The time-lag between coronary occlusion and irreversible damage to the myocardium is ill-defined in man. In 10 patients the changes in left ventricular function have been studied after coronary occlusion during diagnostic or therapeutic cardiac catheterization of 1-2 hours' duration. Revascularization was achieved either surgically or through intracoronary streptokinase infusion. The interval between occlusion and onset of extracorporal circulation or reopening was 61 to 119 minutes. Despite enzyme elevation (CPK, CK-MB, SGOT) and appearance of Q-waves in 5 patients, no significant alteration of left ventricular function was noted on repeat cardiac catheterization 10 to 230 days after the accident. These observations, suggest that coronary occlusion of 1-2 hours' duration fails to produce significant irreversible damage to the myocardium despite electrocardiographic and enzymatic signs of myocardial infarction.

The article reopens the file of sources, parallels and rewritings of 1 Cor 2.9, a saying that Paul attributes to some written source, when others sources put it into Jesus' mouth (e.g. GosThom 17). A state of research highlights that the hypothesis of an oral source is generally preferred but an accurate study of 1 Clem 34.8, a parallel too often neglected, supports the presence of a written source that existed before 1 Cor 2.9. GosJud 47.10-13 will help to understand the attribution of the saying to Jesus. The last important part of this article studies its parallel in Islamic traditions, a ḥadīth qudsī.

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a member of the TNF family that induces cancer cell death by apoptosis with some selectivity. TRAIL-induced apoptosis is mediated by the transmembrane receptors death receptor 4 (DR4) (also known as TRAIL-R1) and DR5 (TRAIL-R2). TRAIL can also bind decoy receptor 1 (DcR1) (TRAIL-R3) and DcR2 (TRAIL-R4) that fail to induce apoptosis since they lack and have a truncated cytoplasmic death domain, respectively. In addition, DcR1 and DcR2 inhibit DR4- and DR5-mediated, TRAIL-induced apoptosis and we demonstrate here that this occurs through distinct mechanisms. While DcR1 prevents the assembly of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) by titrating TRAIL within lipid rafts, DcR2 is corecruited with DR5 within the DISC, where it inhibits initiator caspase activation. In addition, DcR2 prevents DR4 recruitment within the DR5 DISC. The specificity of DcR1- and DcR2-mediated TRAIL inhibition reveals an additional level of complexity for the regulation of TRAIL signaling.
