Las prácticas de la actividad física en Veracruz

La práctica de la actividad física, según K. Zimman, se define como la forma sistemática y regular y como elemento significativo en la prevención, desarrollo y rehabilitación en la salud del ser humano. Este trabajo forma parte de un proyecto de investigación de corte cuantitativo, en la ciudad de Veracruz y Boca del Río, y tiene por objeto de estudio las actividades físicas en espacios públicos y privados. Además busca apoyar acciones del estado, del sector empresarial y educativo con el objetivo de ejecutar un programa integral de actividades físicas que cuente con mayor índice de instalaciones propias, recursos económicos, humanos y materiales, para promover mayor participación de la ciudadanía en actividades físicas

Filosofía, etología y problemáticas urbano-ambientales, ¿la teoría de género puede aportar el debate?

En este trabajo describiré los lineamientos de investigación de este año, en relación a los temas que fuí abordando de áreas tan disímiles como la filosofía, etología, problemáticas urbano ambientales y género. Sostendré que es relevante a su vez, contextualizar la filosofía en relación a nuestra propia situación urbano-ambiental en Buenos Aires y a la serie de problemáticas específicas de la región del Rio de La Plata, y que para ello, es necesario realizar observaciones de campo que enriquezcan el bagaje conceptual. Finalmente analizaré la posibilidad de que la perspectiva de género pueda realizar un aporte crítico a estos temas

Epibiosis between the sand crab Emerita analoga and the mussel Semimytilus algosus

Coastal zones of the Humboldt Current Upwelling System (HCUS) are composed both of rocky and sandy beaches inhabited by macrozoobenthic communities. These show oscillating changes in the dominance of species; the abundance of the sand crab Emerita analoga is linked to phases of the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The biogenic surfaces of these crabs serve as substrate for opportunistic colonizers. This study is the first record of an epibiosis between E. analoga and the rock mussel Semimytilus algosus, detected at a southern Peruvian sandy beach. Mussels fouled a wide size-range of adult E. analoga (7.3%) but they themselves belonged to small-size classes. The largest S. algosus was 17.4 mm in length. Highest permanence of epibionts was found on larger sand crabs (maximum between 24 and 27 mm). Significantly more mussels were found on the ventral surface (39.4%) compared to 10 other surface areas of the sand crab. Possible benefits and disadvantages of the observed epibiosis for both the basibiont and the epibiont are discussed.

Atterberg limits of sediments from DSDP Leg 65 Holes

Atterberg limits have been determined for 32 unconsolidated sediment samples, ranging in composition from silty clay to sandy silt and recovered from four sites drilled at the mouth of the Gulf of California during DSDP Leg 65. The liquid limit of the samples ranged from 41.5% to 157.5%, and the plastic limit from 32.8% to 65.1%. The plasticity index ranged from 5.9% to 102.0%. In some samples, the water content was less than the liquid limit. The liquidity index averaged 76% while the flow and toughness indices averaged 35% and 2.18%, respectively. On the basis of these limits, the sediments analyzed can be classified as inorganic clays of high plasticity, organic clays of moderate to high plasticity, and diatomaceous sands, silts, and silty clays of low plasticity.
