In rapid parallel magnetic resonance imaging, the problem of image reconstruction is challenging. Here, a novel image reconstruction technique for data acquired along any general trajectory in neural network framework, called ``Composite Reconstruction And Unaliasing using Neural Networks'' (CRAUNN), is proposed. CRAUNN is based on the observation that the nature of aliasing remains unchanged whether the undersampled acquisition contains only low frequencies or includes high frequencies too. Here, the transformation needed to reconstruct the alias-free image from the aliased coil images is learnt, using acquisitions consisting of densely sampled low frequencies. Neural networks are made use of as machine learning tools to learn the transformation, in order to obtain the desired alias-free image for actual acquisitions containing sparsely sampled low as well as high frequencies. CRAUNN operates in the image domain and does not require explicit coil sensitivity estimation. It is also independent of the sampling trajectory used, and could be applied to arbitrary trajectories as well. As a pilot trial, the technique is first applied to Cartesian trajectory-sampled data. Experiments performed using radial and spiral trajectories on real and synthetic data, illustrate the performance of the method. The reconstruction errors depend on the acceleration factor as well as the sampling trajectory. It is found that higher acceleration factors can be obtained when radial trajectories are used. Comparisons against existing techniques are presented. CRAUNN has been found to perform on par with the state-of-the-art techniques. Acceleration factors of up to 4, 6 and 4 are achieved in Cartesian, radial and spiral cases, respectively. (C) 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Transparent glasses in the system 0.5Li(2)O-0.5M(2)O-2B(2)O(3) (M = Li, Na and K) were fabricated via the conventional melt quenching technique. The amorphous and glassy nature of the samples was confirmed via the X-ray powder diffraction and the differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. The frequency and temperature dependent characteristics of the dielectric relaxation and the electrical conductivity were investigated in the 100 Hz-10 MHz frequency range. The imaginary part of the electric modulus spectra was modeled using an approximate solution of Kohrausch-Williams-Watts relation. The stretching exponent, (3, was found to be temperature independent for 0.5Li(2)O-0.5Na(2)O-2B(2)O(3) (LNBO) glasses. The activation energy associated with DC conduction was found to be higher (1.25 eV) for 0.5Li(2)O-0.5K(2)O-2B(2)O(3) (LKBO) glasses than that of the other glass systems under study. This letter proposes a simple tuning algorithm for digital deadbeat control based on error correlation. By injecting a square-wave reference input and calculating the correlation of the control error, a gain correction for deadbeat control is obtained. The proposed solution is simple, it requires a short tuning time, and it is suitable for different DC-DC converter topologies. Simulation and experimental results on synchronous buck converters confirm the properties of the proposed tuning algorithm.

The evolution of microstructure and texture in commercially pure titanium has been studied as a function of strain path during rolling using experimental techniques and viscoplastic self-consistent simulations. Four different strain paths, namely unidirectional rolling, two-step cross rolling, multistep cross rolling, and reverse rolling, have been employed to decipher the effect of strain path change on the evolution of deformation texture and microstructure. The cross-rolled samples show higher hardness with lower microstrain and intragranular misorientation compared to the unidirectional rolled sample as determined from X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction, respectively. The higher hardness of the cross-rolled samples is attributed to orientation hardening due to the near basal texture. Viscoplastic self-consistent simulations are able to successfully predict the texture evolution of the differently rolled samples. Simulation results indicate the higher contribution of basal slip in the formation of near basal texture and as well as lower intragranular misorientation in the cross-rolled samples.

