Proposta de implementação da ISO 14001 em uma empresa química

Due to environmental concerns and the current legal requirements, companies are looking for ways to reconcile economic growth with environmental preservation. The purpose of this project is to show the stages of implementation of ISO 14001 in a chemical company and propose changes in chemical procedures creating goals to be achieved. In this paper, the study for the implementation of ISO 14001 is in Viapol ltda., where the lack of environmental management can cause enormous impact to the environment and may generate air, soil and water pollution. The project resulted in a mapping of all the processes and a broad survey of waste and emissions, generating proposals to change some of the processes and and creating programs to achieve the goals and objectives proposed in the Environmental Policy. Adopting an environmental management system (EMS), the company will reduce costs by decreasing the amount of raw material used, shooting down on waste disposal and the amount of it, and increasing productivity. By committing to the implementation of the EMS, companies will be demonstrating a proactive approach to environmental issues and enrich its image to consumers’ point of view

A violência escolar retratada pelas lentes do cinema

This work of completion is inserted at the interface between violence and school, and how you want to portray violence in school is represented in film productions. We consider important to first discuss in depth the concepts of violence to better understand the phenomenon of school violence, which is a subject much discussed in recent times. One of the types of violence very often nowadays, taking forms that we can call as new, in primary education schools, as well as in society in general, is known as bullying, for some authors the concept is very close to the definition of prejudice in with respect to social factors that reflect the target groups of this type of violence. Other authors also research on the expansion of the recent phenomenon known as School Shooting, which means school shootings, very common in American schools. Our study builds on ideas Debarbieux and Blaya (2002) that treat violence more broadly, taking into account the reports of the victims, including symbolic violence, the institutional and physical. For them, every concept must take into consideration how it was socially constructed, to thereafter be searched. Our goal is to analyze and understand how the issue of school violence is treated theoretically and also as is portrayed through the lens of cinema. Our study is theoretically based on authors like Debarbieux, Blaya, Bourdieu, Charlot, Arendt, Foucault, Sposito, among others, and use the qualitative approach, working with content analysis of films

Análise da influência da concentração de feixeis de fibras de bambu em ensaios de piso

Bamboo has one of the highest growth rates among plants, however, its lignifications (which confers resistance) takes around a few years and, therefore, certain physical characteristics and mechanical, that depend on this process will only be acquired between the three to six years old. In addition, bamboo also has significant density variations in different parts of the stem, both in the radial direction as the axial. In particular the radial direction, where the density found in the inner and outer (near the bark) of a single stem can range on average from 0.5 to 0.9 g/cm3. Thus, the application of bamboo as a floor, there to examine whether both sides of the bamboo (internal and external), provide resistance properties required for that purpose. In this study sought to characterize and quantify the influence of the concentration of fiber bundles in the inner and outer sides of rules or bamboo strips of bamboo flooring through testing service. Analyses performed were based on ASTM D 2394- 83 for wooden floors and derivatives. This was necessary because of the absence of a specific prohibition of the use and testing of floors made of bamboo and its products. The data were analyzed by ball indentation test shooting, test for resistance to abrasion, indentation test for stress / load treadmill test and by indentation loads applied to small areas - test the jump. The results of the tests were extremely friendly bamboo, even this presents considerable differences between the resistances obtained from assay of the cover of the inner and outer face, being comparable with those of many commonly used to manufacture wood flooring. Social Stability Related to Sex Group Composition in the Cichlid Nile Tilapia

Aquaculture practices usually put the Nile tilapia in an artificial social environment, which males predominate due to their faster growth desirable for aquaculture purposes. Such a situation can increase male-male fighting because males are generally more aggressive than females, and also because fighting ability is similar within the same sex, leading to longer contests. As behavior has been used to infer welfare in several fish species, the aim of this study was to investigate whether sex composition affects agonistic interactions, social hierarchy and energetic demand in groups of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus; L.). Size-matched adult fish were divided in two treatments: MM = four males and MF = two males and two females (10 repetitions for each treatment). The experiment lasted for 11 days and social interactions (aggressiveness and rank order) were recorded at the 2nd, 6th and 10th days (15 min per day). Fish were food deprived and body weight loss was used to infer energetic cost. A higher frequency of lateral threat (Student’s t independent test; t = 2.55; p = 0.02) and total interactions (Student’s t independent test; t = -2.81; p = 0.01) was observed in the MF treatment. MM group showed unstable hierarchy (Binomial test, p = 0.04), which is considered a social stressor. However, mean weight loss was not affected by treatments (Student’s t independent test; t = -0.74; p = 0.47). These results support the idea that sexual composition affects aggressive interactions and destabilizes social hierarchy, but not energy cost

Human death caused by a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) in Brazil

The fatal outcome of a defensive attack by a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) is reported. The attack occurred while the victim was hunting, and his dogs cornered the adult anteater, which assumed an erect, threatening position. The hunter did not fire his rifle because of concern about accidentally shooting his dogs. He approached the animal armed with a knife, but was grabbed by its forelimbs. When his sons freed him, he had puncture wounds and severe bleeding in the left inguinal region; he died at the scene. Necroscopic examination showed femoral artery lesions and a large hematoma in the left thigh, with death caused by hypovolemic shock. A similar case is cited, and recommendations are made that boundaries between wildlife and humans be respected, especially when they coinhabit a given area.

A liberdade de imprensa vista pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal: análise da ADPF n. 130

The present study aims to present and analyze the ruling of the Brazilian Supreme Court in ADPF 130 (Concentrated constitutional review action, Fundamental Precept Infringement, Argüição de Descumprimento de Preceito Fundamental), proposed by Partido Democrático Trabalhista (PDT), which contests the compatibility of statute 5.250/67 with the Federal Constitution of 1988. This work considers that the judicial ruling is different than the approach taken by the Legislative and Executive powers, arguing that there is, in the Judiciary, a peculiar way for ruling, surrounded by mysteries, rites, secrets, pomp and circunstances unintelligible to layman. To reach the proposed goal, Justice Carlos Brito´s report and opinion on ADPF 130 are analyzed. The choice of giving special attention to this opinion, which favors the declaration of unconstitutionality of the 5.250/67 statute, is justified in that it represents agreement with the allegation of disrespect to the constitutional text, as suggested by the Partido Democrático Trabalhista. The arguments put forth by the presiding Justice on his ruling will also be the object of consideration, as well as some possible consequences of the ruling.
