The six-membered B(2)H(4) ring of the title compound, C(36)H(30)B(2)N(8), adopts a slightly distorted boat conformation, with the terminal B substituents in a trans orientation. One 3-phenylpyrazolyl group is in an equatorial position, whereas the second is in an axial position with respect to the plane defined by the B atoms.

The aim of this study was to compare wild boar (chromosomal number 2n = 36) to phenotypically similar animals of 2n = 37 and 2n = 38 chromosomes (crossbreeds) with respect to live weight, carcass yield, meat yield, fat and weight of inner organs. All animals were born and raised on the same farm and slaughtered at 39 weeks. The final live weight of wild boar 2n = 36 was significantly lower (47.2 kg) as compared to crossbreeds (80.0 kg). Animals 2n = 36 had more carcass yields (65.5%) than 2n = 37 karyotype (64.9%) and 2n = 38 (64.4%). Wild boar had the highest yields for the cuts with bones and boneless cuts compared to crossbreeds. Therefore, variations in karyotype are accompanied by differences in some carcass quantitative traits, i.e., 2n = 36 grow and fatten slower than crossbreeds 2n = 37 and 2n = 38. Aim: In the present study, we assessed the role of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptors (5-HT1A, 5-HT2 and 5-HT7) in the nucleus raphe magnus (NRM) on the ventilatory and thermoregulatory responses to hypoxia. Methods: To this end, pulmonary ventilation (V-E) and body temperature (T-b) of male Wistar rats were measured in conscious rats, before and after a 0.1 mu L microinjection of WAY-100635 (5-HT1A receptor antagonist, 3 mu g 0.1 mu L-1, 56 mM), ketanserin (5-HT2 receptor antagonist, 2 mu g 0.1 mu L-1, 36 mM) and SB269970 (5-HT7 receptor antagonist, 4 mu g 0.1 mu L-1, 103 mM) into the NRM, followed by 60 min of severe hypoxia exposure (7% O-2).Results: Intra-NMR microinjection of vehicle (control rats) or 5-HT antagonists did not affect V-E or T-b during normoxic conditions. Exposure of rats to 7% O-2 evoked a typical hypoxia-induced anapyrexia after vehicle microinjections, which was not affected by microinjection of WAY-100635, SB269970 or ketanserin. The hypoxia-induced hyperpnoea was not affected by SB269970 and ketanserin intra-NMR. However, the treatment with WAY-100635 intra-NRM attenuated the hypoxia-induced hyperpnoea. Conclusion: These data suggest that 5-HT acting on 5-HT1A receptors in the NRM increases the hypoxic ventilatory response.

A newly-isolated thermophilic strain of the zygomycete fungus Rhizomucor pusillus 13.36 produced highly active dextrinogenic and saccharogenic enzymes. Cassava pulp was a good alternative substrate for amylase production. Dextrinogenic and saccharogenic amylases exhibited optimum activities at a pH of 4.0-4.5 and 5.0 respectively and at a temperature of 75°C. The enzymes were highly thermostable, with no detectable loss of saccharogenic or dextrinogenic activity after 1 h and 6 h at 60°C, respectively. The saccharogenic activity was inhibited by Ca2+ while the dextrinogenic was indifferent to this ion. Both activities were inhibited by Fe2+ and Cu2+ Hydrolysis of soluble starch by the crude enzyme yielded 66% glucose, 19.5% maltose, 7.7% maltotriose and 6.6% oligosaccharides.