The natural product fumagillin exhibits potent antiproliferative and antiangiogenic properties. The semisynthetic analog PPI-2458, (3R,4S,5S,6R)-5-methoxy-4-(2R,3R)-2-methyl-3-(3-methylbut-2-enyl) oxiran-2-yl]-1-oxaspiro2.5]octan-6-yl] N-(2R)-1-amino-3-methyl-1-oxobutan-2-yl]carbamate, demonstrates rapid inactivation of its molecular target, methionine aminopeptidase-2 (MetAP2), and good efficacy in several rodent models of cancer and inflammation with oral dosing despite low apparent oral bioavailability. To probe the basis of its in vivo efficacy, the metabolism of PPI-2458 was studied in detail. Reaction phenotyping identified CYP3A4/5 as the major source of metabolism in humans. Six metabolites were isolated from liver microsomes and characterized by mass spectrometry and nuclear resonance spectroscopy, and their structures were confirmed by chemical synthesis. The synthetic metabolites showed correlated inhibition of MetAP2 enzymatic activity and vascular endothelial cell growth. In an ex vivo experiment, MetAP2 inhibition in white blood cells, thymus, and lymph nodes in rats after single dosing with PPI-2458 and the isolated metabolites was found to correlate with the in vitro activity of the individual species. In a phase 1 clinical study, PPI-2458 was administered to patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. At 15 mg administered orally every other day, MetAP2 in whole blood was 80% inactivated for up to 48 hours, although the exposure of the parent compound was only similar to 10% that of the summed cytochrome P450 metabolites. Taken together, the data confirm the participation of active metabolites in the in vivo efficacy of PPI-2458. The structures define a metabolic pathway for PPI-2458 that is distinct from that of TNP-470 ((3R, 4S, 5S, 6R)-5-methoxy-4-(2R, 3R)-2-methyl-3-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)oxiran-2-yl]-1-oxaspiro2.5]octan-6 -yl] N-(2-chloroacetyl)carbamate). The high level of MetAP2 inhibition achieved in vivo supports the value of fumagillin-derived therapeutics for angiogenic diseases.

Stable isotopes from a U/Th dated aragonite stalagmite from the Central Kumaun Himalaya provide evidence of variation in climatic conditions in the last similar to 1800 years. The delta O-18 and delta C-13 values vary from -4.3 parts per thousand to -7.6 parts per thousand and -3.4 parts per thousand to -9.1 parts per thousand respectively, although the stalagmite was not grown in isotopic equilibrium with cave drip water, a clear palaeoclimatic signal in stalagmite delta O-18 values is evident based on the regional climate data. The stalagmite showed a rapid growth rate during 830-910 AD, most likely the lower part of Medieval Warm Period (MWP), and 1600-1640 AD, the middle part of Little Ice Age (LIA). Two distinct phases of reduced precipitation are marked by a 2 parts per thousand shift in 8180 values towards the end of MWP (similar to 1080-1160 AD) and after its termination from similar to 1210 to 1440 AD. The LIA (similar to 1440-1880 AD) is represented by sub-tropical climate similar to modern conditions, whereas the post-LIA was comparatively drier. The Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was located over the cave location during wetter/warmer conditions. When it shifted southward, precipitation over the study area decreased. A prominent drop in delta O-18 and delta C-13 values during the post-LIA period may also have been additionally influenced by anthropogenic activity in the area. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd and INQUA. This paper presents classification, representation and extraction of deformation features in sheet-metal parts. The thickness is constant for these shape features and hence these are also referred to as constant thickness features. The deformation feature is represented as a set of faces with a characteristic arrangement among the faces. Deformation of the base-sheet or forming of material creates Bends and Walls with respect to a base-sheet or a reference plane. These are referred to as Basic Deformation Features (BDFs). Compound deformation features having two or more BDFs are defined as characteristic combinations of Bends and Walls and represented as a graph called Basic Deformation Features Graph (BDFG). The graph, therefore, represents a compound deformation feature uniquely. The characteristic arrangement of the faces and type of bends belonging to the feature decide the type and nature of the deformation feature. Algorithms have been developed to extract and identify deformation features from a CAD model of sheet-metal parts. The proposed algorithm does not require folding and unfolding of the part as intermediate steps to recognize deformation features. Representations of typical features are illustrated and results of extracting these deformation features from typical sheet metal parts are presented and discussed. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Dynamic function of damage is the key to the problem of damage evolution of solids. In order to understand it, one must understand its mesoscopic mechanisms and macroscopic formulation. In terms of evolution equation of microdamage and damage moment, a dynamic function of damage is strictly defined. The mesoscopic mechanism underlying self-closed damage evolution law is investigated by means of double damage moments. Numerical results of damage evolution demonstrate some common features for various microdamage dynamics. Then, the dynamic function of damage is applied to inhomogeneous damage field. In this case, damage evolution rate is no longer equal to the dynamic function of damage. It is found that the criterion for damage localization is closely related to compound damage. Finally, an inversion of damage evolution to the dynamic function of damage is proposed.

