Since 1980s, Western linguists and specialists on second language acquisition have emphasized the importance of enhancing students intercultural communication competence in foreign language education. At the same time, the demand for intercultural communicative competence increased along with the advances of communication technology with its increasingly global reach and the process of globalization itself.In the field of distance language education, these changes have resulted in a shift of focus from the production and distribution of learning materials towards communication and learning as a social process, facilitated by various internet-based platforms. The current focus on learners interacting and communicating synchronously trough videoconferencing is known as the fourth generation of distance language education. Despite the fact that teaching of Chinese as a foreign language (CFL) faces the same or even greater challenges as teaching other languages, the intercultural communication perspective is still quite a new trend in CFL and its implementation and evaluation are still under development. Moreover, the advocates of the new trends in CFL have so far focused almost exclusively on classroom-based courses, neglecting the distance mode of CFL and leaving it as an open field for others to explore. In this under-researched context, Dalarna University (Sweden), where I currently work, started to provide web-based courses of the Chinese language in 2007. Since 2010, the Chinese language courses have been available only in the distance form, using the same teaching materials as the previous campus-based courses. The textbooks used in both settings basically followed the functional nationalism approach. However, in order to catch up with the main trend of foreign-language education, we felt a need to implement the cross-cultural dimension into the distance courses as well. Therefore in 2010, a pilot study has been carried out to explore opportunities and challenges for implementing a cross-cultural perspective into existing courses and evaluating the effectiveness of this implementation based on the feedback of the students and on the experience of the teacher/researcher.

This paper describes the on-line teaching strategies for languages adopted at the University of Dalarna (Sweden) and the experience of a collaboration carried out with the Language Centre of the University of Parma that led to the administration of an international course in Italian for specific purposes. According to the results of its first administration, the promotion of advanced forms of "virtual mobility" together with the prospective of a joint degree in Italian language and culture will be outlined.

Nell'articolo illustrata la conoscenza della lingua italiana in Svezia nella prima et moderna, con particolare riguardo al Seicento. Gli studi pregressi su questo argomento mostrano che l'Italiano era in questo periodo una delle lingue di cultura pi importanti in Svezia. Per verificare questi studi si sono utilizzate le notizie di prima mano contenute in alcuni testi odeporici (lettere, diari, relazioni ecc.) redatti da viaggiatori italiani recatisi in Svezia in questo secolo. Nei primi paragrafi del lavoro il lettore introdotto alla comprensione dell'argomento grazie ad una esposizione contestualizzata sia della storia della Svezia sia di quella della lingua italiana tra Cinquecento e Seicento. Inoltre si offre anche una veloce introduzione ai contatti culturali tra l'Italia e la Svezia fino al Seicento. L'analisi dei testi odeporici seicenteschi conferma gli studi precedenti, basati su ricerche bibliografiche e d'archivio, dimostrando come l'Italiano, sebbene materia di studio accademico e di apprendimento privato, fosse in realt conosciuto in Svezia solo da una piccola parte dei nobili, preferendosi ad esso il Francese, mentre il latino era conosciuto bene da tutti i rappresentanti del clero.

Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689)) is probably the most important individual to directly link the cultures of Sweden and Italy, and thus fascinate scholars over the last four centuries. In the last fifty years, research on and interest in this monarch has been particularly intense. This has led to current international scientific debate concerning all the different cultural expressions in which Queen Cristina was particularly involved. However, until now there has been lacking a comprehensive work to illustrate the development of scientific research in Italian on Queen Christina. This article, therefore, without claiming to be exhaustive, aims to fill this gap by identifying the main direction of current research. The article, after briefly introducing previous works (both Italian and Swedish), demonstrates how the first major renaissance of international studies on Queen Cristina took place in Sweden in the early 1960s. Even more important was the subsequent turning point in 1989, when the tercentenary of the death of Queen Christina was celebrated and the Azzolino Collection at the Biblioteca Comunale in Jesi was opened. The article focuses on the studies in Italian during this latter period. To make the exposition more organic and, importantly, more accessible to those readers interested in only one particular aspect of the scientific studies about Queen Christina, the studies in Italian since 1689 are divided into different subject areas.

Sur la base des travaux de Grard Genette, en particulier Figures III, uneanalyse narratologique du roman Llgance du hrisson (2006) de lauteur MurielBarbery a t effectue afin de comprendre les liens quil y a entre les spcificits dumode narratif et leurs effets sur lespace du rcit, soit le bocal poissons , unemtaphore importante du roman. Ultimement nous rpondons la question suivante :En quoi la narration dans le roman Llgance du hrisson permet-elle de bien rendrela mtaphore du bocal poissons ?

