with the variation of flow in every situation possible to obtain equations to estimate the loss. The equation models presented a high setting, thus enabling the determination of the localized head loss in a situation closer to field reality. For the reduction of 75 x 50 x 35 mm and 50 mm at a flow rate 16.97 m³ h-1 the pressure drop reduction was obtained respectively 0.9263 and 2.7408 mca. To the reduction of 35 x 1 "at a flow rate of 6.02 m³ h-1 was obtained 2.9304 mca pressure drop reduction. The located losses produced by these reductions are relatively high and should be considered with great discretion in hydraulic design of the irrigation system.

A aprendizagem do desenho e da escrita: uma experiência com ideogramas japoneses no ensino fundamental

The aim of this paper is to gather research information and studies posted about the importance of social environment in the development of symbolic systems on children. Languages verbal, visual and written are interrelated representation systems, although each one has its own characteristics and elements. The objective of this paper is to elucidate the importance of linking the various existing types of language and therefore the importance of a coordinate approach also in the teaching-learning situations of these systems. The work also intends to disclose how thin is the line that separates writing of drawing, both of them as representative systems. As well as to show how visual information and language are intrinsically linked as thought happens by the connections between them. The work includes the report of an activity with Japanese ideograms done in the author's teacher's training at formal education. It also approaches pictographic, creative and poetic aspects of ideograms that brings up new ways of thinking and representing symbolically just like the methods of artistic language