El presente estudio se realizó con el objetivo de evaluar la calidad higiénica de la leche en dos plantas de acopio del Municipio de San Pedro de Lóvago, Chontales. El municipio se localiza (San Pedro y Manantial) entre las coordenadas 12º 07 ́ latitud norte y 85º07 ́ latitud oeste. La altitud promedio es de 340msnm. El clima es semi-húmedo, conocido como, de sabana tropical.La temperatura promedio anual oscila entre los 25 y 26ºC; su precipitación pluvial varía entre los 1200 y 1400mm, caracterizándose por una buena distribución de las lluvias durante todo el año.Se utilizó información de 24 meses (2004-2005), con un promedio de 30 muestras mensuales,por cada planta de acopio, para un total de 1440 muestras. Se tomó directamente 1 ó 2 muestras de leche al arribo del carro tanque recolector a la planta, con previa homogenización. La variables calidad higiénica de la leche se analizó utilizando un análisis de varianza con los efectos año, planta e interacción entre plantas (2004-2005) para comparar las medias se utilizó la prueba de Tukey p<0.05.De las muestras analizadas en las dos plantas de acopio de San Pedro y Manantial de un total de 9 323 355 de litros de leche acopiados entre las dos plantas se clasificaron como leche A 7 744 821 y como leche B: 15 785 34 litros. La Planta de acopio San Pedro, acopio más leche (clasificación A y B) en el 2004 que la planta Manantial. Los productores asociados a la planta de acopio San Pedro dejaron de percibir por concepto de clasificación de leche B la cantidad de 3 394 076 Córdobas, mientras que los de la planta Manantial dejaron de percibir la cantidad de 1 578 534 Córdobas respectivamente.

垃圾衍生燃料 (Refuse-Derived Fuels-RDF)具有热值高、易燃烧的优点。RDF的一个潜在应用是与煤进行混烧,替代一部分锅炉燃烧用煤。由于RDF挥发份相当高,因此燃烧时的污染物排放不易控制。本文在非均匀布风流化床中进行了RDF与煤的混烧试验,测量了H_2O、CO、CO_2、NO、N_2O、HCl、SO_2等污染物质的排放特性。结果表明与单纯燃烧RDF相比,混烧时的CO生成量大大下降;SO2生成浓度较低,而HCl的生成量比单纯烧煤时明显增加。

Con el objetivo de evaluar comparativamente los resultados de dos métodos de tratamiento (químico y quirúrgico), para eliminar el tumor de Sticker y conocer cual de los dos tratamientos es mas efectivo, se comparo la evolución post-tratamiento de los pacientes, estableciendo ventajas y desventajas de cada uno, además valorando los efectos colaterales de la aplicación de sulfato de vincristina, como compuesto químico, a través del seguimiento evolutivo del paciente y realización de exámenes complementarios (BHC), además de determinar los costos de aplicación y relacionarlos con la efectividad de los mismos, el estudio se llevó a cabo de Mayo a Noviembre del 2010, para ello se utilizaron 12 canes elegidos al azar, de diferentes edades, razas y sexo, previamente diagnosticados con el Tumor Venéreo Transmisible, estos se dividieron en 2 grupos de 6 pacientes cada uno; al primer grupo se le practicó cirugía para extirpar el tumor en el complejo universitario Tania Beteta y el segundo grupo se trato con quimioterapia, realizado en la Clínica Veterinaria Lupita en Granada, aplicando una dosis semanal para cada paciente en dependencia del peso, los datos se analizaron en el programa estadístico SAS, mediante análisis de varianza y separaciones de medias según Duncan, las variables evaluadas fueron recuperación, frecuencia respiratoria (FR), frecuencia cardiaca (FC), examen clínico y evolución del tumor, encontrándose diferencia altamente significativa entre tratamientos, siendo el mejor método el químico, se encontró también diferencia significativa en la FR, donde el método químico fue mejor, en cuanto a la FC no se encontró variación alguna, el tratamiento quirúrgico requirió más examen clínico, se encontró diferencia significativa en la evolución del tumor resultando más efectivo el método químico, se determinó que la evolución de los tratamientos estaban relacionados con el peso vivo de los animales, el costo total para el tratamiento químico fue de $75.58 y para el tratamiento quirúrgico de $ 69.11 con una diferencia de $ 6.48 en contra del tratamiento químico.

