Els materials arqueològics del jaciment ibèric de la Serra de l’Espasa (Capçanes, Priorat) dipositats al Museu d’Arqueologia Salvador Vilaseca de Reus: evidències d’un santuari?

En aquest treball presentem una revisió del jaciment ibèric de la Serra de l’Espasa (Capçanes, Priorat) a partir de l’estudi, amb criteris actualitzats, del material conservat en el Museu Salvador Vilaseca de Reus. Els resultats són contrastats amb les darreres investigacions arqueològiques desenvolupades en el curs inferior de l’Ebre. A l’últim, s’analitzen les possibles interpretacions d’aquest conjunt, en particular la hipotètica existència d’un santuari, i les seves implicacions en el procés de romanització en aquesta zona.

Sterblichkeit während Grippeepidemien in der Schweiz 1969-1985. [Mortality in influenza epidemics in Switzerland 1969-1985].

In Switzerland from 1969-1985, 9 out of 11 influenza epidemics were associated with a statistically significant increase in mortality. A total of 12,202 excess deaths from all causes was identified. Expected deaths were forecast for each epidemic period separately for 4 age groups using Fourier and Arima modeling. 75.7% of all-cause excess deaths occurred in age group 70 to 89 and 5.1% in age group 1-59. In the 70-89 years old group the excess mortality risk during influenza epidemics was 271.6 per 100,000, whereas in age group 1-59 it was only 1.7 per 100,000. Only 40% of all excess deaths had been ascribed to acute respiratory conditions. Influenza viruses A H3N2 were the most frequently identified agents. In some instances mortality increased before the morbidity reports of the Swiss practitioners indicated the occurrence of an epidemic. Also, morbidity reporting decreased over successive years. A decrease in mortality following the epidemics was not observed. A more complete vaccination of high risk patients in Switzerland is desirable.

Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) : un philosophe aux prises avec la théologie

l'auteur revisite certains textes de Paul Ricoeur, textes s'étalant entre 1960 et 1992, afin d'exposer et de discuter le rapport de cette philosophie avec la théologie chrétienne. Il interroge le statut de la théologie spéculative dévolu par cette pensée qui accorde un certain privilège à la théologie herméneutique et à la théologie politique. S'il ne fait pas de doute que Ricoeur accepte, comme philosophe, de se mesurer aux questions théologiques sous-jacentes à toute grande philosophie de la religion, comme le montre sa dette envers Hegel et Saint Anselme notamment, la question semble se poser toutefois d'un scepticisme excessif envers les possibilités du penser théologique comme tel et d'une certaine tendance à l'éthicisation des questions métaphysiques ou dogmatiques.

Las exportaciones de España a Cuba (1891-1913): pervivencias históricas en la demanda cubana de productos españoles

This article analyzes the structure of Spanish trade with Cuba during the period leading up to and immediately after Cuban independence in 1898. Although in overall terms, the loss of the colony meant the disappearance of major bilateral trade links, an analysis of certain groups shows that Spanish exports to Cuba of some of the latter were maintained or actually increased. The hypothesis for explaining this anomalous behavior is based on the presence of product differentiation strategies whose success is linked to the preference for Spanish goods of a certain sector of Cuban demand.

Professor CREU CASAS i SICART (1913-2007)

Creu Casas i Sicart, Professor Emeritus at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Catalonia, and a member of the Insti­tute of Catalan Studies (IEC) since 1978, died at the advanced yet still active age of 94 in Bellaterra on 20 May 2007, after a brief illness. She was unquestionably the most prominent bota­nist in the field of bryological research (mosses, liverworts, and hornworts) covering the entire Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands in the past 50 years. She also served as the president (1980-1982) of one of the most prestigious affiliates of our in­ stitute, the Catalan Institution of Natural History

Laskentatoimen tutkimus Suomessa vuosina 1985-1999

Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on analysoida laskentatoimen kauppatieteellisiä väitöskirjatutkimuksia vuosilta 1985-1999. Väitöskirjoista tutkitaan: missä yliopistoissa ne on tehty, ketkä tutkimuksia ovat tehneet, mitä on tutkittu ja mitä tutkimusmetodologiaa on käytetty. Lisäksi suoritetaan vertailua edellisiin vuosikymmeniin sekä USA:n ja Euroopan tutkimuksiin. Tutkimusote on nomoteettinen. Laskentatoimen väitöskirjat vuosilta 1985-1999 luokitellaan ja analysoidaan tutkimusten aihepiirin, tutkimusotteen ja tutkimusten ongelma-alueen perusteella. Analyyseistä saatuja tiivistettyjä tuloksia vertaillaan Juha ja Salme Näsin (1985) vuosien 1940-1984 laskentatoimen väitöskirjojen tutkimustuloksiin. Lopputuloksena todetaan, että vuosien 1985-1999 väitöskirjatutkimusten aihepiirit ovat keskittyneet johdon päätöksentekoon, väitöskirjojen tutkimusotteissa nomoteettinen tutkimusote on menettänyt johtoasemansa toiminta-analyyttisella tutkimusotteelle sekä ongelma-alueidensa perusteella väitöskirjat ovat suuntautuneet yrityksen taloudelliseen toimintaan.

Railroad Impact in Backward Economies: Spain, 1850-1913

This article reassesses the economic impact of Spanish railroads in 1850-1913, which has been usually considered to be substantially higher than in the most developed countries on the basis of the social saving methodology. The application of growth accounting techniques shows, by contrast, that the direct contribution of railroads to economic growth was lower in Spain than in the UK, mainly due to the low importance that railroad transport had within Spanish GDP before 1913.
