This paper aims to highlight the state of the art of obtaining carbon credits through the use of electric vehicles. This is one of the solutions to significantly reduce the emission of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions in the case of CO 2, NOx, SOx, and CH 4 (thermochemical reactions arising from the combustion of gasoline with ethanol) in motor vehicles. For this quantitative study was done based on the survey of bibliographic data available and the development of basic calculations considering the car fleet of the Country of Brazil and the CO 2 emissions generated by the same. Thus explaining the considerable gain in air quality and reduction of vectors of greenhouse gases in the case of replacing the current fleet of vehicles combustion of hydrocarbon aliphatic chain, for an eco-efficient fleet consists of electric vehicles and/or hybrids.

The review purposes are to (1) evaluate the experimental evidence for adverse effects on reproduction and metabolism and (2) identify the current knowledge of analytical procedures, biochemistry and environmental aspects relating to organotins. Organotins are pollutants that are used as biocides in antifouling paints. They produce endocrine-disrupting effects in mollusks, such as imposex. In rodents, organotin exposure induces developmental and reproductive toxicity as well as alteration of metabolic homeostasis through its action as an obesogen. The adverse effects that appear in rodents have raised concerns about organotins' potential health risk to humans in relation to organotin exposure. At present, triorganotin, such as tributyltin, have been demonstrated to produce imposex, and mammalian reproductive and metabolic toxicity. For most mammals, triorganotin exposure predominantly occurs through the ingestion, and this compound can cross the placenta. With these risks in mind, it is important to improve our knowledge of organotins' effects on environmental health. © 2012 Elsevier Inc.

Inserido no contexto das relações estabelecidas entre saúde mental e trabalho, este estudo tem por objetivo analisar as vivências de sofrimento psíquico dos servidores responsáveis pela execução dos serviços socioassistenciais da rede de Proteção Social da FUNPAPA, enfatizando as estratégias que desenvolvem para realizar o seu trabalho de forma a colocarem-se no âmbito da “normalidade”. Pautado nas contribuições da psicodinâmica do trabalho e nos referenciais do campo da saúde do trabalhador, o enfoque teórico-metodológico desta pesquisa consiste em uma abordagem qualitativa, cuja coleta de dados envolveu entrevistas individuais semi-estruturadas e observação participante. A análise dos dados, realizada através da técnica de análise de conteúdo, apontou aspectos relacionados às condições de trabalho e à organização do trabalho atuando como desencadeantes de vivências de sofrimento psíquico, as quais se expressam em ansiedade, insatisfação, medo, tédio, repugnância, dentre outras manifestações. Os aspectos relacionados às más condições de trabalho que desencadeiam o sofrimento psíquico dos servidores da FUNPAPA são: espaço físico sem a adaptação necessária para o atendimento dos usuários, equipamentos obsoletos e/ou com funcionamento defeituoso, escala de veículos irregular e condições ambientais insalubres devido à infiltrações constantes. Como elementos constituintes da organização do trabalho que funcionam como determinantes do sofrimento psíquico vivenciado pelos servidores da FUNPAPA podemos citar: o atendimento aos usuários, a capacitação profissional inadequada ao trabalho que desenvolvem, a avaliação de desempenho, a ausência de reconhecimento social, o quantitativo reduzido de servidores, a rede socioassistencial deficitária e a impotência diante dos limites da política de assistência social para fazer frente às demandas sociais postas a esses servidores. Para lidar com as vivências de sofrimento psíquico de modo a evitar a doença e a loucura esses servidores adotam estratégias de defesa de proteção, incluindo: a racionalização, a religiosidade, os laços de confiança e solidariedade, o absenteísmo, a antecipação das férias, o investimento em atividades desenvolvidas fora da jornada de trabalho, o trabalho itinerante na comunidade e a busca de soluções alternativas para tornar o ambiente físico o mais acolhedor possível. Desta forma, a estrutura deste trabalho abrange três momentos: a referência empírica, o aporte teórico e a discussão dos resultados, respectivamente. Por último, à guisa de conclusão, são apontadas algumas notas para subsidiar uma proposta de promoção da saúde mental no trabalho.

Environmental aspects have been acknowledged as an important issue in decision making at any field during the last two decades. There are several available methodologies able to assess the environmental burden, among which the Ecological Footprint has been widely used due to its easy-to-understand final indicator. However, its theoretical base has been target of some criticisms about the inadequate representation of the sustainability concept by its final indicator. In a parallel way, efforts have been made to use the theoretical strength of the Emergy Accounting to obtain an index similar to that supplied by the Ecological Footprint. Focusing on these aspects, this work assesses the support area (SA) index for Brazilian sugarcane and American corn crop through four different approaches: Embodied Energy Analysis (SA(EE)), Ecological Footprint (SA(EF)), Renewable Empower Density (SA(R)), and Emergy Net Primary Productivity (SA(NPP)). Results indicate that the load on environment varies accordingly to the methodology considered for its calculation, in which emergy approach showed the higher values. Focusing on crops comparison, the load by producing both crops are similar with an average of 0.04 ha obtained by SA(EE), 1.86 ha by SA(EF), 4.24 ha by SA(R), and 4.32 ha by SA(NPP). Discussion indicates that support area calculated using Emergy Accounting is more eligible to represent the load on the environment due to its global scale view. Nevertheless, each methodology has its contribution depending of the study objectives, but it is important to consider the real meaning and the scope of each one. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. The gas turbine (GT) is known to have: low cost of capital over the amount of energy, high flexibility, high reliability, short delivery time, commissioning and commercial operation at the beginning and quick departure. The gas turbine is also recognized for its superior environmental performance, manifested in air pollution containment and reducing greenhouse gases (Mahi, 1994). Gas turbines in simple cycle mode (SC) have long been used by utilities to limited power generation peak. In addition, manufacturing facilities use gas turbines for power generation units on site, often in combination with the process of heat production, such as hot water and steam process. In recent years, the performance of industrial gas turbines has been improved due to significant investments in research and development, in terms of fuel to electricity conversion efficiency, plant capacity, availability and reliability. The greater availability of energy resources such as natural gas (NG), the significant reduction of capital costs and the introduction of advanced cycles, have also been a success factor for the increased use of gas turbines to load applications base (Poulikas, 2004). Open Cycle Gas Turbine with a greater degree of heat to the atmosphere may alternatively be used to produce additional electricity using a steam cycle, or to compose a cogeneration process. The combined cycle (CC) uses the heat from the gas turbine exhaust gas to increase the power output and increase the overall efficiency of more than 50% second (Najjar, 2001). The initial discovery of these cycles in the commercial power generation market was possible due to the development of the gas turbine. Only from the 1970s that gas turbine inlet temperature and therefore the exhaust gas temperature was sufficiently high to allow a better efficiency in the combined cycle ...