Larticle porte sur les deux premiers romans de Faza Gune : Kiffe kiffe demain (2004) et Du rve pour les oufs (2006), ainsi que sur les traductions en langue sudoise Kiffe kiffe imorgon (2006) et Drmmar fr drar (2008). Nous nous intressons aux mots et aux expressions qui sont porteurs de la culture maghrbine, pour voir comment ces termes sont traduits en sudois. Nous tudions aussi loralit et le registre argotique, qui sont des traits caractristiques de la prose de Gune. Nous constatons que certains termes dorigine arabe du texte source sont traduits par des mots ayant une autre tymologie, ce qui rend la prsence maghrbine un peu moins visible dans le texte cible. Nous constatons aussi que loralit du texte source est transfre dans le texte cible, mais par dautres moyens un procd de compensation est souvent utilis. Le registre argotique parat un peu plus saillant dans les romans franais que dans les versions traduites. Lexemple le plus frappant est le discours des personnages dans Du rve pour les oufs, qui doit tre traduit en franais standard par le moyen de notes de bas de page, pour assurer la comprhension du lecteur implicite du texte original phnomne qui na pas dquivalent dans la traduction sudoise. Ce procd de normalisation rend le texte cible plus neutre et, peut-tre, un peu moins singulier que loriginal.

Grammar has always been an important part of language learning. Based on various theories, such as the universal grammar theory (Chomsky, 1959) and, the input theory (Krashen, 1970), the explicit and implicit teaching methods have been developed. Research shows that both methods may have some benefits and disadvantages. The attitude towards English grammar teaching methods in schools has also changed and nowadays grammar teaching methods and learning strategies, as a part of language mastery, are one of the discussion topics among linguists. This study focuses on teacher and learner experiences and beliefs about teaching English grammar and difficulties learners may face. The aim of the study is to conduct a literature review and to find out what scientific knowledge exists concerning the previously named topics. Along with this, the relevant steering documents are investigated focusing on grammar teaching at Swedish upper secondary schools. The universal grammar theory of Chomsky as well as Krashens input hypotheses provide the theoretical background for the current study. The study has been conducted applying qualitative and quantitative methods. The systematic search in four databases LIBRIS, ERIK, LLBA and Google Scholar were used for collecting relevant publications. The result shows that scientists publications name different grammar areas that are perceived as problematic for learners all over the world. The most common explanation of these difficulties is the influence of learner L1. Research presents teachers and learners beliefs to the benefits of grammar teaching methods. An effective combination of teaching methods needs to be done to fit learners expectations and individual needs. Together, they will contribute to the achieving of higher language proficiency levels and, therefore, they can be successfully applied at Swedish upper secondary schools.

De senaste rens kade flerspråkighet i samhllet gr avtryck i den svenskspråkiga romanen. Verk av frfattare som Jonas Hassen Khemiri och Marjaneh Bakhtiari har gjort att man i Sverige ibland har talat om a new literary field (Jonsson 2012, 213). Mycket av uppmrksamheten kring verken har rrt flerspråkigheten, som till viss del har frklarats av frfattarnas ursprung och erfarenheter av kulturer och språk som r relativt nya i Norden, ibland kallade invandrarspråk. Frhllandet mellan frfattarnas egen språkliga och kulturella repertoar och verkens flerspråkighet har debatterats. Kritiken har riktats mot att det ofta varit frfattarnas etnicitet istllet fr deras frfattargrning som kommenterats (Nilsson 2010, 132) och man har frbisett att verken ofta problematiserar just kategoriseringar som invandrarlitteratur (Nilsson 2010, 10). Fr att komma ifrn detta men nd behlla fokus p den litterra flerspråkigheten, r en analys av verk som innehller invandrarspråk, men som r skrivna av svenskspråkiga frfattare utan invandrarbakgrund, intressant. Syftet med studien r fljaktligen att underska vilken roll den litterra flerspråkigheten fr i verk av en finlandssvensk och en sverigesvensk frfattare, som inte r sjlvklara representanter fr de språk de anvnder i sina verk. Frgan r i vilken omfattning och p vilket stt de studerade verken ger uttryck fr litterr flerspråkighet och vilka potentiella effekter den litterra flerspråkigheten kan ha i verken. Fr att ta reda p detta, har den finlandssvenska frfattaren Johanna Holmstrms, samt den svenske frfattaren Jens Lapidus romaner analyserats.