En la Estación Experimental de Las Mercedes municipio de Managua, se inició en la época de postrera en 1991, un experimento de rotación de cultivos bajo diferentes niveles de control de malezas. El presente trabajo evaluó el efecto de los cultivos antecesores sorgo, maíz y pepino con tres niveles de control de malezas : químico, período crítico y limpias periódicas a la dinámica de la cenosis de malezas, crecimiento y rendimiento del cultivo sucesor sorgo. Cuando antecedió el pepino la abundancia de maleza fue mayor con 504 Ind/m2 reduciéndose considerablemente a la cosecha obteniendo una biomasa promedio de 133.9 gr/m2. Sucedió lo contrario con maíz como cultivo antecesor ya que al principio la abundancia fue de 201 Ind/m2 y se obtuvo la mayor biomasa con 259.8 gr/m2 y para sorgo-sorgo tuvo valores de 232 Ind/m2 y a la cosecha en menor valor en biomasa de sorgo 130.0 gr/m2. En el rendimiento se enmarcó una tendencia a favor de maíz como cultivo antecesor con 1878 Kg/ha de sorgo, mientras sorgo-sorgo obtuvo un rendimiento de 1839 Kg/ha comparándose con pepino como antecesor con 1832 Kg/ha de sorgo. Comparando los controles aquí hubo diferencias significativas y en mayor valor le correspondió al control químico con 2048.0 Kg/ha, control período crítico con 1786 Kg/ha y el menor valor le correspondió a limpia periódica con sólo 1715 Kg/ha. En el control período crítico presentó mayor abundancia la maleza al inicio con 444 Ind/m2, teniendo una reducción hasta 62 Ind/m2 en la cosecha. El control químico tuvo un comportamiento similar que el control período crítico con 295 Ind/m2, reduciendo al final del ciclo con 135 Ind/m2. El control limpias periódicas tuvo al inicio la menor abundancia con 200 Ind/m2, reduciendo a la cosecha a 3 Ind/m2.

Muchas gracias por el interés. Como expresó el Dr. Resico en la presentación me he dedicado por muchos años a los temas relacionados con el capital social. Para exponer de forma ordenada daré primero una definición del capital social, así entendemos de qué estamos hablando. Cuando nos referimos al “capital social”, nos estamos refiriendo a normas y redes sociales que permiten que confiemos o nos fiemos de los demás y que colaboremos con ellos. Esa es la idea general de capital social. No es una idea muy pulida o acabada y podemos quedar con la impresión que, si la tratamos de definir con precisión absoluta, se nos escape. En el curso de doctorado utilicé mucho tiempo para ver cómo los economistas y otros, como los sociólogos y los politólogos, tratan de hilar más fino y definir más precisamente qué es el capital social, pero entrar en esto ahora nos llevaría demasiado tiempo, así que les propongo quedarnos con esa definición bastante general, para entender por lo menos al área a la que nos estamos refiriendo. Entonces, estamos pensando en normas y redes sociales que permiten el desarrollo de la confianza y de la colaboración.
